Tampa area BCO sisters get togethers

I went to Susan at Florida Hospital Tampa and was pretty happy with her if you decide to move away from Watson Clinic.
-
It was Timpano's that we did a little gathering that ended up just being 3 of us, right? I enjoyed that as well if we try for a night sometime in the future.
-
Thanks for great input, y'all. I think I saw someone on LANA certification list at Florida Hospital in Zephyrhills, not terribly far, but I would rather know someone had a good experience with their therapist (or advise one to avoid).

Hi Girls, Ameron here. Finally surfacing after a very hectic holiday season. To all of those that signed my card, THANK YOU, it made me teary
Greatfull for all your support. Put me down as a probably/maybe on Saturday. I actually had another distant family member passaway this week and funeral is Saturday, but I am not sure I'm going, so it would be good to see all of you if I don't go.

Hi, just realized I'm in a serious fog, thought the get together was TOMORROW. I don't even know what month it is apparently. I'm in For FEBRUARY 22nd
-
Oh My Dog! Is that really on the menu? I'm doomed.
-
There are SO many choices! I just counted 37 different CHEESECAKES on their current menu!!!!!!!!!!! Decisions, decisions, decisions!!! As Galsal said "oooo la LA"
Ameron, so good to hear from you! My condolences to you on the loss of your family member. My thoughts and prayers are with you.
Pinellas/Pasco ladies...I was wondering if you would want to have a get together on this side of the bridge in between our bigger "Tampa Bay area" get together. (like the Tampa ladies do...I am just not up to traveling to South Tampa on a weeknight in rush hour traffic...) What do you think? anyone interested?
-
I for one would like that. I'm retired, still don't want to do the rush hour thing to Tampa on a weeknight.
Do you have any place in mind?
-
I am really going to try & make it on the 22nd. Might not be able to stay the whole time, but it has been so long since I've seen most of you & I'd love to catch up!
-
Yay DLL66 !
Looks like we'll be taking over a big section of tables again.
SpecialK....will you be joining us?
-
Still not sure, but will let you know!

Hi Ladies,
Is there such a thing as LE under an arm, in the arm pit area? I've had lypo twice during reconstruction and just noticed a weird swelling develope over the past month.....
My last reconstruction was in Aug 2013.
Concerned,
Lorraine

Check with the LE thread. There are some awesome experts there!
-
thanks, I will.
-
I want to get together on this Pinellas side.....there are some really cute shops all around us! Great Greek restaurants , maybe the Indian ones are great as well OR, we could have a picnic at one of the parks!! Ah, just lounging around staring at the clouds, chatting! It'll be great!! Sign me up!!

Firework, I get an area of LE under my arm pit and one on my side. It comes and goes and has since mx no recon 2 1/2 years ago. I also have cording in that arm that comes and goes...oh, the joys! I had never developed swelling in the arm/hand until a couple of weeks ago (Jan 31st, exactly 3 years to the day from dx...) it seems to be resolving. As Spookiesmom mentioned there is a lot of info on the LE threads. Wishing you well.
-
thank you all, I really thought it possible to avoid getting LE but, if you saw the bulge under my arm pit, I think you'd agree! I didn't miss that side effect either!!
I'm going to the threads....thanks all!
-
There's yummy food in Tarpon Springs on the docks. Anybody up for that?
-
Spookiesmom,
I'll be up for something like that after March. Husband deploys and we've got vacation but keep me on the enthusiastic list!

Maybe the snowbirds would be gone by then! Sounds good.

Firework, FLwarrior, SpecialK, and others dealing with LE,
I recently started to get that swelling and soreness below my missing lymph node area too, and have wondered if it could be breast/truncal LE, especially with recon and scarring in that area. I did see an LE therapist last week for my new arm ache and edema, and have a new compression sleeve on order. SpecialK, I got my MO to refer me to Watson, then it turned out their only LE therapist will be gone for 12 weeks, so then I had the referral sent to LRMC's (Lakeland hospital) outpatient rehab place -- the last link you gave me on the previous page. Thanks.
I'm doing self-MLD a few times a day, along with shoulder exercises because I lost some ROM when the arm swelled, evidently with lymph congestion in the shoulder too. The pain along the inner arm went away, but I still have a puffy inner elbow. Next week's appointment, I'll ask about the underarm swelling if it's still there -- that's an awkward one because who wants to wear a chest compression garment to control that one area. What's the alternative -- bra with high supportive sides? I know there's something called "swell spots" to insert, but haven't investigated yet.
Still planning to join you on Feb 22 -- wow, 15 on the list now.
-
...interesting topic, what garmet would you wear for underarm LE? Maybe there's a shoulder piece to wear (at night!)
Lorraine
-
Compression top or vest?
I have started wearing a calf compression garment for running on my left leg at work. I am on my feet for 9+ hours every day & it swells a little. It's not LE...I busted my knee in a horrible work-related drinking accident last summer, LOL.
-
dll - work-related drinking accident, sounds like a great story.....
-
SpecialK, did you have an especially bad storm this PM? A BCO poster from Texas said she heard people were stuck on rides at Busch. I don't have TV.
-
On Bay news9 they showed folks stuck on the cheetah roller coaster. They were there through the whole storm. Scary! And they had a small tornado in Ft Mead. The storm front felt like a summer storm as it rolled in. hope everyone stayed safe and dry!
-
Yes, it was very hard rain and wind - there were a lot of palm fronds in the road.
