Any one know what this is? I saw it today. I think it is a young bird and not very big. Maybe 10 inches.

I took a picture of a heron that looks very similar to this one. I looked it up at the time and I think it was called a Green Heron. -

Yes, that looks just like the Green Herons I looked up after you posted the little one so it might be Mom or Dad. When I was photographing the seven swans they kept diving for food. It took a while to get them all upright!
When I see or hear about loons it reminds me of the movie On Golden Pond.

Hubby took me to the zoo just to get out. We both love to take pictures. I took this one of a swan because I think they are so graceful and beautiful. I love the reflection in this pic.Love the "bottoms up" pic :-)

Hey Lisa,
I bought your camera tonight. Hopefully I can try it out tomorrow after charging the battery. I am excited! It is hopefully my dilemma with bird photography that could not be satisfied with my DSLR.

Is this thread just for wild birds? or can I post some other random bird pics? Just curious...as you can tell by my name, birds are my passion:-) I have a Canon point and shoot, too. It takes way better pics than the DSLR with a huge lens, and it's easier to zoom in without disturbing the birds. It's also lighter, and I carry mine everywhere. I am enjoying your bird pics. I wish I could catch a hummingbird...they are so pretty.

I put up a swing for the hummingbirds in my back yard ..they seem to like it but the hummer who is the king of the patio, is the one usually there.
