Congrats Alexgram! That's awesome news!!

I wish my mastectomy scars looked better, two months out. They don't look the same at all: the left is indented and puckered, and opening a bit still while undergoing radiation. (The RO took a good look and suggested I put Neosporin along the incision.) The right is more even and not indented. It's like I have both an "innie" and an "outie". Maybe I'm just being impatient, but I'm not confident that my chest will ever look great. Oh well.

Shycat be patient with your body. You are still healing, and you will see changes for several more months. Healing takes time, and you are still adjusting mentally too. Don't get discouraged, and hugs to you

Saw my PA on Tuesday - - - - -
Still NED 5 years post DX! There were a couple of little things in blood work - low potassium (nothing unusual been fighting it since 1/2 way through Taxol), hypoglycemic (again nothing new), but the new one was low B12 even though I take a Super B daily, so now on sublingual B12 because it is better absorbed - will see. Nothing to bother about - just take care of. I did have new XRays of back to be sure my arthritis is remaining the same - it is.
5 yrs NED - I'll take that anyday!

Faith that is just awesome! Gives us all hope for a long healthy future. Thank you for sharing.

Jess, a long time ago you asked what I meant in saying I have a different perspective than you. All I meant was that you are through with the active phase of treatment while I'm still in the throes of it.
And on that note, I'll explain why I've been silent for so long. The neoadjuvant treatments were pretty rough but I didn't find out how rough they were until 2 days before my first scheduled surgery when my labs showed my sodium levels had crashed. I ended up in hospital for a week. Finally, I was told I am allergic to Taxol. Then I was given some time to regroup before my second scheduled surgery. My labs looked great and I was more than ready. While being knocked out, my blood pressure sank to 60/40. Cancel that surgery as a no go. Had the beginning of what has turned out to be a very long and tedious heart work-up. As the first results showed that my heart was fine, my doc scheduled my third attempt at surgery. It went off without a hitch and, best of all, the pathology report indicated NO cancer cells present. I'm still having my heart checked out but all looks good. Today, finally, I had my simulation and start radiation next week. My path was rocky but the end result more than compensates for that rocky ride.
Jess, this is a great topic, thanks!

Hello all! I have been looking for a board that would answer some questions I have. I have metastatic breast cancer and I believe IBC even though my onc has never said those words. It found one smal bump in November of last year. My surgeon biopsied it and it was benign. I had surgery in December and he removed my right implant. I found two more bumps in February and was diagnosed with dermal lymphatic BC. My radiation plan was changed twice during treatment because a rash would form each time a bump was biopsied. My chest has been radiated twice.
I would like to know if anyone on this thread has had bumps form with their IBC. I have had six treatments with Navelbine. It seemed to be working but my counts get low and I have to skip treatment. The bumps hurt and itch a lot. Some on my side like an orange. They are clustered together.
Thanks in advance for any information and/or help you can give me.

bethu77 I have a lump with my IBC.

Hi sweet ladies, I had my first scans last week since the end of treatment, 6 mo out. Happy to report, all clean, no sign of cancer. NED and so happy! How are you all doing? I hope and pray you all are doing good.
-
Happy Thanksgiving, Thinking of you all.
-
Same to you Meadow!!!
-
Ladies, How have you all been? I "see" some of you on other threads and get an update then, but I do not know how some of the rest are doing. Akevia, how was your surgery? how are you getting along? And Jules, I hope you are doing well. And Kicks, Jess, and everyone else who posts here, as the year winds up and Christmas is near, Merry Christmas to you all.
-
Hello Meadow my surgery went well. I had it Nov. 19th and I had no pain at all. I also did AC chemo and finish that October 16th. I'm now cancer free and taking tamoxifen. Marry Christmas and have a happy new year to you and the rest if the ladies.

jess - a very late response to how I became stage 4. My apologies, I had lost track of this thread. My IBC spread to my adrenal gland -hence stage 4 Continue to be NED

Hi Ladies -- I've been away from this website for awhile, but have just gotten back. I would like you to know that there is hope for us diagnosed with IBC. I'm one month away from my 10 year anniversary of being diagnosed and have NED since 2006 -- I was diagnosed in January 2005. This disease came on very suddenly, and did not show up on my mammogram even though it was definitely there. I had 8 cycles of chem, then a mastectomy in December 2005, plus one month of radiation and finally reconstruction at the end of 2006. Since then everything had been "free and clear."

Wonderful news Simimom. 10 years! I'm 5 years out but was stage IV from the start with bone mets.

I have a local recurrence, will never be NED, and am receiving palliative treatment. I am on Femara and my tumor is stable. I am grateful for that and hopefully will remain stable. When the Femara stops being effective I will go on to another drug ..But I feel good ( except for arthritis in both shoulders).,and at 71 I will take it !
-
simimom that's for your success story. That makes me very happy and hopefully all of us will live a longer life after IBC.
