Recently, I had to / chose to cancel a small life Insurnce policy I had.  I wanted to buy a new one.  I was denied because I'm not 10 years out from my diagnosis.  I'm kind of surprised.  I thought 5 year mark would cut it, apparently not.  I have some options with accidental death benefits but before I settle, I was curious if anyone else has come across this issue.  Also food for thought for others out there.  I wish I hadn't cancelled my small policy.  I had started that after my diagnosis, but NO medical questions were ever asked.  Everything seemed a little shady with that previous policy though

LittleFlower, I worked in insurance for a long time. The non-medically underwritten policies aren't exactly "shady" but the premiums are very high for the amount of coverage provided.

what was the reason they gave you for cancelling?
