Hello ----- anyone out there? Hope this finds all of you doing well and enjoying spring. Well at least it's a nice spring day today in NC but suppose to turn cold again tomorrow. The pollen is crazy, all the cars have a green tint to them. We are doing well. DH is feeling better these days and plans to start playing golf again next month. Grandson graduates in June, where does the time go? He is going to go to community college until he decides what he would really like to do with himself. Me I'm still working and enjoying everyday.
I am so happy that for the most part all of us have moved on with our lives, but I confess I miss opening the website and there are no posts. Ronnie Kay I hope you are doing well, and just to darn busy to post. Patty, I know this is your busy time with bridal shows and plus your baby is graduating too. BarbAnne, you just stay too busy. How are DD and DH getting along? VickiLynn I miss you and your stories! And to the rest of my sisters who haven't posted for awhile, hope you are well!
Take care dear sisters! Thoughts and prayers are with you!
Jane

Oh Jane I think the same thing, I logged on the last two weekends and was like welp I guess everyone is busy, which is good, but we do miss the stories.

Glad you and DH are doing well and glad he is feeling better. DD and DH are getting along pretty phenomenal theses days, I'm knocking on wood...
I seem to be healthy and busy. Hope you all are well.

Good Morning!!! Love to all my Sisters from hardly sunny Long Beach, Calif! Actually, yesterday was nice, but got here Tues, promptly got a fever & cough (it'd been on its way for a couple days) & figured sunshine would cure me. It's been cold & windy. First time in 6 yrs of coming it's not perfect so I shouldn't complain! Fun to listen to Josie reading-smart Kindergartner. Our son turns 40 on the 24th-omg-talk about time flying! Baby Margaux is almost 6 months & so adorable...a little Island girl...she's such a pretty, chubby girl. She's giggling, chatting & getting up on all 4s-strong little thing. Hank & Hud keep me busy-baseball, swim lessons, preschool...I can't stand to miss a thing...which is why I'm sick for the 3rd time in 3 months. Jane, sorry you got the flu 😢. Prob was a lighter due to shot. They swabbed my nose first time sick to check for flu-swear they touched my brain-worst.pain.ever! No flu-virus. Have bought Kotex for the first time in years cause I cough so hard I dribble!!!!
Ok now...DH is going to start golfing??? That's a HUGE yahoo!!! Oh Jane...the fact he's on board if he needs a pacemaker is great! Grandson graduating...just so lucky to watch those kiddos grow up (and be so close...physically & emotionally). Good plan for JC...cost of education, at least in WA, is so high! I didn't realize NC had snow...I really think Seattle got lucky...until our mudslide, about 2 hours north of us. Very tough recovery for bodies. Ugh...weather can really dampen the spirits...come on summer!
BarbAnne...sounds like life is pretty good...savor it 😃. I LOVE that you're too helpful...I was that person too. I just don't get NOT being helpful. Just remember to take care of you...and I'll start chanting for new jobs to open up!!!!
Oh Lord, Patty! It doesn't sound like the cops broke up the party...which it seems would've meant a pickup from city hall! They're just trying to keep up w/justin Beiber-ugh! It makes me nauseaus that WA has legalized weed (my kids roll their eyes when I say pot). Worse yet...my SIL from St Lucia is Rastafarian, which means it's in his "culture" so it's suddenly become not hidden, which makes the family so uncomfy, especially with the baby. I just wish people making $ on selling drugs to destroy minds would take a pay cut and get a real job! So...off my soapbox!!! I can't imagine what that mom was thinking! Real housewife of Encinitas 😃. Hope business is blossoming!!!!
Vickilynn...I agree...we're missing the narrative of life in the mountains, by the lake...wherever you may be. Just hoping grandkids being close is filling lots if moments & Mr. O'Reilly's keeping you entertained! How's Don doing????
My liver enzymes are still normal, tumor markers are lower than ever & blood is handling this regimen just fine. So, I asked onc for her TRUE feelings about a chemo break. She was very serious & said she really doesn't want me to go off-but it's my decision. She said she's had patients who wanted a break & she allowed it since tests were good, but she said it WILL come back, and when you start chemo again, your body resists it, so it's harder on the body & less successful in treating the disease. I was bummed. This definitely is slowing me down..and I look sallow & tired, but I am alive & creating important memories...so I guess I have to continue w/what's working. My onc is known for keeping stage 4s alive...just wish it wasn't what it is.
I pray for my SOS family...and think back to nearly 5 years ago...it was in the stars we'd be together. May God keep us together for another 5, and another, and another......
-
Oh Ronnie- you are such a brave, sweet and funny soul. I agree with your doctor, and I know it sucks, Sometimes it is better to stay ahead of stuff with the meds than to take a break and risk a set back of any kind. I always keep you in my thoughts an prayers. I am glad your doctor is getting good results and is known for doing so. Love and hugs to you for much more memories and for what its worth i prayer, because prayer can do anything, that you feel some extra energy.
Love and hugs

... and here we are 2,974 posts later...
And... I actually have internet access for the next 2 weeks!!!
A lot has been happening - here's the brief of it:
DH is doing better. We think the concussion of Jan 2013 (slipped on ice - ended up in ER) aggravated the symptoms of his MS. It took awhile, but he is doing so much better physically and mentally!
Which leads me to why we have internet access! DH has improved so much that we are in Coffee Creek again where Don is filling the pulpit for the month of April!
Which leads me to the fact they want us to move back here and will be voting on that possibility in the next couple weeks!
We attended the annual chili feed/auction fundraiser for the Coffee Creek volunteer fire dept last night. Along with chili they were serving wine with the chili and that caused the bidding to really go crazy. One man makes blackberry jam each year to sell and this year he sold 3 of the jars for $100 each! A dinner for 6 at a local winery sold for $1100! It's a very generous community that know the value of our local volunteer firefighters and EMTs.
Even though we have a drought in Calif., Coffee Creek is running loud and strong across the street and little Treasure Creek that runs through the church property is crystal clear and flowing well. Summer will be high-risk fire as the snow pack is less than 8% of normal!
Mr. O'Riley has found a new home --- unfortunately he had made a very bad choice to nip at our grandson. Not a good thing! I loved my dog, but grandsons... they absolutely take priority! But I've thoroughly enjoyed our Hoopa landlady's 2 big dogs and 3 cats that decided our deck by our trailer had just the right amount of sunshine for lazing in. The dogs greet us when we return, keep the bear at bay, love the snacks we give them, and even accompany me on short walks! The cats are happy with a neck rub or two and maybe a saucer of milk. No wonder they love our deck!
DH is so glad we're back here... but I told him I'm waiting for the votes before I unpack my teapots.
I'll try not to write a book here - I was just so happy to read all your posts... hoping more will check in and contribute.
much love, Vicki

Have a Blessed Easter!
-
Hope you all had a beautiful Easter! We had 6 month Margaux at mass...1 hr, 45 min & she was perfect! Lots going on w/choir, incense, altar servers, etc! She was enthralled...and adorable. Lots of prayers asking for a lifetime of watching her grow up!
Oh Vicki...I won't get too excited...ok, maybe I am...but hoping the vote goes your way! So good to hear Don's better & looking forward to ministering again! Mr. O should've know you can't mess with grandkids! Little M has a kitty & she pulls it's hair & snuggles it...all the while it purrs. Just hope it doesn't get mad one of these times...knocking on wood.
Think I'm about over this pesky cold...thank you, Lord.
I just want to say again...I love you all so much. Sometimes (often) I get a bit scared thinking about the future, how I want so much to live....as we all do, given that something tried to rob us of our time on earth. Thank God for the Easter message of hope! Wishing you sunny skies & sending hugs to all!
-
Oh Dear Jane....I just opened BING (I hate it but love seeing what Justin Bieber is up to these days!) and saw a tornado touched down in North Carolina...NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!! Stay Safe!
Where are you all...no fair, you can't decide to take sabbatical just when I got back!!!! Off to a bike ride. My week off and I'm feeling good since we finally did something fun and had dinner out with friends. My colds have taken most of the "sparkly" personality out of me...LOL!!!!
-
Oh Vicki- I am happy that things are looking up and you all are seeing a promise of light, let us know as soon as the votes are in.
Ronnie its the incense, makes babies and children behave like you wouldn't believe.
Hope you are ok Jane and the Tornado didn't cause too much damage.I am terrible for watching the news, I find it all so depressing and one day they claim coffee gives cancer and the next it saves you from it. So I do not watch the news.
Hope you all had a nice Easter. Mine was pretty quiet other than a trip to urgent care for a weird cold. But it was all nice just the same.
Hugs sisters spring is sorta arriving in Michigan

Wow it has been such a long time since I posted. I have remained NED since we began this journey in 9/09. About 1.5 years ago I was diagnosed with melanoma. Right where the radiation therapy was given under my armpit. I went through a year of treatment for the melanoma and continue to have no evidence of this disease as well.
I continue to fight the good fight. Just had a biopsy of my right breast because of calcification and it was benign! I am still hanging in there. My family is well (my daughter is now a sophomore in college) and my hubby and I are empty nesters. I hope all is well. I know I am late, but I am so sorry to hear that we lost Pamelajo. I hate cancer!!!!
I sure hope all you ladies are doing well. I still keep in touch with Holly and she is doing well.
Anita
-
Anita - good to hear from you. I did not know we lost Pamelajo, though I had my suspicions. Glad to hear of your good test results!
Ronnie - You're in my prayers. A bike ride? Good for you! Love the spring! Keep writing us even when we're sloooooooow to answer!
Barbara - Thanks for your faithfulness in posting --- even when the rest of us (me) flake out!
Jane - Missing you and hoping you're safe from tornadoes!
Patty - Spring Weddings? Busy? Is this the year your son graduates?
And anyone else who happens to pop by: 5 years ago about this time, I discovered a lump in my breast while showering. I waited to go to a dr. because I had no insurance and I believed what the internet told me - "If you have pain, it's not breast cancer." But it was a very aggressive breast cancer. Thankfully, through a special funding for BC exams for those without insurance, my treatments were covered completely. The onc. told me and my husband that because of the type and aggressiveness, that my chances of survival for 5 years were slim...
HOWEVER, I am still here and others are not, and I don't have any answers. This I do know, that I am grateful to all of you sisters who journeyed together with me, whether for a short-time or long-haul. Yes, I COULD have made it without you --- but I believe we were brought together for a purpose --- to encourage, to uphold, to pray for, to question it all --- together.
Thank you, for holding my hand and lifting my heart. Thank you for sharing your joys and your sorrows.
Thank you for your friendship and love that will continue to grow through the years and in spite of the miles!
much love,
Vicki
-
Thank you, Vickilynn! It has been a 5 years that I would never have imagined when I too found the lump when showering. I'd had my mammo 10 months earlier...and as we all know now...my cells were/are aggressive buggers. I am glad I didn't have to walk this walk alone...yes, the loves of my life supported me...but the sisters in the trenches with me were/are my lifeline as well.
I am sad about Pamelajo...thanks Scooby, glad you have sent the beast packing again. I hate this disease.
Take care, sisters...you are cherished.
-
Everlasting Love to my SOS Sisters on this Mother's Day 2014! I think of you every day & wish you joy!
-
Dear SOSisters..... wow, take a month off and everyone starts posting again, well almost everyone, still a few missing. I am so glad everyone is doing well. Do we know for sure that something happened to Pamelajo? Scobby Do, it was great to hear from you!
DH is doing much better, no pacemaker needed at this time. DD and I went to Charleston for a few days and left the kids with DH. I think they had a really good time with mom and grandma gone! DD and I spent 2 nights - there is so much to see and do. So much history, I wish I really had made an to be a better student when it came to American History.
We are headed to the beach for a few days but I promise to start posting more often!
Take care dear sisters. Thoughts and prayers are with you.
Jane
-
Oh you lucky girl, Jane!!!! When DH worked for Customs, I used to travel with him quite a bit & loved so much of the eastern US. One of our summer reunions was in Kitty Hawk...OMG...warm ocean water. Unheard of in the Pacific...although you have more healthy bugs!!!!
So glad you got got Mommy-Daughter time & that Grandpa felt good enough to care for the kids ( I know they probably just need someone to check curfew violations!).
As for our Pamelajo...I wrote to the Moderators to ask if there was a way to find out about sisters who had been missing for a lengthy time & they said no, not unless someone had posted an update...family, etc. many stage 4 gals are on fb with each other so obits are frequently published. My family will have my password....for many years from now. I do believe Pam is gone from us...as a few stage 4 sites said to pray for Pam as she was our earthly home...things said made me think it was her. On the stage 4 boards there are such posts of wonderful news...people NED or stable for long periods of time, so joyful with life...sometimes with some sidetracks... and there are frequent posts of sisters faced with hospice & posting their last words. Sorry to sound like a downer...I find strength, hope, peace & dignity in so many posts. We all have our time on earth...I pray that I make the most of that time being joyful & trying not to be a butt, which I am a lot, and gearing my actions towards eternal life in heaven...that makes me happy! I love you all!!!!
-
Hello SOSisters....... well my best news in forever, DH is golfing again! Yes, he is feeling that much better, which makes me feel better. DH, DD and grandkids all piled in the car and we went to Atlantic Beach for a few days. It was really enjoyable to get away with family and just have a good time. No work, no school, just enjoying each other.
RonnieKay - I'm sad to think Pamela Jo is no longer with us. Even though she hadn't posted in awhile I kept hoping she was just too busy for us. I loved her posts, she could make me laugh out loud at her craziness and at that time in our lives we needed all the laughs we could get. I think she had a hard life but she was so courageous.
I'm glad you are spending you time being joyful and not being a butt (lol). I find that I don't sweat the small stuff anymore and try very hard to just enjoy everyday like it might be the last.
For all my other sisters - hope you are doing well. Would love to see some more posts next time I log on.
Love you guys!
Jane
-
Woohoo Sister!!!! So happy you got time away for R & R...and DH golfing is awesome!!!
We went to the farm town for a long Memorial weekend & had lots of family, friend and cemetery time. OMG...Hudson had a cape on & underwear & ran up & down the hillside. Needless to say, they are quite comfortable in the place of rest
. Mollie was afraid people might think it's inappropriate but I think it's comforting! We played baseball, rode bikes to the park, had water gun fights, planted the garden...baby went with us too & loved it.I can't find my list of birthdays...does someone have one? I think there was a May birthday.
Love to all!
-
Hello SOSisters...... well if it weren't for bad luck I'd have no luck at all (wasn't that a song). So a couple of weeks ago was unloading groceries. 2 liter bottle of coke landed on my big toe, tore off toenail (or most of it anyway). Had to go to ER, they removed my toenail, had to have 9 stiches, and my toe wouldn't quit bleeding. I spent 3 different days in the ER before they got my foot to stop. Then because it started swelling I went to a podiatrist. Turns out in addition to the ugliest looking big toe in the history of the universe, it's also broken! So I'm hobbling around like a 90 year old and wondering if my toenail will ever grow back in!
Grandson is now a high school graduate. He doesn't know what he wants to do, is applying for all types of jobs. Will start community college in Sept.
How is everyone? I wish everyone would send their birthdays again. I do think there was a May birthday but I don't know where my list is either!
Ronnie Kay, sounds like you had a great Memorial Day weekend. We had a great time at the beach. We are going back in August, rented a house for 5 days. Can't wait, hope I'll be able to dip my ugly toe in the water by then!
Hope all of you are well and having a great summer. Take care. Thoughts and prayers are with you.
Jane
-
JANE: OUCH! Our son just broke his toe last week, too! Missed a step and hit a wall! Very painful!
MAY Birthday! Me! I turned 62 (!) on May 14. I think Patty's birthday might be in May also.
We are home in Coffee Creek and are so glad to be here : )
Calif. drought is really affecting everyone here as we are near a BIG houseboat-full lake that is only at 50% capacity! The ramp nearest us (8 miles south) had to be closed. It's also scary when we hear the thunder rolling here and see the firefighters running down our road (of course, they're running to get in shape, but still...). Our shared well here had to be checked this weekend. We're buying bottled water anyway for drinking, might have to buy extra for showers!
Glad you're going to the beach again, Jane. So good to have a family gathering, Ronnie. I sure do miss my grandkids in Kentucky!
Love you all!
-
Don't know why I can't make paragraphs! oh well.
-
Just got back from another trip to the farmtown..getting it ready for 7/4 party & logged on to see news!!! HAPPY BIRTHDAY, SWEET VICKILYNN!!! I thought so...and Patty earlier May? ok, I'm 60 on July 2nd...and Jane...yours is around the corner too! Barb??? We need dates, girls...for bdays, that is...I definitely don't need a DATE!!!!
OMG, Jane!!! After probably probing & poking that poor toe, more than once, they find out it's broken...ouch is right!!! I broke my little toe & the dr said it was dislocated (sticking sideways) so when he tried to put it back "in" and I screamed, he said, "oops, it's broken-sorry!" Awful pain...and that's the pinky toe! Big toe...ugh!!!! I so hope you got a disabled pass for your car! Stitches & bleeding-Good Gawd! You need to go cold turkey...off the soda...or buy cans (or that might be worse..hurts just thinking about it!). Anyhoo...no pedicures for a while. Sending healing vibes!!! Thank goodness this happened after your vacation...small consolation
. And you'll be good as new in August (knocking on my wood nightstand!). Congrats to Grandson!!! Woohoo!!! Big step (no walking like a 90 year old! You're the saucey Gma!) for all of you!Vicki...from what we read, the droughts are just horrible. Of course, we love the fact that when we visit CA, it's always warm & sunny...but you all pay the price..and food prices are showing it too. Will pray for that to turn around soon! Thunder here means rain..can imagine the fear of fire
. You have so many activities going, I can't remember what Coffee Creek holds for you. Is this where they were going to vote as to whether Don would have a preaching job? Other than having no water (and watching firefighters run...I wouldn't mind that!), you sound good! Hope you had a nice bday celebration...maybe w/some of the kidlets? I walked the Race for the Cure on June 1st...5 year anniversary of first diagnosis. Meg and Margaux (in the stroller) talked me into it and it was a wonderful time. Meg had baby dressed in pink & brought balloons & signs. When it ended, we drove to Mollie's 35th birthday party at a beautiful park. Meg's bday is tomorrow...3rd anniversary of 2nd diagnosis...kinda sad it worked out that way, but hey...we're celebrating every day! They're throwing me a 60th party...I was worried at first, not wanting it to feel like a "last chance to celebrate"....but I'm feeling really good & think & pray I'll be around a long time...to celebrate with all of you...my dear Sisters, who I dearly love! Ok...happy time...take care & sending XOXOs.
-
Hey All-
Things are same ole same ole here. Nothing much to report. DD and DH still fight. Job still sucks. But my health remains strong.
I suspect the same thing about Pamela, which is very sad.
Happy Belated Birthday Vickilyn!
Ronnie Kay you are so funny! Cold turkey off the soda. Glad you are doing well and your humor comes through loud and clear.
Jane- Ouch, hope you are on the mend, enjoying your travels, and DH is golfing-golfing.
Anita (Scooby Doo) Thanks for checking in, sorry about the melanoma, I didn't think of it happening at the radiation point. Glad you are well.
Take care sisters, will post when I have something interesting to talk about.

-
Barb...everything about you is interesting...it still just amazes me that DD & DH go at it. How I would've loved if my DH had taken my place as the bad guy
. Good Lord...2 more school shootings...one on our city & now Oregon. Makes me so sad
Scooby...missed that you'd visited. Good to hear NED....and sorry you had to deal with melanoma. I don't remember what name Holly went by. There were so many of us that soldiered together. Thank God for this place then...and now!
Patty...how are you? Thinking of graduation for DS!
-
Hello SOSisters.... I hope this finds all of you doing well and staying cool. It is so hot and humid here. We are all doing well. Grandson graduated and is on to the rest of his life. I'm keeping my fingers crossed that he will find something to do in life that he truly loves. DH is getting in some golfing, not as much as before, but I'm happy he is going. He's walking almost everyday early in the am, so he gets some exercise. I'm still hobbling about, shoes are a problem, I now have 4 new pairs, none are comfortable! Dr. said it will be a good 3 to 4 months before my toe is healed, and 6-9 months before I might get a toenail!
VickiLynn - Happy Belated Birthday! I'm am so bad about remembering and seem to be getting worse all the time. I'm am so happy that you and Don are settled into your new/old home. I imagine it would be very scary to be close to the fires. How is DH doing?
ScobyDo - sorry to hear about the melanoma but glad that you are NED! So good to hear from you, hope you will check in more often.
BarbAnne - hang in there sister! My DD is now 39 and she and her dad still have their moments. I finally decided that it's because they are so much alike. What is DD doing? Do you have vacation plans?
RonnieKay - I like the sounds of your farmtown. It sounds like a great place to visit and especially with all the family. How are you feeling? You must be doing pretty well to participate in the walk and I'm sure those precious babies enjoyed it. I miss my grandkids being little. They are both great kids but teenagers!
Patty - where are you? We are missing you, hope you will find time to check in.
And to all our other sisters, please post. We like knowing you are okay!
Thoughts and prayers are with you!
Jane
-
Hi everybody! Happy 5 year anniversary to us all!
Congrats to your Grandson, Jane. DS also graduated last week and is already bored to tears. I'd encourage him to get a job but since he doesn't have his license yet I'd end up driving him to and fro. Not something I relish. He'll be starting community college in August. If he doesn't die of boredom first...
I'm so glad you are feeling well and keeping busy, Ronnie. With a family as big as yours it seems there is never a dull moment.
Happy Birthday, Vickie. My 62nd was May 30th so we are practically twins. Stay safe from the fires. We had a bunch of them in San Diego a couple weeks ago and the hillsides look like a tinder box. Perhaps if this El Nino actually develops we'll get some much needed rain in California!
Sorry to hear that DD and DS are still rubbing each other the wrong way, Barb. But hooray for healthy!
Pamela Jo was a hoot! I'm sorry to hear she is gone. A good friend of mine from college just lost a friend to breast cancer at 53. Hateful disease, this cancer.
I'm not sure what possessed me but we adopted a puppy a couple months ago. I've never had a dog so the whole puppy thing is...shall we say...interesting. So much energy! So many things to train him on! But he gets me up bright and early in the morning and makes sure I get a nice walk in everyday so there are benefits. I think.
Patty
-
Hi Patty! Sitting at chemo & saw you logged on! Not that I was excited or anything!!! Anyhoo...glad to hear you're doing well & DS is bored...that's your job as an 18 yr old!
My chemo brain worked...I remembered you being a May girl! Happy Birthday a few weeks late!!! We've had 3 bday parties since 6/1..2 DDs & DH. Next Sat, a party for my 60th. Bday isn't til 7/2 but who wants to party 2 days before the big blast!
A puppy...you'll need it for when/if DS decides to move out some day! Nothing better than something to cuddle with

How's your Mom? Yep...this crap stinks but we're all still here & that's a blessing, big time!!! Love to ya!
-
OH! so good to hear from everybody (well - not quite everybody, but you know what I mean!)...
Have a great birthday bash, Ronnie. Enjoy another couple weeks of being under 60. You know, once you hit 60 there's no turning back! "Will you still need me, will you still feed me, when I'm 64?" ... is getting closer all the time!
Patty - Happy Bday to you, too! Wow! I didn't remember that your son graduated this year. A whole new life awaits... puppy's are a monumental change, especially never having had a dog. I would not go back to potty training for anything! Well... except for maybe a cute sheltie or a perky lab or a...
Barb - hope you're hanging in there through the unrest in your home. That can zap all your energy out of you! Maybe they'll both grow up soon?!
Jane - wish I could come sit on the beach with you. I've never wiggled my toes in the Atlantic! It must be strange with the waves coming in from the wrong direction!!! We watch sunsets over the ocean - not sunrises!
Right now, there's a slight breeze and the cottonwood trees make it look like it's snowing outside! There's bats in the belfry, foxes under the steps, and does in the backyard. God's in His heaven and all's right with the world. (at least for the next 30 seconds)
Vicki
-
Ha Vicki...can imagine it all!!! Our cottonwoods are almost gone...THANK GOD! Everyone is allergic to the awful stuff...and I mean everyone!!! I was on Zyrtec 2 weeks straight and liver enzymes took a leap. Trying to not take it & see the scores dive!
I just have to tell you last year, for Tom's 64...the kids gave all the goodies from "when I'm 64!" It was a scream! Like...will you still feed me-a spoon...etc! We've always played, "You say it's your birthday"...since our kids were babes. Now the grandkids wait for it! Ahhhh...things I never want to miss!
And...I did swim in the Atlantic....Jane's back yard (not literally, but Kitty Hawk, NC). It's WARM! definitely not Pacific temp! But they have huge flies
XOXOXOXO
-
Hello SOSisters..... wow, almost everyone checked in. So good to see. Vicki Lynne and Patty - Happy belated birthday to you!!!!! Yes Ronnie Kay and I are close, I cannot believe I'm going to be 62. Where has the time gone?
Vicki Lynne - cracked up when I read about the waves going in the wrong direction. Shared with DH who also cracked up. I wish you could come join us in August when we spend a week on the intercoastal waterway. It's going to be hot but we'll have a good time anyway. I'm so ready to go and yet it's only June. Your part of the world sounds beautiful. What is the temp there? We are in the 90's and sweltering!
Patty - so how does it feel to have DS out of high school? Grandson is going for job interview tomorrow to be a busboy at one of the local steak houses. So it's not exactly he's chosen career path (or course I don't think he has one yet). However, it will pay gas and car insurance so that's what is ok about it. He just got his driver's license a few weeks ago. I cannot believe how much car insurance is for a young male! There is nothing cuter than a puppy until they potty where they shouldn't, whine when you want to sleep and chew on your shoes. Having said all that we have two and they keep us young!
RonnieKay - I envy you your large family and all the gatherings and birthdays you have - family is so important. How are you feeling? How's the chemo treating you? What are you doing for your birthday? Something fun I hope. I would love to go to Key West but DH seems to be happier closer to home.
BarbAnne - hope things have settled down. Are you off for the summer?
Take care sisters and keep cool. Thoughts and prayers are with you!
Jane
-
I finally unpacked the teapots... unfortunately, one was cracked, but then DH has always thought I had a cracked pot!
Speaking of DH - gallstone - a big one. He's being referred to a surgeon and he is in pain. Once again. Mentally and emotionally, he is doing so much better. He has a purpose and a plan and that makes all the difference!
Today is supposed to be 100 here. As opposed to East Coast, it is very dry heat, which is easier to cope with, but makes the firewatch all the more important. No mowing or weed eating after 10 a.m. for the rest of the summer. When it's 100 here at 2300', it's close to 110 in the valleys, so we're staying home and running the A/C!
Do you all have 4th of July plans? We're going to be at some friends' home, celebrating with their family... a big BBQ. Their home is in the woods and overlooks Trinity Lake (which is now more like Trinity pond at 50% capacity!). It's a great place to relax and watch the sunsets. These friends always have great food and great conversation. Looking forward to it.
I'm having an ultrasound on Monday on my leg. Since mid-chemo I've had pains in my leg that wake me up at night... now there's swollen ankles and more pain. They're checking for damaged veins (maybe a bad valve). Also had a blood test that has me a bit concerned. My lymphocytes were HI and I don't like the sound of that. I have a dr's visit re: that on Tuesday. Hopefully, it's just some infection somewhere. Trying not to speculate, but --- you all know how that goes. 5 years since dx and cancer's the first thing I think of. OK... re-focusing...
I'm anxious to hear about Patty's puppy! We don't even know his name!
I do love life in the mountains. I can hear the creek and the birds and the chainsaws (but only until 10!).
Keep on, keeping on. V
