Beautiful garden, Mrs. M. Just lovely! And well done!!!
-
Mrs M., your garden is lovely!
And my fun is to do what Dory said - just keep swimming.

Thanks for the compliments, ladies. Here's a photo of my back fence with climbing roses in full bloom:
-
MrsM - Love the roses picture! So beautiful! It makes me wish I had even a tiny bit of a green thumb.
-
Wow! Thanks for the pics of summer in my winter! Despite being the start of winter here, however, our camellias are blooming. I think they're confused. Your roses are stunning and I love the way they go up the fence.
-
divine mrs. M,
Regardless of size, your garden is lovely. My patio is the size of a postage stamp and I mostly grow produce in our extended summers. I may be inspired to try some winter flower this year.
My school was designated a California Distinguished School. I wrote part of the application so was invited to attend a luncheon for the formal presentation. It was nice to see my school recognized and to enjoy lunch with my colleagues. Tomorrow night my Yankees are in town. Can't wait to see them! Have a good weekend all.

Congrats, Caryn! And have fun at the Yankees game!

I go & do more now than before dx last year of bone mets. My husband got speed boat few weeks ago. We took ride & he opened it up, felt like kid again!!! Plan to ski by summers end. Love the beach, & watching sunset when at our lake house.
-
As they say here in New Zealand, Sue...Good on ya mate! What a great goal!

I, too, enjoy reading about what everyone is doing for fun and seeing pictures of gorgeous brides-to-be, crazy wigs, and beautiful gardens. I had a week at the beach with my sister from NC and my cousin's son and his wife and child from Ohio. They had never had a family vacation and enjoyed the ocean so much. It was such a joy to see the ocean through someone else's eyes though I don't ever take its beauty for granted. On Father's Day DH and I took youngest son and our grandson to an orioles game. This week I get chemo so will probably have a few days rest before the fun begins again!

This made me laugh - the older ladies' anthem. Older ladies are Divine!

We're in New York for a long weekend. The weather is perfect--sunny and warm. Laughed ourselves silly at the Tony award-winning musical, "A Gentleman's Guide to Love and Murder," hit several exhibits at the Metropolitan Museum and the Morgan Library, enjoyed an outstanding new play, "The Realistic Joneses," and are currently collapsed in our hotel room before heading out to dinner and another show. This has been a good test of my new hip. I have to walk much more slowly than I'd like, but I don't limp anymore and I have much less pain than before. I want it to be perfect, of course, but it's improving every day. Soon I will feel 25 again, right?

Nice to hear that lots of fun stuff is going on,
Tina, the trip sounds great. I grew up in the Bronx and dearly miss Broadway. Hey, if we get enough body parts replaced maybe we can be 25 again
-
Great news, Tina! What a fun outing!

I haven't been away for more than a long weekend in several years due to aging parents and in-laws. No more! I will not let another vacation go by where I am feeling good and not have some extended fun. I'm going to fly to Spokane. Friends who moved 3 hours north to Nelson, Canada will meet us there and drive us to their new home. Then back to Spokane to rent a car and ROAD TRIP! Will drive to San Francisco to fly back to L.A. I'm a native southern californian who has never been farther north along the pacific coast than Napa. Whoo Hoo!
-
What a fantastic vacation! I spent my summers in the Pacific northwest with my grandmother (a school librarian) and we road tripped all over. What fun you'll have. And I love the drive from SF to LA; used to do it every year. Have a blast!!
-
just got back from seeing "my fair lady" at the flat rock playhouse. One of my favorites! I was really impressed with the proformance!
-
Thursday I met with a friend I haven't seen for almost FORTY YEARS!!!! It was the BEST day ever. Some friendships can come back with all the love there even after a big gap.

Aaaaauuhhhh!!!!!
Yesterday I started watching Season 1 of Downton Abbey and am THOROUGHLY hooked! Love it!!!
-
I loved the first two seasons of Downton Abbey. Will not comment on the third. Enjoy!

My Dh and I are getting ready for a long weekend in Yosemite. I haven't been in ages. I've always wanted to stay at the Ahwahnee Hotel, so we managed to book our last night there. The hotel fills up months in advance, and we sort of decided to go spur of the moment, so our first two nights will be in a condominium just inside the park.
Husband is quite the hiker, but I imagine we'll do small hikes around the valley that don't require a pack. I'm looking forward to some beautiful mountain scenery and a relaxing weekend with Dh, and no chores or distractions.
-
MrsM, I meant to comment earlier how much I love your garden, beautiful!!!!
-
I haven't visited this thread in so long, and I love all of the posts! Sandilee, have a wonderful time in Yosemite. I've always wanted to stay at the Ahwahnee too, but they're always booked. It's a special place. Enjoy all that beauty!
-
Divine MrsM,
I love Downton Abbey. I started watching while I was going through chemo and I just loved that hour to get totally lost in the characters, the costumes and scenery. Enjoy! I also want to say what a beautiful garden you have created!
-
Mrs. M,
Your garden is lovely. Those climbing roses! Gorgeous.
My gardening, such as it is, has been delayed because of my hip. I always make a water garden or two in big containers. The plants are expensive, but so exotic---palms, papyrus. Just got around to putting potbound hibiscus from the store into bigger pots on our patio. It took forever as I'm still not 100% and my ankles and feet swell up with all the up and down stairs and bending, but I was grimly determined. My sweaty efforts have paid off in happier plants with bounteous, beautiful blooms. Hummingbirds visited our hibiscus regularly last year. I hope they return!

Caryn, I too, lost my passion for Downton. I do miss it though, some of it's characters were delicious! I've gotten hooked on "Game of Thrones" with my 16 year old son. It's quite gruesome but not unbearable and the storytelling is amazing! It's an added bonus that my son and I can chatter about it for hours! Just he and I! 💕
I had twenty-something people here this weekend for a Family Reunion. It was grand! Lots of love & laughter. I found that if I didn't sweat the small stuff AND let my family do the "heavy lifting" then I wasn't exhausted. Being a control freak hasn't been compatible with Stage IV for me. It has taken me years to simply let go, and I'm still working on it, but it certainly makes life much less stressful! Anyway, I'm still floating on the laughter that filled the house for days. This is a really good thing!

Vadre - Glad to hear that your family reunion went well! I understand the being a control freak and being stageIV incompatability aspect, lol.
Sandilee - How was Yosemite?
-
IntotheWoods & Sandilee, I can't wait to hear and see pics of your fabulous trips! IntotheWoods, I'm so proud of your decision to get out there and go for it! That takes such strength. So glad for you!
Happy Trails!

I've been on R&R since my daughter's wedding in May. Just enjoying hanging around home with weekend visits from grandchildren. A friend from my junior high school days (gads, known each other for 50 years) has been here for a few days and we have talked non-stop. No chemo til next Wednesday so have enjoyed the two weeks off! A beach weekend planned in the middle of July and then off to florida in August (yes, August) to visit my mom. The plan is to take her around to some "assisted living" communities to let her see that there are options. Will throw in some visits with other family so I will have a little fun!! Enjoy reading about what you all are doing. Vadre, sounds like a lovely reunion. The wedding will have to suffice for ours this year! Went to Yosemite many, many years ago. Beautiful area of our country. Montana is on my bucket list so we may plan a trip there in September. That will leave North Dakota as the only state I haven't visited. Anyone know any reason why I SHOULD visit North Dakota?? LOL! Enjoy summertime, everyone, and post pictures!!
