Hi Ladies,
Glad you are having such a great time Kathy. My husband and I had a wonderful time on Oahu about 5 years ago. We loved every minute, but enjoyed going home to familiar things after a week there. I pray for safe travel.
Janet, I hope you are recovering well. Our weather here in the mountains has been rough the last few days. Today is extremely cold with high winds that are blowing snow in all directions. My DH and I were going to go out today, but have opted to stay inside where it's warm. Frankly, I am ready for winter to be over. I miss going for lovely walks. It's just too cold for that right now.
I haven't gotten back to exercising yet as I am finally feeling better from my bout with the flu. I plan on starting again this week. We are traveling to see our granddaughter and kids on Tuesday next week. I can't wait to spend an entire day with Erin. We are watching her in Thursday. I am so excited about it.
Hey Tammy and Cookie Monster. I hope you ladies are doing well. Spring will be here before we know it.
Take care everyone!
-
Lovely to hear from everyone!
Janet, glad the surgery went ahead and that you are in the way to recovery
Kathy, walking and yummy fruit....mmmm....sounds wonderful....
Rocket, glad you are feeling better....take it easy and enjoy the time with the family...
-
Hi, Rocket! I hope you continue to feel better each day!! Enjoy your time with Erin!! Spring will come and then you can enjoy your walks again!!
Thank you, Janet!! We are flying home today!!
Thank you, Tammy!! It was a wonderful trip, but looking forward to sleeping in my own bed!!!
-
Kathy, Janet, Rocket....it is all very quiet on this topic...I hope everyone is OK....
I am on day 3 of Weight Watchers and so far everything I'm doing well.....but it is early days
-
Hi Gals,
That's wonderful Tammy! You can do it! Stick to it and you will see the pounds melt off.
I'm back to exercising, but slowly. I started feeling sick again last night (extreme head congestion and sore throat). My Dh is leaving again today and will be gone all week. He travels next week too for three days, and then he will be done. I can't wait! Whenever he goes away, I either get sick or something breaks down and I have to hire someone to come fix it. Hopefully I'll start feeling better soon. I have really pushed healthy eating at the top of my priority list. I eat mostly fruits and veggies with lean meat. I have quit eating dairy and grains to see if that helps me feel better. I will give it a try. I have to do something! I just want my energy back so I can exercise at a better pace. I feel like a slug lately.
-
Dear Tammy, I am seriously back on WW too!! Too much eating on the trip!! Also eliminating sugar!! I feel so much better when I don't eat sugar, why I keep doing it, I just don't know!! Thank you for your incentive!!! Seeing friends from Pittsburgh during the month of March, so I am on it!!
Dear Rocket!! Awww! I hope you feel better soon!! It is hard to want to exercise when you are not feeling good!! Hopefully, Spring is coming soon and the sunshine will lift your spirits!!! Great idea about eliminating dairy and grains!! I need to do that as well!!! Thank you!!
Hi, Tenaj!! Hope you are doing well!!!
-
Kathy, good work...keep us posted on your progress!
Rocket, take care of yourself...slow and steady will get you back on track
-
I saw a Robin Red Breast yesterday! Spring is headed this way (well after tomorrow's predicted snowfall that is). I did make it to the pool today for my LE class. It felt really good to get in the water. I had a girlfriend over for dinner tonight as DH is still out of town and we had a nice time. I made a healthy dinner and now I'm going to snack on some frozen grapes before going to bed. I just love frozen grapes, especially the red ones. Have you ladies tried them?
-
Rocket, frozen grapes....now that sounds healthy! I must try some. Thanks for the tip!
I think I've already lost a couple of pounds...yay!
-
good morning ladies! Youn can also freeze blueberries! Very delish!!
They scale is stuck in reverse! I need to do more exercising! We are still in the polar vortex type weather. Not getting above freezing for another 6 days or so. Minimal snow today with a possible storm in the days ahead! Crazy!! Really want to get on the bike! Kathy, I hear your area is finally getting some rain, be safe!
I see my MO today for a work up & quarterly lupron injection. So tired of doctors!! I see my eye MD next Monday, was hoping to see better. I still have healing to do, driving is a challenge....not sure if I will need glasses for that.
Good luck with the WW Tammy & Kathy. Feel better Rocket!
-
Tammy, that is great!!!!Tenaj, please stay safe, no more snow!!!i am so with you about seeing doctors!!! Let's all end the day with chocolate!!! We deserve it!!!
-
I just can't believe it! I have pinkeye! I also have a ton of sinus congestion. Finally called the doc and he gave me some antibiotic eye drops. Also have a cough and feel awful! I was awake every hour last night. My DH is still out of town until tomorrow night. Oh I really need to get better! So tired
-
-
Oh, my goodness, Rocket!! You have been through the ringer!!! Prayers and more prayers are coming your way!!!! Try and get some rest!!!!
-
Ooh Rocket, you poor thing.....rest is best!
-
Thanks so much for the prayers. DH is home for a few days and then leaves again on Tuesday. I told him not to get close to me as this is really contagious. I still feel awful. My throat is extremely sore. My eyes are very slowly getting a little better with the drops. They feel like someone has poured sand into them. I haven't been eating much other than homemade fruit smoothies made with pineapple juice, pineapple chunks, frozen strawberries and frozen blueberries. It feels good on my throat. I've also been drinking green tea with a little honey. At least I'm losing some weight! He he. Yesterday I was in bed until 1 pm. I was too exhausted to do much else.
I will recover. I'm just not very patient with how long it takes. I feel like a walking Petri dish!
I hope all of you ladies are doing well.
-
Hi, Rocket!! I just remembered this! A couple of weeks ago I had sinus congestion, it was really hard to breathe. When I was picking up a prescription, the pharmacist suggested I take Sudafed, it is behind the counter and you have to sign for it. It really helped! Yes, and I drank green tea and honey! Pink eye is miserable, but hopefully the drops will help!! In the meantime, rest and drink lots of fluids!!! Hope you feel better soon!!!
We have lots of rain here, we are good, but flash flooding inland!! We needed the rain, but mud slides are causing problems for many! Praise The Lord no fatalities or serious injuries, but stressful for many!!! Hope everyone has a great weekend, lots of hugs!!! I have been doing some weight training, sore today!! Ate a little too much yesterday, so cutting back today!!! My daughter in law bought a weight watchers scale and it is so accurate, not in a good way, he, he, he!!!
-
Kathy, weight training is good. What are you doing? Good to hear you are safe!
-
Hi, Tammy!!! Thank you for your well wishes!! I use free weights and the machines down in our exercise room!! Have a wonderful Sunday!!!!
-
Kathy, I am interested in getting back into weight training but I was a little concerned about lymphoedema. I suppose I just need to start with light weights and build up....maybe later this year.....
I am currently starting to train for a 4 Km fun run in May so maybe after that!
-
Hi,Tammy!! Wow, good for you in getting ready for the run!! I was just telling my hubby we need to sign up for 5 or 6k walks!! I have a friend whose goal is to do as many 5k walks this year as she can! I have Lymphedema in my left arm and my PT had told me to use only 5 lb weights with that arm! Maybe check with your doctor first! Have a great Sunday!!!!
-
Kathy, thanks for the advice! Walks would be good too!
-
Hey Gals,
My pink eye is gone!!!! Yay!!!! I am still really congested though. I can't take Sudafed because it increases your heart rate and I have a heart rhythm disorder, so no Sudafed and no oral antibiotics because I am allergic to them all. I just have to tough it out. I am starting to feel better though. Thanks so much for praying for me.
I took one of my dogs, Baxter, to the vet two weeks ago for his annual checkup and the vet discovered a broken molar. It needed to be removed to prevent an abscess from forming. I asked the cost and the vet said between $250-$350. So today I dropped Baxter off for his procedure and the vet's office called me to let me know how he was doing as well as to tell me the cost. The girl said it was between $575-$700. I told her what the other vet had quoted me and she put me on hold forever. Fortunately the previous vet remembered quoting me the lower price, and said he would adjust the bill. Whew, that was one expensive tooth! Maybe I need pet insurance!
I am going to give myself and Baxter this week to recover and then I plan on getting back to exercising. I feel like I have been sick almost this entire year so far. I know that I'm sick of that!
I hope all you ladies have a great day and are doing well. Glad you are safe Kathy!
-
Hi,Rocket, so glad that your pink eye is gone!! Yes, suds fed can elevated your heart rate!! I took half the dosage!! Hope your congestion resolves soon!! You deserve to feel 100%.. Your poor Baxter, hope he is healing and feeling better soon! We never had to get pet insurance, but these days, it might be a good idea!! Our little Tracy, poodle, lived for 18 years, and we still have not replaced her!!!
Hi, Tenaj!!! Hope you are doing well!!!
Hi, Tammy!! How is the trains going?? You are awesome!!!
Blessings, Kathy

Hi Ladies, sorry I have been MIA......It's been busy with wedding planning, recuperating, MD appointments & working. The good news is I got a good report from my MO, all my numbers are good & she says don't worry so much! That's easier said then done. As far as my eyes are concerned...of course I can't have things go smoothly! I have developed a "secondary cataract" from healing too quickly, seems that in younger patients this is more common. I will need to get a laser treatment in a few months to fix that problem but unfortunately I needed to order distance glasses for driving & such now. I was seeing 20/20 two weeks ago & hope to get back there soon. It sort of flipped me out yesterday when I was driving to order them, this isn't what I had expected. But he ordered me to use restasis for dry eyes & be patient. So that's what I'm gonna do!!
I started with a high protein shake today & am going to try some shakes & yogurts for 2 meals a day. I'm looking for a jump start on some weight loss, hopefully this works. It is still cold here but I anticipate being able to tolerate some outside weather any day now. I have been doing some exercises at home with light weights & crunches.....
Kathy, have you rested since your vacation? I'm sure it was fabulous. The fruit sounded great!
Rocket, sorry you're not feeling well again. You can snuggle up with your pup & you'll be feeling better soon.
Hi Tammy! I'm sure your training for your run will get you going!! When is it?
Have a great day all!
(((hugs)))
-
hi, Tenaj!! So good to see you here!! Hooray, for good test results, but sorry to hear that you still have cataract issues!! Hope everything resolves soon! You have a lot on your plate right now!! How are the wedding plans coming? You will be a beautiful Mother of the Bride!!! What kind of protein shakes are you making!! I am using some weights too!!! Please take care of yourself!!! Blessings, Ksthy
-
Hi Kathy! After much research by my DH, he found "pure edge" from GNC. It's chocolate flavored & I blenderize it with organic milk. It has no sugar or soy & is made with real cocoa. It is very delicious, I think I can do this for a bit. I need a jump start !!! Beside it tastes like melted ice cream
-
sounds wonderful!!! Thanks for sharing the info!!!!
-
Good morning ladies! Hope all is well & you are enjoying life & the good feeling from taking good care of yourself. I am back on track & feeling great. I've been doing the protein drink & yogurt 2x/day with lots of water & green tea. I am doing a lentil or white bean soup for a meal also. The scale is slowly moving down which is nice to see. But the most important thing is how good I feel, not bloated & just generally better about myself that I am taking care of myself. thinking about you lovely ladies, enjoy your day!
-
Hi, Tenaj!! That is absolutely wonderful !! Your body is happy and so are you!!! How long will you keep replacing 2 meals with protein drinks? I am so happy for you!!!
