If I could cut and paste....well, I'll type.... I have a few message for the RW idjuts on Bergdahl.
So transparent...you take your orders from Drudge and en masse spout out stuff you barely know about except for the propaganda you choose to believe (or not and spew it anyway). If it gives Obama any credit at all, the algorithm is to somehow make it a bad thing.
Here is what I would cut and paste:
In comes McChrystal: "We don't leave soldiers behind."
NYT: Not So Fast On "Bergdahl Deaths"
Flashback: Republicans Urged White House To Do "All It Can To Rescue Bergdahl.' Numerous examples amongst GOP of "they were for it before they were against it." Even GOP Congressmen were untweeting their weekend thoughts and prayers for Bergdahl and his family once they got orders from Fox News.
GOP Strategists Arranged Interviews Attacking Bergdahl****
Fox Host Bashes Father
Ex-Bush Official: George W. Would Have Made The Same Deal
**** A little history on Cody Full and Josh Korder - the soldiers leading the campaign against Bergdahl:
Display ceaseless venom against Obama (hmm, sounds familiar)
Supported Cliven Bundy (sounds familiar)
Cody Full scrubbed his social media site of use of the word "N***er"
Josh Korder is trying to raise money off this story and has a website asking for money to support him while "he exposes the truth."
He might be a deadbeat dad - or as the mother of his children says - "a deserter of his children." This latter is not yet verified.
As one soldier was quoted, this is not about Bergdahl, this is about Obama.
Just had to get this out. I'm so sick of their algorithm.
My county didn't sucede from California, but we did make Last Word last night - lol. Embarrassingly, 46.5 % did vote for it.
-
Kam , I'm with you on all the brainless noise from the loser's corner. They seem QUITE ready to sacrifice anyone if it allows being able to mock achievements made by our President. He has so much presence compared to their futile attempts to be destructive. A bunch of impotent imbeciles. Look at all they have tried and they are do nothing and know nothing people....getting worse as they go.

Did anyone watch the video link I posted of Bergdahl's father - I don't think there would be many questions after watching, listening to it. He makes more sense than all the blathering of media jerks, comments by blogheads, really. It's on the last page.
-
CNN did a brief segment on Bowe Bergdahl's early years last night. By all accounts, he was a loving, out-going, extremely curious kid who very much cared about his fellow human beings. It's no wonder that he became disillusioned by his time in Afghanistan. Many people suspect --and with good reason -- that the troop-mates who are bad-mouthing him now are terribly afraid of what he's going to say about them when he returns. What the GOP and RW media outlets are doing is truly despicable. And what's sadder is that they don't care.
-
Sunflowers, I watched your Guardian video link. It was very powerful and moving. I have no respect for those who wanted Bergdahl's release before Obama got it but now are decrying that release. In their effort to be anti-Obama they have managed to make themselves inhumane to counter Obama's humanity.
C4C, I agree that the troop-mates do seem to be afraid of what might be revealed, but they also seem to be major Obama-haters so that may have more to do with their positions. It will be interesting to see the story play out.

I remembered reading some things on Bowe Bergdahl before but couldn't remember where or when. Then I went to Daily Kos and saw a diary about just what I was looking for. It contains a link to the original Rolling Stone article. Now that my memory has been refreshed it does seem that Bergdahl witnessed atrocities. Here's a link to the DK piece:
Bowe Bergdahl: "We don't even care..."
Edited to add: there are two Rolling Stone links in that piece. The last one, labeled "Here" is the one I was referring to; but the other link also looks to be informing.

It is certainly an exercise in right-wing whoring to watch the abrupt about-face on Bowe Bergdahl. They make shit up, just like they do about the President. I actually saw on troll on FB justify his hatred of Bergdahl by saying, "The Taliban said he went with them willingly." REALLY?!? They hate the black man in the White House so much that they will believe the Taliban. I guess their indoctrination by Fux Noose prepared them to believe any smack talk against President Obama.
The RWNJs who are screaming about the deal for Bergdahl are un-American, anti-military, soulless, amoral filth who would rather let an American soldier DIE than give President Obama any credit at all. Think about that for a minute - think about what kind of person would say out loud that they would let an American soldier die in enemy hands. And most of them call themselves "Christians."
The fact of the matter is that Bergdahl's repatriation has nothing to do with whether he deserted or not. We don't leave soldiers behind. If, as I have seen some FB trolls say, it was too costly to retrieve him, then they should be coming out against the search for remains in Vietnam and Korea. I would love for them to say that at Rolling Thunder, the Memorial Day event in Washington DC which brings thousands of bikers to commemorate war dead, wounded and missing.
The facts of Bergdahl's disappearance from his base will be investigated by the Army. If it is determined that he deserted, he will be dealt with according to the UCMJ. I am quite sure that the penalties for desertion in the UCMJ do not include being left to die in enemy hands.
The fever-pitch of hatred and calls for Bergdahl's death (as well as the lies and trash spread about his family, especially his father) make me honestly embarrassed to share a nationality with such vicious, rabid weasels.
-
No one with an IQ over 80 would believe anything the idjuts say Libby! Unfortunately, from my readings there are many who share that under 80 IQ. Their comments prove it. I can't believe how much they HATE their President. They should be ashamed! I'm not too crazy about our PM but would never spew what they do. I have some pride for my Country and at the moment our PM represents our Country so I must respect him. I don't know, but maybe I was raised that way, you know, a liberal?
-
rr - I read & remember that Rolling Stone article too. A US Army truck hits, or runs over an Afghan little girl, even if it was an accident, to make fun and laugh about it after it happened - can't imagine how someone with what seems to be the sensitivity of Bowe Bergdahl could live with that.
Noting also, one of the most serious problems in trying to FIND him, seems to be that because he TRIED TO ESCAPE so many times, the Taliban kept moving him around.
History Lesson - does everyone remember it was the USA supporting the then mujahideen "rebels" when the Soviets invaded Afghanistan and it was THOSE USA armed, trained individiuals who became the Taliban when the Soviets left, defeated, from Afghanistan. Alas, it was the Soviet invasion which was the reason the USA gave for boycotting the Olympics then, so Bowe's cycling father never got to the Olympics.
I can't WAIT to hear more from this family when Bowe gets home to Idaho.
-
I love you women. Such intelligence, wisdom and a sense of humanity. Thank you for posting that excerpt from the RR article RiverRat. I had a sense Bowe and his family were special the first time I saw his father on television. Sensitive human beings who think deeply about life and what is moral.
Once again, the GOP has taken a stand, and sometimes against their own first instincts - though only a few of those. The rest follow the drumbeat of Drudge, Fox News and a GOP run by their hatred of our POTUS. They can't choose their heros well - as we've seen....Cliven Bundy, etc.., it only makes sense they would not be able to choose their villains either.

What RL said!!!

Breaking News - Rep Paul Ryan has had three concussions - three traumatic brain injuries. How did Karl Rove allow him to run for Veep?
No links - sorry. BCO won't allow it on a Mac.

Blue, I vote both!

Sadly, they still believe their own propaganda.
Pretty cool to find out papa Bergdahl was an Olympian caliber cyclist. That's impressive. I've been to Hayley, Idaho a few times. It's about 10 miles south of Sun Valley, Idaho and is a mecca for those that love the outdoors (like me). Oh, sorry to use the word "mecca;" might be another excuse for the idjuts to call papa Bergdahl a Muslim - lol.
The last laugh will be had by those who haven't rushed to judgement. Young Bergdahl was probably reacting to the horrors of what he saw and experienced within his unit. Those who disparage him are probably worried by what he will have to say. An idealist caught in the maelstrom of bad company.
-
I've heard that some people survive the horrors and inhumanity of war by losing their own humanity. Sounds as though there were those in Bergdahl's unit for whom that happened. Given his last emails to his dad, he wasn't prepared for it to happen to him.

The Dow closed today at a record high of 16,836. Thanks for wrecking the economy, Obama. /snark

Listening to the Teahadists lose their collective shit everytime Obama does his job used to be mildly entertaining. Now it's just pathetic.
As this latest faux-outrage reaches a fever pitch, I have one wish - that is, that they would simply go ahead and try to impeach Obama and see how that goes (it did wonders for Clinton's popularity in the 90's).
Otherwise,, I wish they would just STFU.
-
Donna - totally agree. I doubt they want to impeach him for that very reason, but if they win the Senate, they may be pressured in to it by their sheep.
Reading more about young Bergdahl in the Hailey Mountain Express. Preferred bicycles to automobiles and regularly rode his bike to work, 15 to 20 miles, each way, to Sun Valley. An accomplished outdoorsman and sharpshooter. Neighbors described him as quiet, intelligent and kind. Father said, as devout Calvinists, the parents instructed Bowe and his sister 6 hours a day. Father said Bowe was enticed into joining the Army with the promise that he would be going overseas to help Afhghan villagers rebuild their lives and learn to defend themselves.
Sounds like Bowe's moral compass was well developed by the time he reached Afghanistan. It would probably be hard for him to swallow the shallowness with which some of his unit treated the Afghan people.
-
Fux Noose( thank you RL!) and their ilk. Take a smattering of information, build a MEME on your own point of view, say it enuf ( eg. Cheney, Rice, the WMD, "mushroom cloud" and it becomes your truth just because you kept saying it.
Keep hoping someone will at least step back an iota to learn how mujahideen becameTaliban with USA support!
Kam - source of truth about Ryan & concussions, from HRC, when she fell & had one, Ryan spoke with her, and told her he had THREE one of them VERY VERY SERIOUS....ah, well...
Mass Media now picking up Bowe kept trying to escape, so Taliban kept moving him, making it impossible to find him.
Homage to Catch 22. Remember Yosarrian, if you're sane enough not to want to die and kill anyone in the process, then you're sane enough to get in the plane & drop those bombs.
Garden growing...

President Obama ( I LOVE TO WRITE THOSE WORDS) press conference in Brussels, via the WashPost
BRUSSELS — Defending the way he announced the exchange of imprisoned Sgt. Bowe Bergdahl for five Taliban fighters, President Obama said Thursday that he could not give up the chance to save one more life in the waning days of the Afghanistan war.
“I think it was important for people to understand that this is not some abstraction,” Obama said, explaining why Bergdahl’s release was announced at a Rose Garden ceremony last weekend. “This is not a political football. You have a couple of parents whose kid volunteered to fight in a distant land who they hadn’t seen in five years and weren’t sure whether they’d ever see again.”
Speaking at a press conference here, Obama added, “I make absolutely no apologies for making sure that we get back a young man to his parents and that the American people understand that this is somebody’s child and that we don’t condition whether or not we make the effort to try to get them back.” -
Hi Ladies,
It really warmed up today. Have the A/C going, although something is wrong with it and it doesn't work very well. Can't get it looked at for another week or two.
Donna ... it's great to see you. I was desperately searching for the "like" button on your post. I'm with you, the Tea Party enthusiasts just aren't "fun" anymore. Like you, I just want to scream STFU.
Sunnyflowers ... hope you enjoyed the gardening. I actually bought a good-sized tomato plant today. I haven't had any luck growing anything the last couple of years, but I've got a spot next to my pergola that might be good for the tomato plant. Keeping my fingers crossed that it thrives. Nothing beats the taste of a tomato just picked from the garden.
hugs,
Bren

Bren, here's the BCO version of that "Like" button you were looking for, found among the emoticons with every post:

donna - ditto what bren said
bren - get tomato plant fertilizer - put pot in sun = yummy!

I think some should look in the mirror while listening to these lyrics and realize that WE are not strange....THEY ARE!
It's all about paranoia and the green monster, as opposed to the green fairy!

And if you can't figure it out, well then...............

When is this going to end!!! I really don't know how you can live in such a country:
