savedby,
This thread is about access to the picture forum. You will get more responses if you post under a thread dealing with implant sizing.

I am wondering how to get to picture forum
-
saved by,
PLEASE read the very first post on this thread. It will let you know the steps you need to take to gain access to the picture forum. It is not part of bco but is privately maintained by two bco members.

Hi Lilah, I am quite new to all of this. Diagnosed in January 2014, had surgery February 3, 2014 for BMX with TEs placed. I'm just starting fills, had my 2nd one this past Tuesday. Now have 200cc. Been battling nerve pain mostly. This site has been extremely helpful and has kept me going!! Expect when I've been discouraged! I am trying to figure out the sizing for myself but not sure I get it so have emailed to the thread on that And posted on the pain site. Let me know if you need anything else

simplelife2: Go here:
https://community.breastcancer.org/member/86945/profile and click on the 'Send this member a private message' link. That's the way to get a message to Lilah right away. She and nowheregirl are the only ones who can grant access to the picture forum which is private and totally separate from BCO. Good luck to you!

Just want to put in a plug for the picture forum......Once I was on it, it gave me a very realistic picture of this "journey" of reconstruction that we are all on....the good, the bad, the ugly, and the FINAL results. It's a process. I was in awe of the women who posted...so brave! But, then I realized how much it helped me, and decided I would post pictures, too. I am so glad I did, but it's a strange thing...posting pictures when you have no idea if your own results will turn out well! Just had my exchange surgery on Thursday, and posted pictures as soon as the bandages came off on Friday. Not pretty, but maybe....just maybe....that is a good thing? Maybe I will end up with great results and the pictures will be a huge help to someone else who is struggling. One can hope!!
-
We're all so appreciative of the volunteer work that nowheregirl and Lilah put in to the Reconstruction Picture Forum. Please read the first (undeleted) post on the first page of this thread, to better understand how their Forum works, and the guidelines for being given access. Here's the direct link to that post:

simplelife2, you might also want to check out Breast Implant Sizing 101, it has helped many of us navigate the TE issues

Thanks all for the kind words and for the help to new posters!

I would like to ask for access. I had a BMX, 3 years ago with one step implant reconstruction and I am scheduled for a revision in two weeks .
-
please, please read the very first post on this thread to find out the process for picture forum access.
-
I WOULD LIKE TO HAVE ACCESS PLEASE I KNOW THE PS ONLY SHOWS HIS BEST WORK AND I WANT TO KNOW REALITY THANKS EVELYN -
nevinsdb, please read about gaining access to the Reconstruction Picture Forum in the post linked below. It explains how the forum (which is not part of Breastcancer.org) works, and the requirements for gaining access:
-
Hello,I am undergoing a double mastectomy in one month. I will have tissue expanders placed and I am just beginning the research what kind of implants would be most suitable. I would like to request access to the picture forum so that I can get an idea of the experiences others have had in getting implants.
thanks

tbee - Go here:
http://community.breastcancer.org/forum/44/topic/805466?page=1#post_3572090 and read the very first post. (Not the one that nowheregirl accidentally deleted.) That will outline the rules and guidelines for the picture forum. Then you can PM noweheregirl or Lilah as they are the only two people who can grant you access. That site is not a part of BCO and is privately maintained. Good luck to you!

Just a reminder to newbies who would like access to the Picture Forum....
This is a site that is totally separate from BCO. A BCO member (nowwheregirl) started it years ago as a place for women with breast cancer, who were undergoing treatment and reconstruction could post their pictures and their private thoughts about the changes their bodies were going through.
Please note: this is NOT a Photo Gallery, like you might find on a Breast Augmentation Plastic Surgeon's website. These are real women with breast cancer, with real challenges, who first must conquer their fears of posting pictures of their breasts online.
They tell their real stories, often in heartbreaking detail, as they persevere through the changes along the way. They post their happiness and joy as slowly their bodies return to a place that gives them peace of mind. We are there to cheer them on.
When you request access to the Picture Forum, the "gatekeepers" (Lilah and nowheregirl) will be looking at the number of posts you have made here on BCO, and the way that you have supported other members here. If you have only posted once, and never responded to another member's post, chances are you may need to wait until you have become more established here.
This is not a matter of trying to be exclusive... the reason is that all of us on the Picture Forum are intimately aware of each others' stories... and have supported each other from the beginning. We walk the path along with each woman who joins.
Each new member is expected - in time, when she is comfortable - to share her story, and her pictures.
It is very disheartening to those of us on the Picture Forum when new members join, scan through the pictures they want to see, never make a comment, then disappear. It's almost like a violation of sorts. This is why Lilah and nowheregirl are so diligent in their efforts to keep the Picture Forum a safe, encouraging place.
Now - if you are new here, please don't be discouraged. Just keep posting, asking questions, and encouraging other members. We are all in this together - and we always welcome new members!!!

Well said, Blessings2011, well said!
-
Blessings, I believe you have just spoken for every woman who has photos posted on the picture forum. Thank you!!!
-
Thank you, AZ and Tina..... xoxoxo
-
Blessings, how eloquent! Thank you for expressing my sentiments in a way far better than I could have.

2ndtimesround,
I'm sorry for your difficulties. I do think that blessings was simply trying to explain how those who maintain the picture forum, which is not a part of bco, evaluate how they grant access and why they do that. If that's the criteria they use to evaluate right to access, then so be it.It is a privately maintained forum.
-
Oh, 2TA, come over here so I can pinch you, Girlfriend!!!
If you read my post, you'll see I was pretty explicit about each woman being expected to contribute - IN TIME, WHEN SHE IS COMFORTABLE.
The forum is filled with many stories of ladies who lurked, reading only, for months and months, unable to bring themselves to the point of sharing something so personal to an unknown audience.
The truth? It takes as long as it takes. And if information is what you are looking for, take what you need, give what you can. Mostly, I think members are just looking for some acknowledgement that it has taken courage and determination to even post one picture. A simple "thanks" will do....
I know you've been frustrated in navigating the system, and I know you're not alone. I would try PMing nowheregirl and letting her know exactly what's happening. That woman is a computer genius! (SO not like me....)
Every story is important. Every story is meaningful and from the heart. And I KNOW that your story would help others. We all learn from each other. And you DO belong there, Darlin'!
I am now quietly hanging my head in shame at the thought of thinking I somehow "put you in your place..." Say it ain't so!!!! Forgive me, please!!!! xoxoxoxoxoxo
p.s. I thought about putting this in a PM to you, but in the event that others felt the same way, wanted the opportunity to explain on the forum.
-
Blessings -- thank you for your beautiful statement about our Picture Forum. In truth, everyone is expected and required to participate in the form of comment and support (which is why we only accept people who have demonstrated their willingness to offer support through posts here on BCO). No one is required to post their own pictures; though, of course, most want to.
-
I would like access to the picture forum, and would also like to share some of my own photos. I had a very, very successful bi-lateral mastectomy with NSS, TEs and then silicone implants. I've had my ups & downs since my original surgery (8/21/12): Two implant replacements on one breast since then. The last was two weeks ago, due to a defective implant. His likely is THAT??? Not very. Anyway, I couldn't be doing better, or look better, at this point, only two weeks post-op. Please let me know if I may be granted access to both view & contribute to your picture forum.
Thank you!
Cyndi

Cyndi,
Go to page 1 of this thread. Read the very first post to understand how to request access. The picture forum is not part of bco, but is maintained separately and voluntarily by two of our very dedicated members. You also might want to remove your personal email address from your post as the moderators suggest not posting personal email addresses to protect our privacy.
-
Here's the direct link to the post that explains how the Reconstruction Picture Forum works, and how to request access:
-
Oh, my mistake. I thought requesting access to the picture forum was private. I don't have my personal email address listed publicly on this site. It is marked Private, I just didn't realize my request for access would be posting publicly. My bad.
I'll go back & read how to properly request access. Sorry about that! And thanks!

cyndi,
The threads are all public. Personal communications or requests for private sites, unconnected to bco, such as the picture forum, are done via private messaging (pm) which is on the left hand tool bar.

I was given access this past winter to the pic forum...i cant find my link to log back in and I really need to as I am having a recurrence and want to document my continuing journey. Could the moderator resend me the link?
