Hi Leggy.  Sounds like you got some information to think about.  Since I only had the one breast removed to begin with, my plastic surgeon said no implants on radiated skin just like yours.  I ended up having a profilactic mx on my other good breast and an implant put in that one.  No cancer was found in that side so no treatment was necessary. The cancer side was then reconstructed at the same time by taking fat from my stomach .  I had enough fat down there for the one breast.  Sounds like you would do the lat flap since you are thin.  I don't know about the "no" chemo comment.  There are many chemos other than the TAC that most of us were originally on.  I don't think you can have the adrimyacin sp? again because of your heart but am not sure.  Maybe Kelly could answer you more on that subject.  My cancer showed up elsewhere in my body. Where yours was a local reoccurance, I don't know about the chemos they would use.  Sorry I am not probably making any sense, it has been so long ago.  I will say the reconstructive surgeries were no walk in the park, and there were more than one, but they did turn out as I expected.  I did not like being lopsided as I had large breasts to begin.  That is one reason for my decision on the profilatic mx.  My plastic surgeon felt I would have a better outcome if I had the other breast removed and he could work with both.  Good luck.  I will pray for you.  Give Wolfie a hug....HD

Leggy,   I cant beleive you have to go through all of this.   I dont know what the answer would be concerning the breasts.  I had a lumpectomy so I have'nt had to deal with that.   As for the chemo,  I can only imagine that you dont want to hear that and I would think like you.   Go on a vacation, since it is too difficult to want to deal with.   Keeping you in my prayers.     Sounds like HunkyD can give you some good advice at this time.

Keeping all of you in my prayers.    Hugs, Karen

    Hi Hunky and all,

Had the mx on Nov. 29th and it still hurts, but the Breast Surgeon says I'm doing good....matter of opinion.  I will see the plastic surgeon, but I think it will be better to have both removed.  I hate having a uniboob too. Anyway I'm sick, with a cough and laryngitis Happy New Year!

    Wolfie say's Happy New Year!!!!

    Hi everyone!

I had my reconstruction, and yesterday my doctor took out the final drain.  Looks like a boobette now!  Had to have a LATFlap, so I have a large scare on the back and well scars on the small boob.  It's got a few more visits to the doctor to fill in a bit and match the other Bcup.  Then we'll see about the other one.  I think I'll have a mast./recon on the good breast after some more healing time.

    Sure hope your all OK!

    Love, Jan aka Leggy

Hi everyone. I decided to check in. I am still on the same chemo but may be changing soon. Leggy, glad you made it through recon so well. As I look back, that was a busy year for me when I had both mine done. Hope everyone else is well. Almost to 5 year mark. I hope I make it. I notice KKing still checking in. Take care! Hunkydory

    Hi Hunkydory,

It's so good to here from you!  Yes I have a mini-boobette now and think I'll pump it up a bit more, then I'll work on the other one.  Funny, you never notice just how saggy your boobs are until you start getting a new little pery breast, next to old one.  I'm going to set up an appointment next week with the plastic surgeon, to have a mast./recon, on the other one.

I was going to go to Italy in June, to visit my BFF but not this year now.  I really can't wait to have this boob thing over with.

Has anyone heard from Kelly?  We're dwindling down now, arn't we.

    God bless,

    Jan

Hi Girls!  I had the Mastectomy on the good boob on tuesday April 9th, and so far so good. Last Wednesday my PS pumped it up quite a bit because I didn't feel any pain and I was feeling so good, but man I hurts now.  Mostly my fault, the weathers been so nice and I had a gardeners bug, and worked to much in my little yard.  The scars are healing but look horrible so I don't look at them unless I have too.

I sure miss you girls and wish we all posted more often like we used too.

If your out there, I still love you and miss you!

Take care of yourself and I will keep in touch.

    Hi y'all,

It's been a rough month, my Mom was diagnosed with lung cancer and it had spread all over, so they sent her home with pain pills  and set her up with Hospice.  She died peacefully at home on the 8th of June.  My friend had come out to find a place to live out here, and he  helped me go through all this, cooking for mom, making her coffee in the morning while she could enjoy it.  He now is a roommate and helping with the bills....Thank God for Robert!

I'am now in healing mode after expansions and will get the implants on Sept. 28th!  Can't wait to get rid of these hard boobs.

Summer is here the high is expected to be 97degree!  Indoor day for me.

Love you all,  miss you all!

Leggy, sorry to hear about your mom.  Very tough time for you.  Glad your roomate is helping out.  Is that more than a platonic thing? Wink  I am still on chemo.  Abraxane.  I have been on chemos for a year now.  Boy, you will be glad to get the exchange done.  I do know that feeling.  Well, just popped in and saw your note.  It is one hot mutha' here!  Hugs to all the girls here!

    Hi HunkyD,

No, my roommate and I are just friends, we had a thing once a long time ago, and now he has a girl friend, and it just platonic now.  Yes I can't wait to the exchange done!  My boobs are hard as rocks, and I feel like I'm carrying two giant boulders on my chest.  What was I thinking when I wanted a C cup????

Sure glad you and KKing are still around!  I miss all you girls!

    Love ya,

    Leggy

Hi girls, it's been awhile since my last post, hope y'all doing well.  I finished all my reconstruction!

I made a big life change!  Since my mom passed away, I was having a hard time with finances so I put the house up for sale again and sold it , closing in May!  I moved to Tyler Texas!  I bought a cute little Craftsman House in what they call The Azalea District, which is the historical area, so my house was built in 1935, and is cute as a button.  I love it here, people are so friendly, full of Southern Charm!

Best of all I can afford to live here!

Hope someone still check in sometimes.  HunkyD, how are you?  God Bless!

Hi girls!  I am not from this thread, but I was a friend of HunkyDory. I had kept in contact with her up until Dec. of 2013, after that she quit writing to me. So because of that, I had no way of getting a hold of her. I did have her address and had sent letters, but no replies, same with email. Anyways, that oh so sweet and funny girl is an angel. HD passed away on April 5th, 2014.

OH I am so saddened by this news. I know that she was undergoing chemo again but I was so hoping she would be allright. Thank you for letting me know.

This disease sure sucks. I don't remember seeing your name, I take it that you are doing well, Goldie? Take care of yourself.

I mainly post on another thread for fun. I am also a Stage IV with mets to the bone, just haven't changed my profile. I am also doing a chemo that she did and would have loved to pick her brain.
Loved that girl, and it just breaks my heart.

I am really sorry to hear about HunkyDory. I used to read this thread often when my sister first started treatment and HunkyDory was a backbone of this thread. I am glad to see you KKing! I remember your help from back then. I wish there were more new posts here so we would know that people are still out there. I know that some of the people, like HunkyDory, who fought a long time and inspired us with their humour and courage are angels now. But I would love to see new posts from anyone from back them (ChocolateLover, RoverGirl, GramE, Kellke, SuePeet, Vinogal, Wyoming, liz19, StaceyR, Nancy, Bonnie02, Westie..) I know if people aren't posting it can be because things are going well. When my sister finished chemo and radiation, and was sent out into the world with NED, we didn't come back anymore. She felt terrible on tamoxifen and 4.5 years of it was a long haul. They took her off when the cancer progressed and it was like a heavy grey blanket lifted off her brain and we could see her happy and enjoying life again. She has been on fulvestrant for 18 months and it has been fantastic. She was happy, energetic, optimistic and largely asymptomatic. But now with a new tumour, her run on fulvestrant is over and we are back looking for new treatments and hope.

Hi Leggy! I didn't hear from anyone else. I just saw your post today. I came back to the site again, as I always seem to, when things are up in the air. My sister has finished her run on palbociclib and letrozole and has to find something else. But she is feeling good and we have been pretty lucky so far I hope somehow we can stay lucky. I hope you're still liking Texas and feeling good. Your house sounds great.

Sad to post that my dear sister Ais, who I have been posting for for 11 years, passed away May 6th, 11 years and 3 weeks after being diagnosed Stage IIIC. She was a warrior, in cancer and in her faith, and she inspired me every day.
