100 Days of Gratitude
Comments

2nd, I'll be thinking of you. Hope everything goes well!
Today I am grateful for a beautiful sunny day that is supposed to reach 80 degrees. We are due for some warmer weather.
-
5/20- grateful to be going to see Steven Marley tonight. Ya mon!
Red- beautiful photo from the wedding, thanks for sharing.
Pink Carn- Velveteen Rabbit is an excellent story. People may be unformed, unevolved, etc. But I also think many also just lack empathy in our society. That being said, it is good to not let others feelings about our situation define us. It is to take our experience and become better people.

May 20th,
Today I am grateful for my DD Lisa who is celebrating her birthday.

Good luck on your interviews, 2nd!
I am grateful that I was able to leave the windows open all night and enjoy the spring air & wake up to the singing of the birds.
-
I'm grateful for a nice clean house.
-
Thanks for all the good wishes! Really like this place (from the first impression). Feeling like I did well, but you never know. At least this prepares me for Thursday's interview.
Day 140 (5/20): Grateful for a glimmer of hope there really a job out there for me. It was a group interview (I don't care for those), several didn't show, so just 3 of us candidates interviewed by 3 staff members. Stayed after to speak with one of the interviewers. The interview went well but (as usual) I'm not sure if I'm the fit they're looking for. Since this was so close to my parents, drove over to see them after the interview and have plans to spend the night (eating in the dining hall, so nothing for me to do)
-
I am grateful for my morning coffee.
-
Well said Jazz. We do have a great deal of self centerness in our culture now.

May 21, day 121 I think
Today I am grateful for a lovely spring morning. Birds singing, blue skies and sunshine.
Jazzy and Pink, I am reminded of a quote I read... What other people think of me is none of my business. People seem to have the ability to make us feel small or unworthy just by voicing their opinion. Because we let them.
Maddy, good luck with your interview today. {{{squeeze}}}

Grateful that I got my flowers planted today, every year I forget how much work that is!
-
5/21- grateful for one more day of work and then a four day weekend.
I hope everyone has something nice planned for the weekend, even if you are still going through treatment right now.
Simple pleasures are the best.
-
thank you everyone!
Day 141 (5/21): Grateful the weather is cooler, especially at night; that there is a wonderful NY-style pizza place on the way home from Mom and Dad; and there wasn't too big a mess waiting for me at home. Grateful that my dad treats my mom like she's his whole life - which she is. Grateful I got to spend some time observing mom in the memory care setting (all she did was sit) and got to tell Dad in a nice way she needs mental stimulation and I'm hoping he heard me. Will have to wait and see.

I like to doodle and draw so I started an "I love" journal. I always have some colored pencils with me and I draw a small picture of things I either remember or find that I really love. Some pictures I have: dry autumn leaves warm in the sunshine, the earthy scent of my horse, fresh cut hay, the deep blue color in an ice crevasse, finding the seven sisters constellation on a dark night...you get the idea! I just pull my journal out and flip through it when I'm too punked to do anything.

Today I am grateful for HikingandHorses showing us another way to express our gratitude. I can't draw a stick man that anyone would recognize, so obviously I won't be starting an 'I love' journal. For those of you who can though, it's a lovely idea.
Maddy, how did your interview go?
Onco, Presidential exercise -lol. Was it an apple tree?
Ruth, we've just started planting. We waited for frost free nights.
Jazzy, simple pleasures are the best. Although I like the really complex and big ones too. Have I told anyone about Italy????!!!!! Lol. Lmao. Hahaha only the whole world so far. I think they know in Italy by now.
-
Thanks, Red. One down, one in a couple hours. Details later.
Onco - "Presidential exercise" - took me a second
Day 142 (5/22): Grateful that even though insurance is still all f'ed up and I can't get thru to anyone, I managed to get some Rx's ordered (only the really critical ones for now as a trial run) with help from the best pharmacy tech around! Grateful I had BCO's word games to play while I was on hold (gave up after close to an hour).
-
I am grateful to all my family and friends who've provided us with tasty home cooked meals.
-
hikingandhorses...what a great idea! I bet it's fun to look back through it from time to time.
Today I'm grateful to see my sister for the first time in 3 years. She'll be visiting until Tuesday and I look forward to spending time with her.
-
I am grateful that I was able to help out a friend today.(I subbed for a teacher friend whose daughter is graduating and had run out of time to get things done. It was the last day of school & it was a group of kids I knew pretty well from last year, so it was really fun.) Win/win!
-
5/23- grateful for the nice soaking rain that came last night!
-
May 23
Today I am grateful for I didn't get caught being 8 mins late for work. Darned snooze button got a workout this morning. Also grateful for the massage I will be getting in 10 mins.
-
Red, oh my, 8 minutes late, you made up the time. So, do I understand, massage at work?
-
No Maddy, I got one on my lunch hour. It was nice. I needed it. Do you have a feel for how the interview went yesterday?
-
Well. Red, it's like this.......
I have no idea. It was a team interview (3 interviewers, we started with 4 candidates, 2 totally different positions, then 2 arrived very late). When I think I've done well, I find out I'm "over-qualified". I did make a connection with the Director (his background was also teaching children with disabilities, so hopefully that got me points). I was taking notes as we went along on my pre-printed notes sheet I use. Don't know what they thought when I could not only list the core values but told them I knew an acronym by which to remember them (which I learned at Tuesday's interview, but didn't tell them as such exactly), also knew mission statement and company belief. At least I showed I was interested in the company! One (very) young candidate, who was very late, when asked what he was looking for, actually said he was basically looking for a job to impress his parents. Wish you could have seen the priceless look on the interviewers' faces!
And did I add, I got a speeding ticket (my one and only ever moving violation) on the way?? Should have known, it's the city's speed trap, just off the freeway, usually don't go that way, wasn't thinking yesterday. Gotta laugh. Actually surprised myself that I could stay focused on the interview.
---
Day 143 (5/23): I THINK I GOT INSURANCE STRAIGHTENED OUT! After several hours today and a 3-way conference call, I got our on-line accounts set up (with access granted to me for DH and DD), and even printed temp cards! So, today was a huge success for me.
On a very sad note, (found out last night) because of major screw-ups at the university DD wants to attend regarding her transfer and nursing school application, she has opted to delay graduation and transfer. So, no graduation ceremony tonight. I am proud she didn't rush to make a hasty decision of trying to transfer elsewhere when this is where she wants to go. But she is very upset with this all (even though she thinks she hide it)
(Sorry this is so long. LOTS happening this week - and this is only part of it. Was a catharsis, of sorts, to type this all out. Thank you)
-
What a week! You NEED to vent!
Grateful that I was able to have lunch with an old friend (I was in the town where she lives on business today). She is a nurse & helped me gather information when I was first diagnosed with BC. When she was diagnosed several years later, I was able to help her out.....so we have a mutual admiration/gratitude society between the two of us.
-
I'm grateful for a very busy day today that ended with an big dinner with extended family.
-
2nd time- fingers crossed on the possibility of new work. I loved the story about what the youngster said about why he wanted the job!
-
We had about 4 inches of rain last night & hail......grateful that all the flowers I just spent 2 days planting have seemed to have survived the deluge
-
Good morning lovely ladies. It is a sunny day and getting warm too here in the Great White North. If that phrase is a bit confusing to some of you, then you clearly aren't as old as I am. It's from Saturday Night Live - and it was a Canadian parody team called Bob and Doug McKenzie, eh? lol
May 24
Today I am grateful for a suggestion from one of my Living Fit ladies to turn my clock around backwards. I have been having trouble sleeping and doing the "if I fall back asleep right now, I will get 2.5 hours more sleep. If i fall back asleep right now, I will get 1.75 hours more sleep....." until finally I fall back asleep and my alarm goes off. She said there had been studies done and that if there was a clock in the room that sleepless people could see, it set their brains into thinking mode. When they couldn't see a clock they fell back to sleep quicker. So I've been trying it the last couple days and I think it is working. Yay!
Wow Maddy, you have had a very busy week! Hope you get the job you want, whichever one it is. 4 candidates, 2 late - looks to me like you have a 50/50 shot at it. lol. Sorry for all the confusion about your DD's university. I thought all that stuff was settled weeks ago. She must be terribly disappointed.
Ruth, I like your 'mutual admiration society of two'.
Have a wonderful weekend everyone. Happy Memorial Day weekend to my friends in the States.
