Rocky SUPERWOMAN-   YAY. That's a wonderful feeling. Doesn't happen often, but there is no other feeling quite like it :)

Ro, yes LOL, I know several people like that---hmm maybe it's me---yes it is me. Please, put the owl  on IT. Also, on the warm and fuzzy thread. It's a storage thread for anyone to put pics on, and links to whatever we don't want to loose as the pages pass.

    http://community.breastcancer.org/forum/102/topic/...

Someone wrote a description on how to do an avatar. I finally learned it. Only took a few years. I downloaded oodles of pics for avatars. The last few days I felt like Don Quixote----today I'm the MadHatter.

Jazzy, yes lots of crazy shit. let's have a tea party and discuss it........milk or cream?

Hi ladies- back from the hot springs weekend with one of my east coast BFFs. We had SUCH a great time, really what I needed on so many levels. I have been really fun deprived lately (I know most of you can relate!)

Rohanna- I am not sure if people think we will be more receptive. I think most people don't really think that much about others, unless they are family or close friends. I asked a male friend once why married men hit on women thinking they will accept there offer and he said "its a numbers game, they are just asking lots of women until one says yes." I think your texting friend (who I realized is not married) is just playing the numbers until some women says yes. And you my dear, deserve a lot better than that!

We all deserve to be around people who love us, care about our well being, etc. Everyone is just an acquaintance. I am getting so clear on that now!

Jazzy, it's so funny you say that about "playing the numbers." I explained that to my DD when she was about 16. She bought a pair of shoes and the salesman wrote his # on the back with "call me." Being the daughter of a suspicious woman, she looked him up on FB and found out her was in a 2 yr. relationship. I told her he was trying to trade up. :) She never called him. Actually my texting friend has been married about as long as I have. We've been friends since we were little sprouts. I figure he was trying to talk about his home problems. Go talk to Dr. Phil!

Which hot springs did you go to? We've been to the ones in Arkansas. They're awesome! Glad you had some you time.

Cheez from my day:  I'm in the restroom at MD Anderson before my CT scans and a woman in there says "so are you 6'2" or 6'3"?" WTH? I should have said "I'm here for cancer scans you weirdo.  What does it matter how tall I am?"

Then  one of the volunteers helping in the CT area mentioned that I am 'quite tall' and was shocked that I'm ONLY 5' 10".

Then the radiology guy had me scoot further down the table because "You're pretty tall". By this time I almost busted out laughing.

Yes, I am freakishly tall.  Thank you all for noticing AND commenting.

Maybe scans make me cranky or a mutant?  Or a cranky mutant!

Hi ladies- catching up after my time away and busy week so far.

The hot springs are in NM and called Ojo Caliente. They are very unique as they have different mineral contents in them, which is not common. Nice thing is they are not the stinky sulfur kind many of you may know in other locations. If you ever get out here, I encourage you to stop in there. One of our best kept secrets!

I have been to the hot springs in Arkansas too, as well as some in Colorado, Tuscany, Italy and even Israel along the Syrian border.

Phgraham- I guess everything is relative. I live in a place where a lot of people are short and I am 5 foot 7. People think I am a giant here.

Phgraham, I'll bet they think you're tall because you weigh less than many Texans and that makes you look taller. Or you stand up straight...or you're a cranky mutant. Your pick.

Spookie, I used to be 5'4". Now I'm 5'2" and I still feel average.

No, not most. But there are a lot of really large ones. Southern food and barbeque can do a number. I used to live in Houston, so I know. When I think of some of the things I used to eat, it's a wonder I wasn't even heavier.

I'm 5' tall and quite round. I tell everyone I'm the CONDENSED VERSION! If they don't like it, tough! Funny how people feel entitled to comment on the appearance of others. I was raised to believe if you can't say something nice, shut up. I try to give someone a compliment every day. I know how precious they are to me. Besides, if you're short, you always have enough leg room.

And besides, cranky mutants are some of my favorite people!

    Hello

I am new to posting in this section. Once in a different one. I would like to ask all of you a question. My Oncologist and my family Doc are in two different towns. I trust the out of town cancer center because it has been there longer and I feel they have more experience. Anyway I am One yr in remission and on Tomoxifen which is causing my liver enzymes to be elevated. I believe this is the cause for a rash that I am getting. My family doctor has made several comments about not wanting to include the Oncologist and surgeons from out of town in things he has treated me or procedures ( colonoscopy and once for a burn from a heat pad after a surgery. I was numb and couldn't feel the heat).

Is this normal? I can't seem to get answers from my Doctors about the rash. My Oncologist told me to ask the Pharmacist about my medications and my family Doctor acts like he doesn't know so I went to a Dermatologist and saw his Practitioner who gave me a diagnosis and a prescription for a cream( which makes three creams now) and said come back in 4 weeks and if not better we can do a biopsy. Went home and looked up her diagnoses and it doesn't match what I have.

I guess I am asking has any one had trouble with Doctors not working together. I really thought with all the treatments and never ending tests that they would want to keep up on your health and procedures so not to duplicate tests or why certain things are happening to your body.

Thank you for your input. This is the only place I can talk about this stuff. No one else wants to hear it.

It does seem a bit odd to me. This is why I belong to an HMO where they all work together. I don't know what state you live in, but in most states your medical record belongs to you. It's a good idea to get copies of lab tests, scans, reports, etc. and keep your own file. I can see where your PCP might think a heating pad burn is not significant, but a colonoscopy report could be some day. Asking a pharmacist is a good idea. They have computer programs and can check for interactions that might cause a rash. Our resident expert is sas-schatzi.

Socks- I have had a few problems with docs working together. When I started with my breast surgeon, I was told I would have a medical team that included a Rad Onc and Med Onc. Then she cancelled all the apts with the ones in town after I had after my surgery, and directed me to some out of state care and doctors to work with in AZ. I pushed to talk to the other doctors here to ensure I understood the reasons for the out of state radiation treatment and worked with my PCP to ensure I had the medical team I needed. I also saw the doctors in AZ, but it is the ones here who do the follow on. Usually the family doc is the one to help you the most as they know your overall health the best. My PCP worked with me to be sure I had the right medical team in the end.

Whenever I have films, ultrasounds, blood work, etc. I put all the docs to receive the results. It is a way to be sure they are kept in the loop on my care. You may have to keep the other docs up to date on things you have had going on and they can request results. Some doctors just work better together than some others.

I hope you can get the rash problem figured out.

Socks, Welcome! Drop by here anytime. We all understand and love you. You'll find a lot of help, comfort, information and even laughs here.

As to your Tomoxifen, if you don't get any answers, you might want to ask your onc. to put you on another AI. I'm on my 3rd one (Femara). The side effects are different for just about everyone. Hope this clears up for you soon. Sas is a good person to ask. She's usually on this thread or the Insomniac thread. She's awesome at research and I'm sure she'll help as soon as she sees your post.

As to your doctor not wanting to include your onc., that worries me. Maybe you need to have a talk with him and see what's behind it. Let him know you would prefer the two of them to cooperate in your health plans. It's a good idea to check with your onc. before you take a new med or have some other procedure. It's extremely important for him to know about your colonoscopy.  Congratulations on being one year out. My ReBirthday is the 19th of next month. A former neighbor of mine is in her 23rd year of remission after throat cancer. My mom is a 9 year BC survivor. There are no tougher chicks than BC chicks!

Sending you hugs and again, Welcome!

Thanks for the feed back. I now see that I am not alone in the every day events after BC. I actually thought I was imagining all of this stuff but it all seems to be common and I feel much better knowing that I have some place to come and talk about it. Thank you so much for your input and advice. The more I read the better I feel.

Wren, what a sweet thing to say. That really made me feel good, cuz .....well cuz that was really nice.

Socks, Helloo welcome here. I'm an old retired nurse. Please, Pm me your list of drugs, The diagnosis of what the derm PA said it was. We will set up a time to talk. It truly is easier. I ask allot of questions. Then answers lead to more questions. It's like doing a jigsaw puzzle.

In regards to your docs, highly unusual that docs don't like to talk to each other. Particularly, PCP's. They are taught in residency that they are the cog in the wheel. That they should be aware of all facets of your care. This is to assure that a person is looking at the total you.

Today we have specialists for every body system. Now in the big cities some docs specialize in only one body part. Not uncommon in orthopedic practices that there are docs that only do one joint. The first practice that I had contact with that did this had a doc for----shoulders, back, hips, knees, ankle&foot, hand&arm--this was 25 years ago. So, it's not a new concept.

One gal here went to MD Anderson, her port doc had only done ports for the last 20 some years. So, his experience was unquestioned for that skill.

Once a doc gets into a specialty, they rarely keep up with the other specialties. The knowledge explosion since the 60's, is just too much. PCP's actually have the hardest job of keeping current, b/c they have to keep up on all the systems.

So, in general, I would say your PCP doesn't see himself at the center of your care. That's concerning. Do you have a choice about getting a knew doc?

Hi folks, someone asked how to make a hyperlink. This is the way my windows on an hp works:

    1. Point cursor at URL/web address

    2. Left click til it turns blue----index finger working side

3 Then hit clrl-c, then I move cursor away and hit till it turns white

    4. Move to place you want to leave link. I usually make it the line below where I have ended typing.

    like here

    5. Hit clrl-v---it'll print the URL/web address.

6.This is the key that will make it hyperlink>>>put the cursor/ flashing bar at the end of the URL/web address, and hit enter. That should cause link to turn it blue. That enter is the KEY. if you don't do that, you have a url but it won't link/work.

"AH hah Watson I think I have done it"

I'm going to repost this a couple of places and see if it helps others. If you have a different system this may not work Let me know. Good Luck. Sassy

Been thinking------always sumpin eh? Thinking of a sister that still reads, but doesn't post much b/c she's too weak. She's in the stage 4 group, but we had worked on one of the threads together along time ago.One of those exciting threads like constipation, but it wasn't that one. I don't want to invade her privacy, so, I won't use her name.

Then I started thinking of the Warm & Fuzzy Owls Kitties and Funny Stuff thread.

At first, it was simply a place to keep things that made us happy that we didn't want to loose over time as the pages turn.

Now maybe something different. When our minds are so heavy, reading complex things can be a chore. But what we are posting on W&F's thread is light , fluffy, easy. They can cheer without having to work at the thought too much. Without having to try to keep track of too many words.

So, when you post something here or on one of your other threads, that's a picture, saying that we all get as BC 'ers. Please, post it there too. Keep it simple i.e. few words.

There are several serenity type threads like Foley's pictorial venues. I'm sure there are more that I'm not aware of.

If anyone thinks this has value, we could ask the others to do transporter links in the topic boxes that would make it even easier for those that need it.

Link to warm and fuzzy owls, kitten, dogs, goats, and other things thread.

Okay, here is what cheezed me off today. I am at a local spa getting my quarterly facial and waiting for the esthetician to come get me. There are two women there talking pretty loudy about this one woman's problems. She is an alchoholic, her husband is a slob, she is afraid he is going to hurt her, blah blah blah. Am I missing something here? We are in a spa, not a counseling center. I was relieved when the woman came to get me so I could get out of there. Bad vibes going on in that space.

Ok- I've been so f**d up during the last few years.  I don't know if cancer is to blame.  But can't seem to get it together either at work or at home.  Bills are past due for no reason.  Just can't seem to pay them.  Business not being taken care.  Think I've got gallbladder problems, can't get rid of any weight (is it "loose" or "lose", can't remember).  Behind on my taxes.  Haven't mopped the floor in I don't know when.  Just a mess.  Where do I start?

    ScaredStra,

Thanks for making me feel like it not just me....I quit the job at dx, ( or took a leave ) cannot remember to pay bills, only mop when I think someone is coming over. Hubby takes care of taxes, I actually lost 20 pounds during tx, but have just started to eat real food again. I made fried chicken last night, baby back ribs tonight.

So where to start? Slowly, except the bills, that's a bitch when ya have that $ 25 or 35 late fee...never want DH to see that...bad girl...
