    Barbe it was a late afternoon early evening wedding and the party went on until midnight.  I posted the pics on FB because my other niece couldn't attend as she lives in Queensland with her hubby and three children and was really disappointed so when her mum told me I took the photos and posted as it was happening so she could share the day.

    I'm glad everyone else got to enjoy them as well!

    What a GREAT idea to post them as the event occurred!!!! I quickly picked up that they were posted in a "backwards" timeline so scrolled down until your first post and watched the event unfold. Isn't social media amazing!!!!! What a gift you gave your niece to be part of it all.

    Barbe, when my DD first told me about FB I was very leary of it and still am to a degree so I'm always careful what I say and what I post but it is just the best thing for sharing great family events with those who cannot attend.

    Lol.......I hear you on that score but I keep track of what my grands are doing as they are quite a bit older than yours.  I find it interesting the sorts of things they are into.........oh, and a couple of years ago I used to monitor the eldest ones bedtime as he had a habit of staying up way after everyone else was in bed so every now and then he'd get a pm from his gran saying 'bedtime'!    Funnily enough, he would turn off the computer and comply!

    Chevy's going home today. Only taking tylenol. hardly feels she even needs that. Up with PT a couple of times, Everything's ready at home. Anxious to be out of there, home, and back here Love to all XOXO sassy.

    Chrissy, the wedding looks lovely! May they have a long and delightful life together.

    I've reconnected with old friends and some cousins on FB - I'm finding it a lot of fun though I don't post that often.

    Chrissy, The bride's dress is gorgeous and SIL's goes perfectly. Beautiful wedding.

    I mainly use Facebook to keep track of grands and old friends from work. I'm a lot older, so they're all still slaving away.

    Chrissy, I was at a wedding yesterday,too. It was great fun to be with family. Also not much responsibility. They had the reception at a grand old Florida villa. There was a full moon and we sat outside. The temperature was perfect.It was like a fairy garden. 

    Today we had lunch with 3jays and her husband. So wonderful to meet her face to face. Felt like we've been friends forever.

    Now we are on our way up the coast a bit to Cape Coral. I am not missing all the snow they got at home.

    Nancy, I'm so glad you got to spend time with 3jays!  She's one special lady.

    Chrissy, love the wedding pictures here and on FB!  Looks like everyone had such a good time and the couple look sooo happy.  What a great beginning for them.

    I use FB primarily to keep in contact with friends and also to see pictures of the grandchildren.  (Even though all 3 grands are close by, their parents post pictures for their friends which I get to see.) I've especially liked it for reconnecting with old childhood friends.

    Hi all

    Love Lisa's flowers on FB and I too can see my little ones who are in Canad. I do miss them so much.

    Good docs report  today. Hard to believe its 7 years and just so thankful.

    Nancy it was lovely that you could get to meet 3jays. It is wonderful to meet our BCO friends.

    Oh yeah!  Lisa's Flower of the day is just great!  Lisa you sure do take some fantastic pics!

    Nancy I'm so glad you got to have face time with 3jays.........she is such a wonderful, plucky, funny lady!  I loved the time I got to spend with her when I came to the USA in 2011.  Weddings are such fun when you are just a guest......lol......no stress.  Hope you had as much fun at your as I did at mine!

    Aly Yay for a good report!!!  and congrats for the seven years up!!!   Breathe easy for the next twelve months......lol......if you can.

    Must have slept well last night because I was up at a reasonable hour and actually got quite a few things done!  The best of being up early is that the parcel delivery guy could actually deliver my new bluetooth speaker for my phone instead of leaving it at the post office.  I'm so happy that the speakers have arrived, now I can listen to internet radio which is as clear as a bell instead of something that was full of static.......yay!!!!

    Then this afternoon my DH arrived home with another parcel from the posty and it was my new teapot with a tea light warmer.......it feels like christmas all over again!!

    Hello to everyone.  I'm back home from our wonderful trip to AUS and NZ.  This was our first tour.  The company was Collette and everything was well-planned.  We had a very good guide for the entire trip.  We flew to Brisbane and from there to Cairns, which the Aussies pronounce "Cans."  The high points there were a visit to the Great Barrier Reef and taking the Skyrail Rainforest Cableway to experience the rainforest.  It was SO humid that we could have been back home in Louisiana!

    Next a flight to Ayers Rock or Uluru.  Other flights took us to Alice Springs, Melbourne, Tasmania, and Sydney.  From Sydney we flew to Queenstown, NZ, which is a gorgeous place.  We went to Milford Sound from Queenstown and took a cruise on the fjord.  Next to Mt. Cook National Park.  A bus ride through the beautiful southern Alps brought us to Hammer Springs.  Next to Wellington, where we learned a lot about the Maori culture. Next to Rotorua, where we stayed overnight with a host family.  Finally to Auckland where the tour ended.

    Fourteen flights in all!  And I had not flown for at least 20 yrs.  After a while it became ho-hum.  The trip was fast-paced with lots of sight-seeing and side trips.  Australia is such a diverse interesting country.  I found the wild life fascinating and the people were so friendly and helpful.  New Zealand is incredibly beautiful, especially the South Island.  I loved riding through the countryside and seeing all the farm animals grazing in the pastures, some of which were on mountainsides. 

    The hotels were all nice but internet was quite limited.  We usually had 30 min. of free internet, which I let dh use with his new notebook.  So I was pretty much not "connected" on the trip.  I didn't check in with bc.org at all.  Alyson, we were travelling with another couple and our time in Auckland was hectic.  By then we were also somewhat fatigued and facing the long travel home.

    All in all the trip was fabulous and I enjoyed the experiences in both countries.  The food was very good and we sampled fish with unfamiliar names like barramundi and blue eye.  The vegetables were delicious.  I spent too much money on souvenirs like a beautiful opal ring.  I discovered I couldn't afford black opal but could splurge to buy a ring with a "boulder opal" stone.  DH bought a sweater in NZ made of possum and merino wool.  It is incredibly soft.  The possum is a bushy-tail variety, not like our possums here in the south. 

    It was a trip of a lifetime and it's good to be home.

    AJ, your fall into the fireplace was a frightening accident.  I'm so glad you're ok.

    Chrissy, I love your cheery snowflake afghan.  My preference is the red background! 

    Leah, my heartfelt condolences on the passing of your father.  I still miss mine after 18 years.

    SAS, congratulations on your cancerversary!  In June I will celebrate 5 years after the dx.

    SoCal, great photographs, as always.  You would have a field day in Australia! 

    Sorry for missed responses.  This thread has such a gentle caring atmosphere.  It's comforting to come here.

    Carole, so freaky you mention merino and possum wool as Alyson had just posted about it on Facebook and I'd never heard of possum wool!!! I would have thought it very raspy...welcome home!

    Carole I'm so glad you enjoyed your trip 'down under'! Both Aus and NZ!  Yes, Aus is a big country with plenty of diversity in weather, animal and plant life..........you are right, Lisa would have a ball here with her camera! I'll bet you'll need a holiday to get over your holiday.......lol.......but it's good to be home!

    Barbe, possums here are so, so soft to touch and having the hair mixed with merino would be amazing! and very warm to boot!

    Just relaxing today playing with computers.........a friend who is new to computing bought his laptop for me to sort out as he has downloaded about ten copies of the same program and all the search engines that go with them as well and all sorts of things that have just clogged his computer up to the wazoo.  It's taken me a couple of hours but I think he now has a much more manageable file system and only single copies of each program.

    The possum here is different to the ones in the US -we got ours from Aussie and they are a real pest here that's why we use the fur. They are protected in Aus but here they eat the bush.

    They come in lots of colours from black to cream.

    Leah, I too love Lisa's Flower of the Day on FB!  It's amazing that she's surrounded by so many beautiful ones while it's below freezing here!  Everything Lisa posts is gorgeous.

    Carole, so glad you had a happy and safe "trip of a lifetime"!  It sounds fabulous!

    Alyson, hooray for you---7 years!!!  I'm so very happy for you!

    Now I never ever thought possums could be used for making wool.  We do have an abundance here, although many of them meet their maker on the roads.   I think some people even used to eat them, but not this girl.

    That's a cute possum. Ours are like big ugly rats. We have a cat who lives outdoors when it's warm enough & put his food on the porch. If we forget to bring it in at night possums come up on the porch to eat it - they do not scare away easily at ALL!

    The fur is mixed with the wool Kathy and its very soft and extremely warm. We refer to them as little speed humps!!

    Zig, I remember seeing one at a friends house in California when I was over there.......it was walking along the top of the fence and when I got close I was preparing for it to skitter away but instead it stopped dead in it's tracks and stayed perfectly still for probably a good five minutes!  Now I know where the saying 'playing possum' comes from.........lol.......except for the fact it was on it's feet, it could easily be taken for dead!

    Lisa, you do indeed cheer us all with your lovely photographs.

    Awe Aly........lol.

    My shoulder and arm are killing me from spending way too long sorting my friends computer but he is very happy and understands a lot more now as I went through quite a lot.    I told him to make a list as he finds things that baffle him and give me a ring so they can be sorted.   Now it's time to settle back and watch a bit more of the Olympics.
