How vain are you?

I always liked Este Lauders Beautiful. 

Clinique Aromatics for years and years for me, but I can't wear it anymore.  Have any of you had menopause affect your sense of smell?  I can't bear heavily scented things anymore, when I used to love heavy duty Orientals, etc. Even lots of fairly mildly scented laundry detergents get me now.

I used to wear Chanel #19, but I think they stopped making it Lately I have been wearing one from Korres - white tea and bergamot.

Estee Lauder's White Linen.... *sigh*

Loved it, wore it for years. Now I can't stand ANY perfumes, colognes, lotions, etc. Even scented candles!!! My throat closes up and my eyes water.

Some of the worst offenders? Men, with their stinky colognes and after-shaves... just one hug and my clothes, skin, and hair are contaminated for the rest of the day. I have to change clothes, shower, and wash my hair to get the scent out, then wash the clothes and hope the offending odor washes out.

Talk about Honey Badger pee!!!!! 

Lipstick - bet most of you never even saw it, ah, the joys of being older ;-)

Faberge "Stained Glass" - and Cary Grant was in the ads ;-)  He was on the board of the company.

AND, did anyone else ever use the Charles of the Ritz thick, thick moisturizer in the black jar cuz it smelled like bubble gum????

First Lipstick:  MilkMaid "Pixie Pink."   Also smelled delicious - white enamel case with little flowers on it.

DD when she lived at home and I shared some version of Chanel - it was wonderful, bought at Ulta for a really good price. Wish I could remember the name - don't see it around there now. My DM loved Chanel #5 - I love it on others. I have a spray bottle of Jessica McClintock "Jess" that I love and use sparingly. Also love L'air du Temps. Also tried one time sample of Ralph Lauren "Safari for Women".

My first job was working in a very ritzy little ladies boutique.  We sold Frances Denney cosmetics.  I still love Hope & Interlude perfumes and they had the perfect neutral taupe eyeshadow "Mushroom". 

 Then I worked cosmetics in the drugstore through the rest of high school & college (back when drugstores actually had a cosmetics counter & salesperson).  I wish I could still have a bottle of Jovan Frankincense & Myrrh perfume from the late 70's.

Favorite colognes.....Oscar de la Renta and all time favorite is Angel.   Angel will get you "jumped", so use sparingly with your significant other.  LOL

No Selena is not being pressured to do any such thing. She is just flying the flag for those of us who have been thoroughly enjoying this thread and it's fun trajectory.

Remember Coty Sweet Earth solid perfume compacts?

I normally don't wear perfume, as my DH has allergic reactions to most botanicals. However, my DD gave me a perfume called "Grace" which he doesn't seem to be affected by. These posts reminded me to squirt some on before dinner tonight! I just love all my vain friends! 

My all time fave fragrance is Paloma Picasso! Just got a bottle for my 60th last year!

Loved Givenchy L'interdit, but it was discontinued, Love Chanel Allure, Ralph Loren Romance and Clarins Eau Dynamisante for a refreshing pep up!

I love the smell of Xeryus or Lanvin on my man

I love aromatherapy oils these days, they act as an analgesic for Rheumatoid pain and they smell amazing, and they can help with your mood too! 

I had a period when I couldn't take the smell of any perfumes because I worked in cosmetics and simply had an overload. Like all beauty workers, I could recognize a fragrance and name it in a flash! We used to keep coffee beans in our pocket to refresh the nose, but I was never convinced that worked! LOL

OMG! The Avon stuff!  I still have the little gingerbread man in my treasure box.  I had the cookie with two lip glosses inside, too.  I wish they still made that stuff for my daughters.  Very age appropriate and not cheap junk.

I have a sizable stash of fragrances.  I really don't wear anything these days, though.  I've always had a sensitive nose and wore them lightly.  I'm more sensitive during and soon after active treatment.  I made hubby wear unscented deo as those fragrances are the *worst*!  My all time favorite is Donna Karan Chaos. It had never bothered me, as some of my other fragrances will on occasion.  But lately I prefer the fragrance oil Persian Garden by Kuumba Made.  

I read the locked thread.  Wowie!  I'm a bit...ruffled by alternative and complimentary treatments as better than conventional.  My chemo friend from my first round of chemo passed away last month.  She was 36 with a 3 yo daughter and triple positive.  She was also vegan, no sugar, perfect physical shape (except, you know, cancer), followed her conventional doctors advice, switched conventional doctors when she wasn't satisfied, got a second opinion from MDA, did alternative and complimentary treatments such as vit C infusions, mistletoe, hyperbaric treatments, bikram yoga, acupuncture, saw a naturopath and integrative oncologist, etc etc etc.  Very determined.  But she got mets to her brain and progressed very rapidly.  Sometimes, as we know, nothing can stop the beast.  

I remember that book Melissa.  Cider, I am so sorry to hear about your wonderful friend.  So sorry.

Very glad that our Selena is not being pressured to add those things to the intro to the vain thread.  You all do not need to change one thing about yourselves.  As you can see, our Ariom has excellent and expensive taste in perfumes!  Hmm.  I am not very interesting on that subject.  DLLP does not like perfume.  It irritates me if it is too chemical.  And I like my Caudalie Divine Oil.  Is not perfume -- is moisturizer -- but it is full of essential oils and has a beautiful scent.

My favorite "scent" right now is Pielor's Tunisian Amber bath gel & lotion. It's made in Turkey.

Andrea, I think that book is one of the most lovely tributes ever written for anyone.
