I was diagnosed on 2/3/06 at age 49 - turned 50 in May 06. Double mastectomy on 3/1 (stage 3A), finished TAC chemo, to start rads next week, going on Arimidex - hysterectomy down the road and need to finish recon. Hope to be done by the end of 2006.

This is a very interesting thread. I am amazed at how many women have been dx'd at a young age! I am 37 and was dx'd last month. Felt a lump high up on my left chest and went to my primary who sent me to a general surgeon. Docs thought it was a benign lipoma - so there was not even a mammogram involved! Now that I know it is breast cancer, I have switched to a breast surgeon and we are working on determining the extent of the disease (had a breast MRI and bone scan last week, now scheduled for ultrasound guided biopsy on additional suspicious areas next week). I hope to know soon what we are dealing with here so that we can get a plan in place and get going! The waiting is killing me!

I was diagnosed the day after Thanksgiving in 2005 at the age of 42.
-
I was diagnosed at the age of 35 in July 2005. It is unbelievable how many young women are diagnosed. I live in a small town and for the past three years, 1 young person a year has been diagnosed with breast cancer. I hope the pattern doesn't continue this year.
-
41 with a brand new baby and was misdiagnosed... 6 months later (at 42) I lied my way into a surgeons office and refused to leave till she scheduled a biopsy. July of 2005 got the oops we missed it speach. 1 year later have ALL new doctors and I'm almost in maintainance.

Diagnosed at age 43 on 06-16-06 at 2:40 PM Chicago, Illinois time. (Not that I was looking at the clock on my car).
I fought to have someone take me seriously when I said I felt "something." All of the mammograms were negative. Mammograms suck. I was right.
I just had 2.4 cm invasive tumor removed (together with postive nodes) on 07-25-06.
I am tired of always having to be my own advocate in the health care system. It is exhausting as I am 2 weeks out from chemo.

42 years old, diagnosed through routine mamography.
Strong family history but negative for the BRCA mutation. Because of my age, a family history that the geneticist still thought was of concern, disinclination for radiation and a desire to feel good about my body (and that included symmetry) I underwent a double mastectomy with expanders on August 1st. I'm triple positive, negative node and awaiting final staging.
Life is good. -
routine mammo....2 stereotactic biopsies (both negative)Dr. pushed for excision. Diagnosed 4/9/06 at 44 yrs. old DCIS W/ invasive ductal carcinoma margins weren't clean. Had a 2nd excision again margins weren't clean, but sentinal node neg. Stagell intermediate grade. 6 courses of chemo (done 5, one to go) and I believe there's a mastectomy in my future.

I am 52 and was Dx on 6-22-06. Had a lumpectomy and SNB. Stage IIA, low grade, node negative, er+. Just had my second CMF chemo out of 8, will follow with 33 rads and Arimidex. Saw a breast surgeon from Sept. 2004 to Nov 2005 three times with a cyst on the skin that turned into an indentation. He said it was a sebecaous cyst. Mammos were neg. Went to a plastic surgeon to get a cosmetic fix and she insisted on a biposy. It was IDC all along.
-
i was 46. however, my first scare was at 21. have had biopsies since i was 21 and have had 4 since my cancer diagnosis in 2002.
-
43, diagnosed June 06. Stage 2 ILC plus DCIS, possibly with IDC too. 1 + node, pr/er+, her2neu-. Had bilateral mast and reconstruction in July. Getting expanded now, will start chemo soon. So I'm a recent addition to the club.
-
I was 38yo in 1995 at the time of first diagnosis: IDC, ER/PR +. Had left quadrantectomy, followed by CMF x 6, then 7 weeks of rad. Just 2 months ago, at age 49, I was diagnosed again, same breast, and had a mastectomy. Again I have IDC, ER/PR +, Her 2/neu -. I am awaiting OncoDx test results to help make decisions re chemo, and I am contemplating BRCA genetic testing as well. I am a two-timer hoping not to be a three-timer!

I was 53 when dxd 11/05 stage 4 er/pr neg her2 pos. Mets to spine & liver. Had 3 A/C with taxotere & zometa - now weekly herceptin/taxotere with monthly zometa...find out 08/17 if 'working'....
-
I was 29. (now 30).
No family history of breast cancer.
IDC, Stage 1 (T1b), er/pr+, her2-.
Had lumpectomy and snb. Clean margins, no lymph nodes involved. Chemo was recommended - then radiation and tamoxifen. I'm scheduled for a 2nd opinion and waiting for oncotype dx results. -
April 15, 1997 I was 27. My recurrence was August 16, 2004 and I was 34. Now I still here at 36.
-
Diagnosed at 39, no 42. 1st mammo. Calcifications. 5 tumors that did not show on mammo. No history.

Dx 8-19-05 age 60 with IDC; Stage II, Grade II, ER pos. Had lumpectomy; 4 days later re-excision of margins and sentinel node biopsy. Nodes clear; still didn't get clean margins. No more breast tissue to remove; mastectomy debated. Drs. Felt chemo and radiation sufficient. BC had invaded blood vessesls. In weak moments I question did we handle this correctly. Like everyone, moving forward. I too am surprised at all the young women. I heard of a 17 year old being diagnosed shortly after I was. Blessings to all.

I am 36, just recently diagnosed w/DCIS. Undergoing Tram flap procedure on the 29th. I am convinced it's in the food we eat. Hormones and so forth. I could get on a roll here about conspiracy theories of mine, but I won't. I do know this much however...it doesn't matter how much $ is raised for any type cancer, there will NEVER be a cure. Not a known cure, anyway. (Not in the U.S. unfortunately). Okay, I'll stop! We're all in this together and together we'll get through it, right?!
-
I want to apologize for being so negative! I've had a rough day today. I hope you ladies will forgive me. I've been doing pretty good for the most part, until today! I know I'll have good days and bad days. That's just part it, I guess!!!
-
was 29 when diagnosed (1 month before 30 birthday)
-
I am 47 years old,dx on 7/24/06. I had two prior mamos because I could feel the lump. Nothing showed up until now.Stage11/tumor 3cm and 3 out of 16 nodes positive. Age 60. Stage II, Grade II, Node negative. ER+. Had AC x4 dose dense and 36 rads. I have really had a very difficult time with fatigue. Not sure if it my age at diagnosis, stopping estrogen, major female repair surgery 9 months prior to BC dx OR all of the above. I have a small business that requires me to stand. Finished all in March 06.
-
I am 37. IDC grade 3, 1.6mm, node negative, ER-, PR-, HER2-, FEC100 x 18 week followed by radiotherapy 6 weeks.
-
I think that i am probably the oldest that tells age. I was 74 when dx with BC. The other unique aspect besides being the oldest that posted, is that I am a man. I am one of the unique males that has come down with this rotten disease. I have had a mastectomy, 24 weeks of chemo and 6 weeks of rads.
-
I just turned 45 and was dx one month later.
