SAS where did you go?   We are all bright enough to make our own determinations regarding what you write. I for one appreciate your efforts to inform and educate, always with citation.

    I thank you.

    Hugs Ginger

Ginger thanks appreciate it. The Mods perceived it as spamming. They didn't evaluate that the threads were either my own--i.e. I spammed myself---interesting. The remaining eleven threads were threads I frequently or infrequently post.

So today I said I'd had basal cell cancer on my face, then had a squamous cancer cut out of my arm. Then I had bc.

He says" oh, you're a survivor"?

No fool, you're talking to my ghost!

    Arrrrrggggghhhh

Spookie- good to hear from you. Did you have more skin cancer removed?

I don't care for that word "survivor". It reminds me too much of the reality tv series. We are so much more than that.

no more skin or anywhere else cancer. Yea!

It was just the way he said it, so disbelieving.

    spookie, love the ghost comment!

Ya, I'm not too fond of that term survivor either.  Heck I survived the 70's, emotional breakdowns and a ton of other things that should have tossed me off this planet, but I don't feel I like I should toot my horn on those items either.  BC is just another effed up bump along the way and hopefully the quote that which does not kill us makes us stronger applies!  Of course if that's the case, then most of us can kick some big time ass these days!

Why are people so stupid and inconsiderate? Went to the store and a grown ass woman was dragging her grown ass daughter around and the daughter was coughing on everyone. Yep, you guessed it. DD and I are spending Memorial Day weekend sick. GRRRRRRRRRRR!  And I went to the store to buy elderberry. How's that for ironic? Anyone else have suggestions for boosting immunity?

Also, we're trying to bottle feed 4 abandoned kittens who are about 3-5 weeks old. Not having a lot of luck. Has anyone had success at this?

Sorry to hear you guys got sick :-(.  On the other hand... good for you for trying to help the little kittens.  Both my kitties came to me around 7 weeks so I never did the bottle thing.  I did look it up and found this website that seemed very informative.  Hopefully you can get them to eat.  Of course the worst case is that you bring them to an adoption shelter that does this all the time.  Both my guys were from traveling adoption charities that would come to Pet Smart each week.  If the website doesn't help, maybe Pet Smart can.  I even think they have a shelve in the cat section with those supplies.  Good luck... meow!

Rohanna, If there's a shelter near you, call to see if they have trained people for bottle babies. I just finished the training at my shelter - haven't had a case yet. It's pretty tricky. The link above is good info. Another info source is http://www.maddiesfund.org/maddies_institute/webcasts/orphaned_kittens.html. The second video is all the hands on information. They need to be held a certain way, kept a certain temperature, fed KMR (kitten milk replacer), and under a certain age they need to be stimulated to eliminate. Also google kitten ages to get a better idea of how old they are. At 5 weeks they may be ready for really soft food mixed with KMR. Three week old kittens are bottle only, so getting a better idea of age may help. If there's a Petco nearby, they may know of places who take bottle babies.

You're doing it right. Sometimes they put a really cuddly stuffed animal in so they have something to cuddle against besides each other. That looks like a 3 week old to me. Watch to see them wiggle their ears while they nurse.

You're right, Wren,  those little ears wiggle like crazy! They have a stuffed rabbit to snuggle up to and I keep a hot pad under their bedding. Changing the hot pad and feeding them every two hours takes me back to the days when I was a young mother. They make the cutest sounds while nursing. This has made me smile more than anything in the last 3 years. There are three tortoise shells and one black and white. I've decided to keep them.

His Royal Siamese Highness respectfully refuses to acknowledge that any other cats exist in the universe. He totally ignores them. We figured out what happened to Momma Kitty. She was attacked and killed by a gray fox. Seems no one in the neighborhood thought to warn me that one has been prowling and attacking pets. One lady lost all her chickens. I have no idea how to persuade Mr. Fox to depart for other habitats. Guess I'll be Googling between feedings.

    Lawn ornaments? ;-)

My daughter and I took one of our kitties for his check up yesterday and thought it would be fun to try a harness and leash on him.  Obviously we have been watching too many episodes of My Cat From Hell.  That guy makes it look fun and easy.  Well, fun it was, easy it wasn't.  Fortunately, we were just hanging in the exam room and tried the thing instead of buying it, trying it and then returning it,

DD said she bought a harness for her cat, so she could be trained for walks. This indoor cat has never worn a collar. Good luck with a walk!

Our shelter has a photo of a cat with a collar and leash lying flat on the ground. The caption "Civil disobedience cat will not be moved."

The neighborhood Nazis are at it again. Now, apparently, there's some guy in our town who has appointed himself the Flag Sheriff. If you leave your flag out overnight or in the rain or break any other of his "flag rules" he comes onto your property and takes your flag. WTF? He's just looking to get charged with trespassing, burglary and theft if he touches anything around me! Some people need to take the high and mighty flag pole out of their A$$ and get a life! If he's so patriotic, why isn't he doing volunteer work at the VA hospital? *&$@#!!!!!!!!!
