Mom started Arimidex-any tips for her?

Hello All,

My mom was recently diagnosed with Stage II ILC. As part of her treatment, they had her start Arimidex. She is (in my opinion) a relatively healthy, active 59 year old and doesn't have too many additional health issues except maybe some aches and pains. 

She started the Arimidex yesterday and I don't know how fast it works, but she is already starting to complain about joint pain. I am wondering, does anyone have any tips or tricks for this side effect or any other side effects that might pop up? Anything we should be aware of? I want to make all of it as easy as possible on her. 

Thanks for any help-I am sure this has been asked a thousand times, but I am new at this!

    You're very sweet to want to help your mom out! You're sure to receive some very helpful tips from other members here shortly. In the meantime, you may want to check out the main Breastcancer.org site's side effect page on Bone and Joint Pain for some really good tips and tricks to help manage this effect. Also, the Arimidex page has some good info on what to expect with this medication, with links to pages to help manage other side effects associated with this drug.
