ARIMIDEX with ovarian suppression for premenopausal women

Options

thanks to advances in medicine, clinical trials show a significant reduction in recurrence of breast cancer for premenopausal women. My onc is very excited and wants to switch me off tamoxifen, which I tolerate very very well, to this new drug combo of Arimidex with ovarian suppression (prob via Lupron injections)

I know it's the right thing to do I am just so scared. Been on tamoxifen for 2 years. I have a4 year old daughter. I am mostly concerned with quality of life on the ovarian suppressant. Not excited about menopause.

I would love some info about how people tolerate&cope. SEs of joint pain, vaginal dryness, hot flashes are my greatest concerns. I am 33 years old.

Well, you can always switch off the ovarian suppression and back onto the tamoxifen if you find the new protocol too difficult. You are the one who has to deal with the side effects on a daily basis. Quality of life is very important, although it seems, not many Oncologists give it much weight. And the good thing (considering your age} is it is temporary, so in the future, if you decide you want to have more kids, you can.
