Jackie .. I am so sorry to hear about your SIL.  I know how badly it must hurt to lose someone you love.  Was this your husband's sister?  I hope he's holding up okay.  Keeping your family in my prayers.

Gals .. It's still snowing here.  We got 4 inches last night and the damn stuff won't stop coming down.  Need to find my old work boots and start shoveling.  I have a UTI and an Rx is at the walmart pharmacy, but so far I can't get the car out of the driveway.  I hate being stuck here and not having any help.  I wish my truck was here instead of the little Honda.  I'm having a huge old pity party this morning.

    Gotta run,

hugs to all ... and sending comfort to Jackie and her family.

Hi Rosemary! I hope things are going well for you. You're probably just as sick of the snow as I am.

Jackie, thinking of you and your family.

Chickadee, sending all my best wishes out to you.

Jackie - so sorry to hear about your SIL.  Sending warm thoughts your way.

Chickadee - so very much hope you are feeling better.

I've been a little busy lately - so haven't been on much.  Doing taxes today, and found (why didn't I look sooner....????) that we were missing some important info, so have been on the phone with the bank all morning.  Sad I hate tax season.

So, the right wing seems to love Putin.  I think they should just move to Russia and see if they like it better.  I hope this Ukraine thing doesn't blow up into an all out war.  The US should (IMHO) stop being the police force of the world.  We just come across like a bully. I have never like bullies, and don't want to be one.  And (since I'm on a roll of giving my unasked for opinions....) if the right-wing states want to secede - let 'em.  I'm tired of all the theatrics.

On a personal note...  a good friend of mine is being sent to a gyn-oncologist to see if she has uterine cancer.  Send her some good vibes if possible.

In regards to my shoulder, my husband wants to talk to another bone doctor to see if the opinion is the same.  He also wants to know if removing the large bones spurs might not relieve the pain enough so that the shoulder replacement might not be required.  So we are pursuing that end.  Also, I've been doing some research on-line, and there is some thought of using stem cells to regenerate cartilage - of course, insurance doesn't cover any of that - so it's probably not in the cards, but I want to investigate it anyway.  If I can avoid surgery, I'd like to.  In the meantime, I'm going to go get a massage.

So, in my life of never a dull moment, DH was just diagnosed with Parkinson's.We're going by to pick up his prescriptions in a bit. Blue, any words of wisdom?

yorkie - hoping it's late onset, which progresses VERY VERY slowly...a friend has that, much different from what I think Blue has...

Speaking of Blue, ok, that RABBIT is the BEST.  Have already emailed to friends, still laughing at it myself.

gg- definitely second opinion, think DH is right about removing bone spurs, at least that's what's done when they're in other places on the body, especially the heel of foot.   Really hope there's a workaround to avoid major surgery for you.

GLORIOUS day  - in the 30's, honestly, it feels warm and spring like.

Is he going on levodopa/carbidopa?  For the first 5 years, it will be like nothing is wrong on this med.   Then the problems start.  If he is impulsive say no to Mirapex or Requip or he will gamble away the house.  Exercise, exercise, exercise.

    This forum is very good...

I survived.  Very scary pneumonia.  It was very unresponsive and I was watching the vital sign board like a hawk.

I'm home, bedridden,no middle body strength at all. The are setting up in home rehab and if I'm lucky a temp hospital bed before my husband hurts him self picking me up.

Now I have so many follow up appts, I can't keep track of them. Medicare rules and such too.

I'm still way too tired to post much but will try.

Chickadee - so glad to see you posting - we were all so worried.  Poor DH, but oh how romantic carrying you around!  Get some rest, we're still here watching over you.  Hugs, S.

Chick....wonderful to see you posting, but sorry that it has been such a rough interlude for you.  In home re-hab sounds great.  Having to go somewhere and do it you'd be too worn out.  The bed sounds wonderful for now as well.

I think lots of people here will relax now that you have checked in and will be extremely understanding if you don't post a whole lot.  You were VERY missed for sure, but part of it was just good old-fashioned worry.  So hooray you are home and hopefully being in your own surroundings will be soothing and comfortable and you will get back together soon.

Blue...my first great laugh over the 'violence' graphic.  Not too much to laugh at , but thanks....I needed it.

GG.....yes, the answer is Russia for the Putin lovers.  Vibes -- all kinds of them for your friend.  I'm weary of all this cancer.  Still hard to believe that until I was diagnosed, I barely knew anyone who had any form of cancer.  Sure can't say that now.  Diagnosed in 2007.  It seems to be every where I look.

Blue....I also love the cat picture.

    Jackie

((((Chicky))))! So happy to "see" you again!

Blue, he's on that med combo. Took his first dose tonight. His left leg has been shaking constantly for well over a year. His mother developed Parkinson's at about the same age and her leg, then legs, shook exactly the same way. Our GP told him a few months ago that it couldn't be Parkinson's because it started in his legs, not hands. Well, his mother's disease presented exactly the same way. Her hands only started shaking toward the end. She died at 91. The doc he saw today said it usually starts in the hands, but not always.

Anyway, that GP sent him on a wild goose chase to chiropractors, acupuncturists, PTs, spine surgeons, knee docs. Finally he got a referral to a pain center that gives epidurals. The pain doctor said he didn't think at that point an epidural would benefit him, and referred him to a neurologist. That's the guy we saw today who definitely believes it's Parkinsons. Doc said DH has every indicator except responding to the medicine. So he will take the med for a few weeks and if it decreases the symptoms, then the dx is firm.

As an aside when we went to the pain clinic for DHs issue, I told them about my herniated/slipped disc, which was causing me terrible leg pain. I got my epidural yesterday and feel about 80% better.

A Movement Disorder Specialist is the best neurologist for PD.  See if you can find one in your area.  If he responds to the ldopa it's a done deal.  A little tired tonight.  Will ttyl.

    Good Morning Gals,

So very happy to see a note from Chickadee.  We were all pretty scared.  Glad to hear she's at home, and hopefully will be able to recover faster out of the hospital.

Yorkie ... I am so sorry to hear of your DH's Parkinson diagnosis.  I think the kind Blue has is different from his.  It's a devastating blow to you both and wish so much this wasn't happening to your family.

The sun is shining ... and it's on the way to being 64 F today!  Nothing like a little sunshine to brighten your mood.  It's my mom's birthday today and we're meeting in Roanoke for dinner then catching the 8 p.m. show of "Hair" at the civic center.  I love musicals.  My favorite was Phantom of the Opera and I saw it twice.

I know this is way off topic ... but I love Adam Lambert ... and he's touring with Queen this summer.  I think the closest venue to me is in DC.  I wish I could see that show.

Hope everyone is able to enjoy the day,

    Bren

Chickadee, so good to see you popping in.  How scary that must of been.  I hope you weren't alone.   Of course not...we were all in your overnight bag.  We just know to be very very quiet so they don't throw us out when visiting hours are over!

Yorkie...so sorry to here about your dh.  Sometimes it's better to know the devil we're dealing with so you can get on and deal with it.

Yorkie - I think the one bren is referring to that maybe your DH has is called "adult onset" which isn't what Michael J. Fox has.  Don't knwo much about it, just remember a friend trying to explain it to me years ago, when her DH was diagnosed, and I was so locked in FEAR from the word, PD, I didn't hear all she said.  I do know her husband functioned normally for years, and years.

STILL - it's so frightening, concerning, but I know there are a lot of newer medications which help.  I had no idea my friend's DH has PD, and I saw them both often.

Off topic - temps in the 30's and it feels SO GOOD.  Truly, this has been a very difficult winter in this area...

Chickadee - rest, rest, rest, as deep a breath as you can take ;)  more rest, and all good wishes. SO glad you're home.

Sunny, since he was diagnosed, pending response to medication, at 72, it is definitely adult onset!

Chicky, just want to repeat what Sunny said rest up and get that leg mobility back asap!

Yorkie, my PD is the rigidity one.  I don't shake.  I'm just as stiff as a board....that's why I'm always in pain.  When I take my meds I feel a lot better but if I take too much I get dyskinesia (involuntary movements), because I've been on ldopa for 13 years, so it's a fine line I'm on.  The DBS really helped a lot but it too has side effects which of course, I've developed.  So now I'm dealing with dystonia (muscles moving against each other) and have had to turn the stimulator down to a lower voltage.

The kind your hubby has is the shaky kind.  Does he have arm swing when he walks, or walks with a stoop.  First signs.

He will be fine with the meds.
