Wow, this thread is hopping again!  I started reading everything but with 4 pages, I thought I would check in and then go back and read.

I am like Sheila and just don't know why I have not been posting.  And like Diane because things are just yucky and haven't felt like posting.

DS had surgery for cancer the day before Thanksgiving and that started our holidays out differently.

We then went to Arizona to be with grands for Christmas.  It's weird and uncomfortable to be at someone else's home for the whole holiday.  We had done day where it was just us, DIL & DS and the grands.  Her grandparents came and spent Christmas day and DIL was using our names (What Patch calls US) to refer to them.  At the end of the night she told Patch to tell them goodnight (Using our grandparent names). not be good at   So, he turns and waves goodbye to us.  I might not be good at explaining it, but it chaps my hide to hear them using our names!  Her grandfather is a piece of work ....pervert, and last night I finally told DS We did not want to be referred to by the same names as those people".

We have had 41 days of drought to date.  We rarely wear a sweater and it has been in the 70s and even up to 80 this month.  It's crazy!

On the lighter side, after 9 years of asking, DH finally agreed to go to dance lessons with me.  I am a klutz but I wanted to do it, so that is what he gave me for Christmas.  We have four lessons of West Coast Swing down and we are actually doing pretty well.  I was ready to cry during lesson two but came back the next week and can hold my head up.

About DH's with big mouths...On Sunday we were walking out of the store where I took my fall last Winter, DH sings out "Watch~your~step~~".  I told him I was glad he saw humor in it.  He tried to tell me he was genuinely warning me.  RIGHT!  Thats why he had to sing it.

Going back to read the other pages now...

Meece.....so good to hear from you.............knew you were absent for a while, but then so was I from this thread and so were a few others..........but we are back, and hope we all stay.

Love your holiday stories......ugs.....know what you mean.....

LMAO at your husband's comment................great gift...........I love to dance, and would give anything for a partner to take lessons.............my daughter and I went to take Line Dancing lessons3 years ago......while I was on my 4th week of 8, I was dx with BC,  but I continued to the end..........nothing more fun then Line dancing..........I mean super fun..........they also had Ballroom, but no partner for that.

Isn't Swing what they use to call Jitterbugging.......showing my age now, but oh that is pure heaven to do.........did it 5 days a week back in the 50's on American Bandstand........loved it.

    Don't be a stranger.....so good hearing from you.........hugs.

Meece!  Very nice to see you here. We had a conversation re grandparent names prior to birth.  DIL told us the names chosen by her father and her mother, her stepfather, and her stepmother.  We told her that we totally understand giving her mother and her mother first choice which were different than ours, but that we were going with Mimi and Papa.  Her stepmother wanted to be Mimi and I said well she can be "Mimi Barbara", but I am Mimi, not Mimi Diane, just Mimi.  She's tried a few times to do the Mimi and Papa followed with our names but my GD doesn't participate in that at all.  GD has never met her stepmother or stepfather, so why does she even care.....mothers of sons, take heart, wish I'd spent more time on how to choose a wife and less time on the importance of grades, whatever....

Rain......I am Nannie to all my grandkids.....that was it, like it or not........now the 2 youngest, call me Nan, Nannie, but my SIL's mother also wanted Nanny............so they called her Nanny D....for the last name.............

No way was I giving up that to anyone.....I did not give a shit who she was, or what she wanted.....for over 20 years with my first grandkids of the 18, I had that, and it was not going to change....although most call me Nan.......unless they are talking about me, and then they will say  "Nannie" to whoever they are speaking with.....

My husband when he was alive was  Poppie....some never got to meet him, only the 1st 9, and they were pretty young......oldest was the twins, they were 8, and the youngest was 1 year....

My great grandchildren who are 3 and down, call me G.G. or Nannie Great..........

    Good morning my dear friends.......

i don't want to offend anybody but it seems like it's more difficult to be a mother of a son..

Again my if my DD was my DIL i will be as dissapointed and pissed off to some of her ideas about the baby

She is difficult so like I said before no pink anything....birth plan after birth....I just listen and don't participate much of her ideas...After all I never given birth or pregnant....LOL

The best thing is stay out from most everything

I didn't buy anything pink.....Actually i didn't buy any clothing just the important things like car seat ETC

You know what for me it's not worth to get completely aggrivated and it's not just the pink stuff

I love my daughter and my SIL and looking forward for the big day

    To Be Cont....

No options it's my decision,,,not a big deal but i need to have a title it can even be just plain Grandma

I just finish frying 9 eggplants...kitchen is under grease but who cares...i don't have to answer to nobody

I'm making her favorite dish that i post on FB every Chrismas....She loves it///but i never made a big amount like this

Now i'm little tired ..Weather is cooperating so i was able to leave them open to clear the grease smell

I have leftover Chinese food from last night

I dont remember who was asking about Linda ( Makratz)  She is on FB and she seems to be OK...I missed her

Where is the spell check...i know I'm spelling the most words wrong

WHERE IS THE ***(&^&*   spell check....I t gives me a red sign when it's wrong but if I don't know how to spell how am I suppose to fix?

    HEEEEEEELP......

Sheila....it is so great having you back......love to read your posts.......your my kind of gal, like so many others on here...you shoot from the hip.

It was I, me, who asked about Linda.....loved her too......

I chose to be called what my kids called my Mother, and what i called my Grandmother...Nannie.......now in Italian its Nonno, but I am not Italian, my husband was......Irish and English, Scots use Nannie.....and I am mostly Irish.....some of my friends use Mom, Mom, but I don't like that.

And your right......daughters can be easier then sons, but I stood my ground, and guess what, let me say this.....son had his kids first.......DIL was a bitch...then...........my daughters both had their babies 1 week apart.....and a little less then  years after my DIL had hers....my daughters had 1 boy, 1 girl........they became my life.......all of a sudden......my DIL realized she had cut off her own nose, and then eased up some, but was still a bitch...............I blame my son just as much....nothing stopping him from bringing the kids over............but then again, he had to live with her........

Today, her mother, whose ass she was up, and smothered the twins.......does not talk to her, and she is a wonderful DIL, now......has been for sometime...........so just a little story about sons vs daughters.......of course I was accused of having favorites....daughters kids of course, but hey..........they started it........I loved his twins so much, but they held them over my head, and her mother got card blanc...but after the battle had not seen them for years...not even her G grandchildren of which she has 3.......I a G.G. to them or Nannie Great........ok, that's it..............hugs

Meece - I just read back again.  How is your DS?  I didn't know about his cancer?

Diane, thank you for asking.  He is doing pretty well.  Surgery got the whole cancer and he will be watched indefinitely but no chemo or rads.  He's my most thoughtful son and during my cancer experience he was a doll.  I hated the thought that he would have to go through it.

We got a good mist all day yesterday, so out dry run of 41 days has been broken.  I doubt there was much measurable, but it was better than another day in the 70s.  We had 12 days over 70 in January.

Sheila, spell check is automatic now.  If you misspell it underlines it in red.  Then just right click the work and you get the correction options.

We asked to be called Grandma and Grandpa.  Then DIL's parents saif THEY wanted those names.  So we went with Gam-mar and PawPaw.  That is what DIL is now using for her family.  We are now toying with Meemaw and Pops, but we aren't sold on it.

I would give anything for a few 70 days.....again today it is 19.........it will take many warm days for my pipe to my washer to thaw out........

I eill be 79 in April, and never remember a winter in Philly like this one.........I had nothing but trouble, and.......even had to cancel Dr.s appt. cause I could not get my car doors open........today it is suppose to hit 40.........that will feel like a heat wave........have a great day......

My DIL always called her Grandmother....Grammy....and that is what my G. Grandaughters call her now.......

I love G.G. just the 2 initials.......that is what my G. Grandaughters call me, but I know some girls who use that for their Grandmother name.....I think it is cute......and I love Poppie......

Hi, no internet for 2 days and I have been conking out at night early.  I had 2 nights of real sleep after weeks of poor sleep.  I think I'm turning the corner on this head congestion.
Meece, I am glad to hear your DS's surgery is behind him.  What a difficult experience for all of you.  It sounds like he will be closely followed.  Hugs and prayers for you and DS.
I am glad you got the misty rain.  I remember you posting about your garden...so rain is a must.

Sheila, you are so right to guard your words...it is a fine line to know when to speak up to your DDs.  I have learned that compliments and good news are what they want to hear. Once the baby arrives, there may be more things to talk about - as long as you don't try to give adivce.   I hope you have a wonderful week end!

My first grandson couldn't say "grandma" so his "mamaw" has stuck for the next 6 grandkids.  He couldn't say grandpa so DH is "popy".  However, the 2 in CT have a "grandma rose" so they started calling me "grandma Joan" .  My difficult son-in-law in DC heard this discrepancy and said "hey, can we all get on the same page with this?"
Ridiculous, because I know who I am to each kid and I don't mind.  I don't remember every hearing such goings on as have been described here in claiming grandparent names!
My grandkids in MA have a Mimi and Boppa and and in DC they have a Nana.  It just seemed to work out.

Ahhhh Friday ... am at work....nobody but me here so easy day...better get something to do here.
Enjoy the thaw, if you are in the NE.
