Thinking Out Loud.....

OK I'm still here...
On my way back from Cape Cod which was nice but home is nicer...
Stopped at DD's (#3) in MA to see the grandaughters.  It's tough here...too much change in a short time.  And I am not nearby so relationships have changed. 
Other than that, I'm great -- had a few nice days away with dinners out and no housework.  I think my nails grew....
My other DD (#1) is driving right by here tomorrow but I doubt her Dh would allow them to stop to say hi...they are going to Hyannis where I just stayed - they will catch the ferry to Nantucket.  They have a reservation; so I don't think they want to stop on the way.
My other DD (#2) sent my grandkids to camp for 7 weeks this summer.  They are only 10 and 8. 
What the heck is wrong with my family? 
My DS in San Francisco has not spoken to me since Memorial Day week end when we left California.  I emailed him twice this week and no response. 
blah blah blah I guess my family isn't much different than anyone elses....

Charlotte (6) and I did share some smiles and laughs tonight when we were reading a new book.   I will miss her so much...and she is showing signs of the stress and sadness of the move and the changes in her parents who will be separating.  Ouch...life is tough.  Caroline (3) won't remember much about this time.

OK FK, did I say enough????  This is dreadful!  I will think of something cheery to say next time I come here.

Oh -- I did see 16 huge seals right in front of me at the beach yesterday.  That was a great sight - I stood there watching them for a long time and took some pics.

Joan.........OMG......I spent last weekend with one of my 3 sons, his wife, 3 grown kids, and 4 G. Grandchildren.........I know what your thinking........beautiful weekend.............IT WAS THE WEEKEND FROM HELL............lucky if he said 25 words the whole time, miserable except for his immediate family....and....LOL.....its my house.......and this is the one who was glued to me from my dx. until I finished Rads....total loyalty.....so WTH happened........

I could go on and on......I have had kids drive right down the main road which runs 1 block from my house and not stop...................I saw 1 son xmas eve, then on JUne 8th, and not since........another who came for lunch 2 times a week, and called almost everyday......NOTHING  now...................

My 3 daughters are better, but for "girls" could try harder..............I guess we expect more from them......sometimes they are so caught up in their everyday stuff the forget too.

Maybe I expect too much, but I was an only child........never missed a day calling my mother, never...........and if I didn't call her she called me...........but this was everyday.........

How about getting text instead of a phone call......dosen't it take longer to punch a whole sentence into a phone then it does to punch 10 numbers into it..........I will never  understand............I always say "How is it that 1 mother can take care of so many kids, but so many kids can't take care of 1 mother............even harder is I have been without my husband since I was 56...........and 23 years in Sept......oh well.....shit happens.............

Ducky, how true are your words about how we took care of so many .....
Not nice that it is your house they are using without paying due respect to all you've done.  I don't get it...they don't want to acknowledge that we are getting older??  Well that's life and it will happen to them too.   I hope you enjoy the house while you are there.  I thought recently of enlarging my house so the kids could all be here together in the summer...hmmm I wonder what would really happen??    Good thing is I can always rent it out.
 Hey Ducky, why don't you surprise them and rent the house for the month of August?  Then take a cruise with the money....

FK, you are right...we gave so much and still do.  Because that is who we are.  The giving generation.  And we have raised a taking generation.
We need to make our own plans....so...any ideas?
