Thanks River ... I haven't heard back about the test yet.  I did find another company that I'm going to take a dictation transcription test with tomorrow.  I had to print out TWENTY-THREE pages of instructions and company specs just to type a 25 minute dictation.  Oh well ... all this practice is good experience for me.  I also found a college on the internet that offers a free on-line terminology class.  So I've been working on that trying to refresh my memory!

I kind of did the same thing to my hair today.  Except I accidentally rubbed cocoa butter all over my hair when I got out of the shower.  Since Tank and Maggie are the only ones who can see me, I had to laugh about it.

Hope everyone is having a good Tuesday.

Oh .. before I forget, I am still trying to find someone who has Sunnyflowers home address or email.  I have something I want to send to her.

    hugs,

    Bren

    Welcome Brigadoon.

I wanted to give an update on my gf who did not have health insurance (couldn't afford it on her sub 20K annual salary) but desperately needed hip replacement surgery (she's 5 years too young for Medicare).  She got her surgery and well on her way to being able to work again thanks to Obamacare.  Her out of pocket was $2200 and she was even able to get the more advanced anterior surgery.  Good for her, she has been very good with her money despite living on the edge and was able to pay all the copays and out of pocket and her $45 monthly premium.

I feel so bad for those states that have denied their citizens enhanced Medicaid and/or those people who refuse to get an ACA plan (and make the rest of us pay or the cut the nose of to spite their own faces response) for whatever reason.

    Hi Guys,

I'm too depressed to write much ... I bombed on the test.  Feel so bad that I can't even get a crappy minimum wage job.  Maybe I'll do better on the test I'm taking tomorrow ... it's an actual transcription test, not a terminology/English grammar test.

    hugs,

    Bren

Bren -- I'm sorry to hear that, but face it -- some things don't work out because something better is coming along and you will be so ready -- no strings and ties to detach from any other place.  Just say yes and get down to business.

RR -- too funny.  Sometimes in weather like this.....I just wash my hair and let it dry in its natural state.  It doesn't actually look all that great, but due to the perm there are curls and as long as I don't mess too much with it.....the frizz keeps hiding.

Quinn -- those governors who refused M-Aid expansion should be thrown out of office.  They are letting people suffer and die, for the most small-minded and hideous reason.  They belong on a chain gang with no Insurance of their own.

Just had another super pour-down here..........had it most of the night.  We are set, wet, wet.  There is some more of this around I believe, but will wait for a weather report because I'm not sure if we are in the hit category, the miss category, or the hit and miss which we were in all day today but have had two good soakers out of it.

welcome. Brigadoon.  So happy you found us.

Bren, sorry about your employment frustrations. I just do believe that you are going to find something that fits you better.

Haven't been around much as I was out of town for a couple days. Had a contract opportunity come up so went north to work on some firewalls. Glad to be home. Tomorrow will be catch up with home stuff!

Hi girls! We arrived home from Istanbul about 30 minutes ago after a grueling trip back. The getting there wasn't so great either. Used a wheelchair in all airports except Kansas City which is small enough for me to maneuver on my own. Anyway I am so bushed and SOOOO happy to be back in my own little nest. Pics and more to come after a long rest. ZZZZZZZ

    Morning Gals,

I'm starting fresh this a.m. with a new attitude ... just going to keep trying the best I can to find a psych job.  If there was any chance of finding any kind of local job I would take that too.  It's hard living in the poorest area of VA.  I did find a few companies on the internet that are exclusively psych, so will apply with them this week.  I have a big (23 pages of instructions) transcription test I need to take for another company, but my mom is coming today, so I think I'll wait until she leaves on Friday a.m.

Just walked the dogs ... we have to go early cause it gets too dang humid later in the day.

Hi Yorkie ... glad you're back safe and sound, except for some "grueling" travel.  Can't wait to see some pictures.

    hugs,

    Bren

Getting ready for a hot, humid day here too Bren.  Ick -- one of my favorite words.  More rain predicted for tomorrow.  Well, we would likely cool down again for a short while.  Got a ton of things to work on today.  Taking my Bichon for his summer cut......and afterward, another two dogs to go....for cuts.

Bren, I have fingers crossed that something will turn up for you.  I know about living in 'depressed' areas.....they are affordable, but a challenge when you still need to work.  It has always been 'depressed' here.  Fingers crossed and hoping I don't jinx myself but in the 17 yrs. I've been home I've never applied for a job.  Hate to admit....I wouldn't know how to go about it anymore.  I do think most of the people I've talked too that applied for anything....had to do it online.  When I did apply for jobs ( long time ago now ) it was the old-fashioned way....paper application and maybe an interview or two.

Since the U.S. cable and broadcast media seem to prefer to criticize the President, rather than laud his efforts, I thought I'd let you all know about a couple of events for which his diplomatic efforts have produced positive results.

    1.  Syria has handed over all of its chemical and biological weapons to an international inspection team for destruction.

    2.  After the President's telephone "chat" with Putin yesterday, Putin asked his government to rescind a previous resolution allowing the use of Russian military in Ukraine.

I've scanned several different internet accounts, and conclude the above to be true.

C4C - now I'd never heard any of that about Obama.  All I hear about are his low approval ratings, though I recently read a discussion how he will retrospectively be deemed a very good POTUS.  He had to dig us out of the hole of losing 800,000 jobs a month and an economy nearly collapsed, two wars and 40 million people without healthcare.  I think if we had an administration like the last, we'd be in a war in Syria, Iraq and never leave Afghanistan.  Our debt would double and the healthcare situation would be more dire.

Yorkie - welcome home!  First off, when you get a chance, you might read that Sunny is not here anymore.  I'm sorry you had so many issues with navigating airports.  How was Turkey that way?  Looking forward to pictures.

And today Boehner says he's going to "sue" the President over his use of executive authority.  In other words, since Congress wouldn't do ANYTHING, they now are going to sue because a couple things have actually been accomplished.  Their goal, of course, was to make certain that nothing was accomplished.  Oh crap.  I'm just sick and tired of this stuff.  The guy in Mississippi who lost last night (can't remember his name...  McDaniels????)  Anyway, he lambasted his opponent (Cochran???) because he "reached across the aisle" and therefore "turned his back on conservative ideals".  To translate, he talked to the darker skinned people and they voted for him.

GG -- a link so all can read if they like: Vhttp://www.addictinginfo.org/2014/06/25/boehner-house-republicans-hilariously-sue-president-obama-over-executive-orders/

Just when you think surely someone in the GOP will pull their head out of their arse' long enough to, if not do or say something with a bit of intelligence about it somewhere, they turn this jewel up.  Have they not heard about snowballs in hell and the fate that befalls them in regard to their longevity.

No kidding -- it seems in my humble opinion, with the balance of the really lg. amt of stupid things they have done, stacked up against what they have refused to do.....and I'd say the clown car over there is full.  If they wish to keep on looking like people who don't have enough sense to come in out of the rain.......just let them go ahead I guess.  They will end up with hopefully every thing they deserve and then some and I doubt very much they will like it.

So many wonderful words of welcome and I want to respond to lots of info.  I picked a terrible time to try to join the discussion as my 8 & 9 year old grandsons are here from FL for two weeks (Leaving Saturday)  It has been wonderful but I don't have enough pop or brain cells left at the end of the day to respond.  I can predict that I will have a lot of re-reading and responding to do for awhile.

    Thanks!

Understand perfectly Brigadoon.  We will be right here when your ready.

In the meantime I'd have to say love this happened to someone so shy of brain cells.. http://www.addictinginfo.org/2014/06/25/bachmann-silly/  A bit surprised that it came from Fox News...Tundra Tootsie Tart should be next.

    E.  Meant to say that I read a number of times about how few Executive Orders Pres. Obama has put out.  In fact, I think there is a graphic showing  the last few Presidents.   I do think the joke will be on them when their smoke screen dissipates.

IllinoisLady - I saw this on Chris Hayes tonight. What is the T(terrible) Party going to do if FOX stops shilling for them.  First Megan Kelly takes on Dick and now this?

I love it,  -- watch it gag and writhe and squirm in fear.  I bet Faux News  ( ratings un-good )  worry about some of the jeers.  I mean truth only has one face and now and then they accidentally see it.   Even they have to get real on occasion.

I am not sure.  My sister is a FOX NEWS watcher an is smack dab in the middle of their demographic.  She phoned the other day very upset by all the war mongering on the right and our views were very similar.  She lives in Texas, an interesting State.  On one hand you have the Crazies - Ted Cruise. Louie Gomert,  their LT GOV. Greg Dewherst and Attorney General Greg Abbot a nd Rick Perry.  RUN (as in leave the State) or if you are a Democrat RUN for any office.

On the other hand you've got Austin, U of T - a liberal collection of great accomplished faculty and students. Wendy Davis,  Letica Van De Putte, (LBJ, Lady Bird, Ann Richards, Molly Ivins, ghosts that are starburst but left wit and wisdom as their legacy.) And we can't forget Willie Nelson, The Dixie Chicks, and a large minority party who has no friends in the State Republican party.

They need to be blue and these groups could be the ticket to change.
