off to the jimmy buffet concert..... Love that these fake ones stay up on their own..... Haha

OMG…Dakota, that is just too spectacular. Way to go girl!!!
-
Edi - was getting excited about wedding, but the bride had a bad accident last weekend and fractured her collarbone quite badly - she is in so much pain - just don't know how she is going to manage to get the dress on because she can't move her arm at all! Very bad timing, and absolutely devastating. She goes to see an orthopaedic surgeon this Monday and they will decide whether to do surgery or not - will depend on how the bone is uniting! Praying for the best for her.
Good news for me at my MO - she said I am doing very well and she is happy - so that is good - still wants to see me every 3 months.
Jackpot - good luck with the decision making process - if it hurts, I think it is best to have something done, since pain is no fun to live with.
Momof2 - how the time at your cottage has flown by - I hope you have found it a restorative time - I am so looking forward to a break after the weddings are all over - just off to shop today for a dress! You should definitely get your shoulder looked at - that is just one of the worst types of pain because we use the shoulder joint for almost everything. I certainly would have the same concern as you being on painkillers for so long, but sometimes the need to take them is unavoidable!!! I am so glad that mine is finally feeling better, but will still need to do more more physio to improve the range of motion.
-
Hi 😎,
Adagio, oh noooo what a disaster for the bride. Hope they sort her out and soon. Did you get a dress ? Glad your news was good. 😀
Dakota, you rock !! Love it 😁
Nihahi, standing on my deck waving like a mad woman 🙆 After tomorrow all quiet again here, bit sad really 😢
Jackpot, we have your back. We will be in your pockets if you opt for removal 😃
Spending the day at a local festival tomorrow promoting help for BC sisters. Hope rain stays away. Wedding today was beautiful rain stayed away too. 😀 💒 💐
All being well of to Anglesey again next Sunday yay.
-
jackpot - good to find out that it is fat necrosis but agree with others that if area is painful it would be nice to have out; must have been very concerning for you while waiting to know
Adagio - good re: MO visit; oh no re: daughter and clavicle! Not needed at all right now! Hope she heals quickly
Edi - Anglesey sounds wonderful - hope you are able to go next weekend. Your fundraising efforts sound like they were very successful today, rest well!
Dakota - laughed - you do rock! Hopefully soon I can join you!
Spent a good portion of yesterday in my flower beds, they are coming along, today it is raining on and off so I tackled some kitchen cupboards that needed a good clean out! Tomorrow I have am appt at BCSCF and I have found out from Benny that she has an appt about the same time so we will go from there to tea until I have to travel back to work for a 1230 meeting. I will make sure we look at dates for week of August 11th for the bigger Calgary group to have lunch.
Take care everyone!
-
Oh wow, give Benny a great big hug from ALL of us!! :-)
-
I will definitely do that, Jennie!
-
Adagio…I am so sorry to hear about your daughter's mishap. The collar bone is the only bone I have ever broken (I think). Mine healed with a brace when I was in 8th grade. So I do hope she will be on the mend quickly. Dang, it is always something!
Today Keiko arrived and my DH and I mounted him on the entrance to the cottage. We will take him inside when we leave. Therefore if you come to Yachats and see Keiko, we are Home…otherwise, I am on the other coast!
The arimidex showed its ugly side effects this weekend with crippling knee pain. WOW, I felt like I needed a handicap tag on the car. Then yesterday, I was relatively pain free from shoulder and knees. Whatever….pain means I am still living.
I have truly enjoyed my time resting on the coast. We certainly got a lot done, considering the condition things were in when I arrived. Next year, I will work on the yard (not my talent by any means)… I might have to hire someone to do the work. Perhaps next year, I can use this as home base and visit other spots on the west coast and Canada.
Hope everyone has a great day!
Love,
Jenifer

Dakota, you look AMAZING!
Adagio, glad to hear your appointment with the MO went well. There was a mix up with mine so it has been rescheduled to Aug 22nd (might have been nice if they told me that before I traveled to their office!).
That must have given you a terrible fright, Jackpot, but so glad it turned out to be fat necrosis. I was reading recently that it can be a fairly common side effect of certain surgeries. Is this considered a lipoma? My DH has had several of those removed.
Had my root canal today - no fun at all but at least not painful. Off to see the plastic surgeon for an initial consult re: DIEP tomorrow. Still of two minds about it, but if I do opt for surgery it would probably be about 8 months from now because of the way my work is lining up.
Envy you being on the Oregon coast, Momoftwo! Used to go to Yachats fairly often when I was at Oregon State. Great to see that Keiko is installed in his proper place!
Off to Canada this weekend, this time to Ottawa. My brother-in-law was recently diagnosed with renal cell carcinoma and is having a nephrectomy on Friday. Believe it or not, my 43 year old sister has never had a driver's license. Mum and my other sister, who both live in Ottawa, and I are going to assist with chauffeuring, cooking and child care for my 6 year old nephew, at least for the first few days.
-
momof2 - great picture of you and Keiko! You look great, sorry to read of the knee pain, hope it stays settled down
Caitlin - glad the root canal was not painful for you. Maybe you and I will go through DIEP together, I am also of two minds but put my name on the list as it can take awhile. I see my breast surgeon next week to discuss whether to do a prophylactic mastectomy on the left side at the same time.
Hope all goes well with your brother-in-law's surgery on Friday.
I had tea with Benny yesterday, her hair is really growing, she looked good. She is trying to slow down a little on her farm activities but it is hard for her. She is very happy with her new horse.
Take care everyone
-
hi all
Caitlin61...no it wasn't lipoma which is soft to press, my lump was fat necrosis which is a hard lump, I had my follow up appt today and they have decided to surgically remove if because of it's size (it's 2.5cm) I've never been so happy to be told I'm having surgery...just got to wait for appt now....Glad the root canal wasn't painful sooo hate the dentist
Take care
Gill
-
jackpot - good news about the surgery - hope you don't have to wait for too long.
Mom of 2 - you look great - your hair has come in really quickly! I love the whale Keiko! Hopefully your pains settle down soon! My daughter had to have surgery this morning on her shoulder because it was not just a break it was also displaced so she had to have a plate and screws put in her collar bone. Can you imagine just two and a half weeks before her big day - who could ever have guessed? I don't know if I will survive this, so I am practicing my deep breathing and drinking a lot of coffee! Next year you could visit Vancouver - it would be lovely to meet you in person.
Caitlin- I need a root canal done also, but I keep putting it off !

Good Morning Ladies,
Things are quiet again, so I decided to wake everyone up!
Adagio…How is DD doing? I do hope she is mending well and can walk down the aisle in 9 days. I will keep you in my thoughts. Freak accidents seem to have happened to several of my friends this summer. Thankfully, your DD will recover.
Movie…Miss you! I truly hope that your stress level has been more manageable, having help with your dear mom.
Edi…You looked so fabulous in the last picture! Hope you have had a great summer.
Liefie…How was the big get together? Did you survive all the preparation and manage to enjoy everyone?
Nihahi…I am leaving this beautiful coast on Aug. 4…I really enjoyed our spiritual connections this summer.
Websister…Has your ankle healed? I suppose if you had to have that accident, it was better to heal while the snow was not on the ground. Still, I hope you have been able to enjoy the summer.
Catlin…You will need to come back to your "roots" next year. This time I promise that the construction will be done. The bedrooms are complete and the bath renovation will be going on this winter.
So next Monday, we leave Yachats for our vacation to Georgia. Hopefully this year I can get through the month of September without another recurrence of the monster that brought me to this forum. I am planning the take a chalk paint class and learn techniques on how to paint all these "needy" pieces of used furniture. I have another sewing project for bedroom #3. And I will be reorganizing my sewing room to use it for other things. I also must deal with all the purple stuff in DD's bedroom. Perhaps there is some bride out there needing all things purple…
So my coffee cup is now empty. It is a beautiful day in Yachats. Now everyone go enjoy this last day of July!
Take care,
Jenifer

Thanks for the wake up, Momof2!
I will watch for and read the responses to Momof2's questions, the summer is going by quickly, isn't it?
Momof2 - hope you have a very enjoyable vacation in Georgia, glad you could have this time on the coast. Hope that September goes by very non-eventfully for you.
We are off on vacation for two weeks starting Saturday. We had a wedding last weekend that we attended and another one this weekend on Sunday - it is in a smaller town north of us. Following that we head west to BC and then down to NW Washington with my oldest son and family for a week, then I'll have some time at home to catch up with some people, including some ladies from this thread - very much looking forward to it.
Re: my ankle - it is not healing well, so I am back in a splint and asked to rest, ice, elevate - very frustrating. I'm told that if when I return from vacation there has been no improvement then they will do some more imaging and go from there - hopefully that won't mean surgery.
I saw my breast surgeon yesterday re: prophylactic mastectomy left side when I have the DIEP on right and he is happy to do that so his office is contacting my PS office to coordinate. A little scary as more things are put into place for the reconstruction.
I saw the genetics clinic today and, as expected, the BRCA 1 and 2 was negative, now I am booked to see the geneticist in September re: investigation for Cowden's/Lynch syndrome - seems like a long process but getting there.
I also saw the dentist last week and need a crown on a back tooth so that is booked for September 4th.
Told my husband last night that I am tired of appointments - glad to be going away for a bit.
Take care, everyone

Hi all.....popping in just to let you know that I read, but don't often post-I think of you gals often......wish my life was a little more sane! But, it is what it is.....my mother is gradually going downhill in a tailspin........incontinence is my biggest issue right now, as she seldom walks much of anywhere......and eating has taken a beating.....all par for the course......
Momof.....so sorry I did not get down to visit you! Next summer? I hope to be a bit "freer" than I am at the moment.
Websister-sorry to hear you are not healing.....and wishing you best of luck on the recon......if I can be of any help, don't hesitate to pm me! I had BMX/DIEP in Jan 2013.
Edi....I see you on FB....where have you gone to?
Nihahi.....am loving your hiking pics!
To everyone else, I hope you are doing well.......I will be back to post, but know that I read every day!
Love to all! Jackie
-
I always read and you are all in my thoughts & prayers. But I don't post much because I feel like everyone else has moved on and got back to their lives so much better than me. In fact it seems to be getting worse, not better over time. The various docs are no help, they refuse to accept that their treatments caused all this misery. All they offer is more drugs, forget that. I'm going to see a counselor soon, maybe she can help.
Hugs to all. Edi, Benny, & others from early days, would love to see you check in more often, but totally understand the moving on thing.
-
hi ladies I here. I read all the time !! On vacation this week yay !!! Not going anywhere but happy not to be working !!! All is well. Still have the additional tamoxifen weight yay me but oh well. Hope everyone has a great weekend !
-
dear jennie......I hope you do connect with a counselor. Not wanting to use meds to help bridge the gap between hope and despair is a personal choice, but all of us need help of some kind, at some time. Most women who find ways to "move on", I believe still have the same fears and tears as you are dealing with, but have found ways to balance that reality with everyday "life". Hopefully you are doing what you can in areas of life that you have full control over, like healthy nutrition and lifestyle. Have you discussed your depression/anger with your docs?? Some women do find that Hx therapy causes depression, and your docs should be aware of how you are feeling about things.
Please forgive me if I am way off base, but I think I hear a lot of anger in your words....I was angry too, for many years after my initial dx and sx and tx. Angry at the whole medical profession, and also at just about everyone else who crossed my path. It was my way of dealing with the fears and depression. It certainly wasn't a healthy or helpful coping strategy. It took me quite awhile to consciously recognize that although I hated everything that had been "done" to me, it all had been done to save my life. I finally got tired of using all my energy to be angry, and that is when I started to be able to turn things around and be able to live and appreciate the life that had been "saved" for me. I would have given anything to have support like what can be found on the BCO threads. I would also, give anything, to have those lost years of anger back.....wouldn't a "mulligan" be great in real life! I guess I'm saying... stay connected on the threads (it will help you realize you are not "alone" in your feelings) and hopefully, pursue that counselling, to help you move towards the future. I know it doesn't feel like it, but you are still so "young" in bc years. It truly does get better, and easier.....it takes work, and more energy and faith then you may believe you have, but I know you can get to a better place!!!! If I could do it, anyone can do it. (hugs).
movie...I know the struggles you have going on at home.....I appreciate the effort and energy it takes, but your "check in" posts are so appreciated.
momof.....I still set aside a bit of time each week, to "send" thoughts to you all. Travel safely back to Atlanta.
adagio....hope the wedding is beautiful.....Every wedding has a story or two that become part of the memories....sounds like your daughter's already got that covered.
websister....not happy to hear about the slow/no healing of that ankle. I am very much looking forward to our get together with benny. If I can be of any help re: flap questions.....bring it on. Same to you Caitlin.....yes....it's a big surgery.....but I'd do it again in a heartbeat, if I had to make that choice again.
dakota....I fail to detect any excess anywhere on you.....enjoy your time off. I hope you find ways to drop a line or two a little more often.
edi....you're gone again....hoping to hear from you too.

Hi girls, my family left a week ago, and I have been recovering ever since - lol. It was very hard work to host so many people for 2 weeks, but so wonderful to be doing nice stuff together. They loved it here. The weather has been fantastic these last few days, and I'm having my own little vacation on the dock, swimming, reading, sleeping - I even have a light tan. Have read all the posts, but can't respond to all of them.
Adagio, how's your DD doing? Could not believe what I read, and hope the bride will be fit for the big day, which is coming up really soon, eh?
Jennie, so very sorry you feel the way you do, but I think you are on the right track steering away from more drugs. Counselling sounds like a very good option. Hugs to you!
Websister, by now you are on holiday, and I hope you are relaxing. Sorry to hear the ankle is still giving you trouble, but excited about your recon surgery. I can totally recommend DIEP. It worked out really well for me.
Jenifer, like the photo of you and Keiko. Sounds like you will stay busy with all your plans. Good for you!
Dakota, Movie, Edi, Nihahi and all others, best wishes to you all! I'm going to eat an ice-cream now. Temps here are crazy. On Saturday it was 41 C in our town. That's why I'm staying so close to the water. LOL.
Here is Emily two weeks ago with my niece. Five months old already . . . time is flying.

-

Liefie… Little Emily is just so "cuddle worthy". So happy that you had a great time with your family.
We are in Wyoming tonight…the second day of travel. I was sad to leave the coast, but I will try to stay busy and away from BC this fall. After 2 years of getting a diagnosis after vacation in Oregon, I am a little anxious.
I am learning to down load pictures so here is another attempt! Random pictures of the wedding. There was only one picture all the tables I fretted over. I would have liked to have had a full view of the reception, before it was assaulted by all the guests. My DD is with her junior bridesmaid that attended to the flower pups. My doxies were dressed, but the bride would not let them attend.
The DH is a mere 6'7"…LOLEdi… I was going for the Downton Abby look with my hat! Hats are difficult to find on this side on the pond.
Adagio…I do hope the bride has healed enough to enjoy her day and things are on schedule. This has most definitely been the year for weddings!
Time to get some sleep. Next stop is Nebraska!
Jenifer
-
Mom of 2 - what great pictures! You look fantastic - very British looking with the hat and all, and I love the colour of your outfit - stunning! The bride is beautiful and her new husband is a and handsome young man - I wish them every happiness. Things are getting very busy here with lots of out of country relatives and still lots of running around to do especially now that DD cannot drive because of her injury! I just finished the wedding programs, now the rehearsal dinner on Thursday with about 28 people at my house - yikes!! It is all go! Hope the remainder of your journey is uneventful and that you arrive in Georgia safely!
Liefie - enjoy your down time and savour all the wonderful memories of the great time you have had with your family. Glad you have lots of photos!
-
Jenifer, I agree with Adagio. You looked really fancy-schmancy, elegant and classy. That lavender/purple colour suits you perfectly! Those two dogs are too cute, dressed up like that - lol.Congrats to the beautiful, happy couple, and safe travels! Keep us posted.
Adagio, good luck with all the wedding arrangements. It is hard work, but a wedding is such a happy occasion - enjoy, and don't sweat the small stuff. Let them help you.
-
Sorry, I've been lurking more than posting, but can I enlist a pocket party for tomorrow morning please ladies?
Going for a biopsy for more lumps on my mastectomy side. Pretty depressed and anxious!

-
In your pockets, Mo.....sorry to hear about the pothole. Stay in touch.
-
Morwenna, hang in there, we are with you. Stay busy!
-
Gosh it has been awhile since I came over here! Have missed you ladies!
I haven't read or caught up on much, but Hello! and ((hugs!)) to all! Nihahi, Liefie, Edi, Dakota, Websister, caitlin61, *and there are more... I can hardly believe it has been just over a year!
Looking at some of the pics, I am awed in how great everyone looks! And Liefie, Emily and your niece are beautiful! Nihahi, how are you?? I have so missed you all. I have come over and lurked now and again... Edi...how are things across the pond? xx
Well, I guess I should go ahead and tell on myself... my DS recently graduated Salutatorian... And he is starting college on the 16th of this month! I only have one more younger than him..... *tears
Anyhow, if it's alright I am going to show off my DS's after grad party... I am so incredibly proud of him! He's the one in the middle, front and center. All of his friends are there with him!

I will come say Hi! more as I can! I'm usually here somewhere! Thanks for letting me 'show-off'...
-
mo- as always we are here for you !!!!! Alive congrats and show off please I LOVE the pictures!
-
Hi Alive! Good to hear from you - more pictures, please! As a mother you have earned the right to be proud of your children. We work hard enough to raise them, right?
-
Mo…I will be in your pockets. Keeping fingers crossed that all is benign. Let us know .
Alive…You are absolutely a proud mom! Congratulations to the graduate. What college will DS be attending? In fact I am currently in St. Joseph, MO tonight on my way home to GA.
I am ready to be home on the East coast! One day I am going to have to make a decision about all the driving…I had rather fly to OR. But I would miss my fur friends too much.
Take care,
Jenifer
-
Hah. So it seems I'm just a lumpy person. In the end they decided the ultrasound showed nothing worth worrying about., so no biopsy. Presumably more scar tissue, and I should quit being a worry wart!
