I'm feeling pretty badly. I have had a fever for three days. I think it's the flu. My DH comes home tonight and I'm so glad. I don't even have the energy to cook food for myself. I'm completely exhausted. Thanks for thinking of me ladies. I hope you are all doing well.
-
Dear Rocket, hope you feel better soon! Take care and rest!! May You All have a Blessed weekend. Tenaj, hey, hon, go ahead and bake, enjoy and stay safe.
-
Rocket, are you feeling better?
I've had a bad food day today but I have been exercising:-). Now to just do both for a week!
-
Hi, Rocket, Tammy, and Janet!! Thanks for all your well wishes and prayers! My onc called me and said the Pet scan showed a few issues to follow up on, some enlarged lymph nodes, but no definite evidence of cancer! I follow up in 3 months!!! Thanks again, hope everyone s staying safe and warm!! I also had a bad food weekend, but I did exercise too!!! Have a wondeful week!!!
-
Kathy, I'm so sorry you have to deal with this. With everything you've (all of us here) been through, worrying seems to take up much of our thoughts. But worrying doesn't help, so remain strong & positive. I know that it is so much easier to say......but use your strengths....your family, friends & love of God. We are here to support you! Food helps us feel better, treat yourself....but get back on track because you will feel better if you do all you can to be in great shape!
Rocket, I hope you're feeling better by now. This is such a rough time of year with all the flu's & viruses going around.
Hi Tammy, I hope you are still liking your job. Your doing great with exercising!! I need to kick mine up a bit. I've been cranking the music up & doing my own routines with weights & dancing about the house.
I am preparing for yet another surgery at the end of the week. At least this time it is not related to BC! I was told about 5 years ago that I had the beginnings of cataracts...I thought it was old peoples ailments...but apparently not. I am 54 but am looking forward to seeing better & driving at night. If all goes well the other eye is scheduled 2/13. The good news is I won't be wearing glasses for my daughter's wedding!!
Have a great week all, happy healthy eating!
((((Hugs))) Janet
-
Hi, Janet!! Thank you so much for your well wishes and encouragement!! My onc said she is not worried at all and that Pet scans are very sensitive! The fact that she does not want to see me for 3 months is so encouraging!!!! I am not too worried, truly I know Our Lord is in control!! I am giving it to Him!! We are headed to San Francisco this weekend and then Hawaii on February 9th!!!
You will be in my thoughts and prayers for your upcoming cataract surgery!! When is your daughter 's wedding again!! You have so much to look forward to!!! Enjoy every minute!!!
I did the elyptical and stationary bike today, ate better than yesterday, and took a long walk!!! Thanks again!!! Hugs, Kathy
-
thanks Kathy! You are strong & positive, such an inspiration in so many ways!!
How exciting for your upcoming trip to Hawaii. It's one of those places on my list to go...I kook forward to hearing all about it. The wedding in Boston is May 3rd. We are planning a family party on Long Island for sometime in June. Tomorrow I'm visiting a venue that may be possible. Long story short...this a change from where we were planning so we shall see. I'm working with her mother in law to be so things have not been as simple as I would like. I'll keep you posted!
-
Thank you, Janet, for your kind words!!! You will do a great job planning the wedding!!! Is it a small wedding? We planned our first son's and DIL's wedding in just 3 weeks, it worked out great!! There was not a lot of prep time, so the decisions were easier!! I know it is hard to work with others sometimes, but you are so sweet and easy going, it will be fine!!! It will be here before you know it!!! Hugs!! Kathy
-
Kathy, good news about your scan....and it seems you are back on track with eating and exercise!
Janet, best wishes for the surgery....and I see that we are the same age:-)
I am still enjoying the job and there is certainly plenty to do so it is keeping me out of trouble :-)
-
Thank you so much, Tammy!! Have a great week and so glad that you enjoy your job!! I am officially the oldest here, I am 61, but very immature, he,he,he!!!
-
Young at heart!!! 61 is the new 41.... Lol
-
Yes, Janet, absolutely!!!!!!

Hey Gals,
Still sick! I went to the doctor yesterday because I thought I might have pleurisy or a cracked rib from coughing. X-rays were thankfully negative for both, so the diagnosis is costochondritis. It is extremely painful when breathe! sneeze, blow my nose or cough. Doctor gave me Vicodin for pain and Phenergan for nausea caused by Vicodin. I really hate heavy painkillers. He wanted to make sure that I could cough and clear my lungs so I don't get pneumonia. Took three doses yesterday which included one in the middle of the night. This morning I awoke feeling a bit better, so took four Advil instead for the pain. I have had costochondritis many times in the past following upper respiratory illness, but I've never experienced pain that severe from it. So needless to say, I have been a serious couch potato lately. I told my DH that I am so frustrated with either being laid up with a broken toe, and just after that's healed and I start exercising, I get the flu. I just want to be healthy and have some energy again!
Kathy, my onc told me that PET scans are very sensitive and will show simple inflammation anywhere in your body too. She said an MRI is the best way to go if there is an area in question. I agree that if she is not concerned, you shouldn't be either. I know it is much easier said than done. I am a worry wart, and just having a chest x-Ray yesterday about put me over the edge until I got the result. I am going to continue to pray that it is nothing concerning. You are going to have a ball in Hawaii. My DH and I went there about 5 years ago. It was gorgeous. We stayed on Oahu and had the best time!
Tenaj, I will pray that your surgery goes well and you recover easily. I am 53, but will be 54 in August. I know you must be excited about the wedding. It should be beautiful in Boston in May.
Tammy it is a wonderful thing to enjoy your work. What a blessing! I hope you are doing well.
Take good care Ladies. You are all very special to me.
-
Dear Rocket, you have had such a challenging few months!! Your toe and now costochrondritis!!! You are in my prayers for healing and relief of pain!!! You have the patience of Job!!! Get better soon and rest!!!
-
Rocket, sorry to read that you have been so ill. Take it easy, you have plenty of time to get back in shape when you're better (but I would be frustrated too if I were you)....
-
good morning ladies! Rocket I hope you are feeling better. You got hit hard with this. Make sure sure you are taking vitamins, (multi, some B complex, vit c ) they do help to boost your immune system, & lots of fluids & rest.
I had my 1st cataract surgery on Thursday & all is good so far. Lots of drops & no lifting for a few days. My DH is taking good care of me & fortunately I don't return to work until next Thursday. The other eye is scheduled 2/13. This is very exciting that I won't have to wear glasses for distance anymore. Just for reading. I have been dealing with 2 pairs (because they couldn't combine them) which has been very frustrating. After all the surgeries I've had in the past 2 1/2 yrs this was a breeze!
We went to see the other venue for my daughter early last week & are waiting for approval from the board, but it looks very positive. We find out the 2nd week in February. (Kathy, while you are enjoying your vacation in Hawaii) it's a country club on the water, but will be a informal party. Renting the downstairs with a tent outside & use of the beach.
Tammy, have a great weekend!
-
Janet, the venue sounds lovely! Good news about the surgery....enjoy being taken care of and the little rest from work
I have just found out about the link between breast cancer and diabetes. My Mother was a diabetic so I suppose I will be at risk. I plan to see my Doctor to investigate....another reason to keep my weight under control and to exercise!
(((Hugs))) everyone
-
Janet, so glad that your cataract surgery went well, you are almost done!! You will be in my thoughts and prayers for your next one!! The country club on the water sounds beautiful!!
Ate alot this weekend, but it was fun!! Back on track today!! Tammy, I always have to watch my blood sugar, when my weight goes up, so does my blood sugar!! I have not been put on any medicine yet, but I have to stay focused as well!!!
Enjoy your Sunday!!
-
Great to hear that your surgery went well Janet. I am slowly recovering. I have an insanely busy week this week and my DH will be out of town with work. He will return on Friday evening and leave again next Monday for another week away. He also travels the entire last week of February. After that his traveling should be done for the year. It just makes for a really difficult month. I will get through it however with God's help. Right now I have needed to take a cat nap each day just to make it through the day. I am still coughing and quite fatigued. I think that is an unfortunate side effect of the flu. I quit taking the Vicodin, but now have diarrhea as a result of coming off of it. I can't figure out what to eat. My appetite has returned, but eating anything with fiber has been very problematic. I guess I'll just have to stick with a very simple, bland diet for a few days. I hope to be exercising again by week's end.
I am thankful for friends like you who never fail to encourage me. I hope you all have a wonderful week!
Rocky
-
Dear Rocket! I wish I could give you a hug in person, and bring over a big pot of chicken noodle soup. Please rest and drink a lot of fluids! You are in my thoughts and prayers! Blessings, Kathy
-
glad to hear your feeling a bit better Rocket. White rice & bananas will help with the diarrhea. Plenty of fluids to prevent dehydration. And rest rest rest when you can...
Another very snowy day here. Heavy wet snow this time. I had to cancel my appt with the eye MD. I go tomorrow, they will check me & remove the "contact bandaid" from my eye. Crazy right??? Also getting me ready for the next eye...all good so far, just a bit weird with different visions in each eye...
-
Dear Janet, sorry to hear about your weather and that you had to cancel your appointment!! I am sure that you just want to get the eye surgeries done!! It so amazing what cataract surgery can do!! I remember my mom, who was very nearsighted, had the surgery and never had to wear her strong glasses again!! Stay warm and safe, and I will be thinking of you as you await your next surgery!!! Hugs, Kathy
-
hi ladies , hope you are all doing well....Enjoying life & taking good care of yourself!
I went back to work today & made it through. It's a challenge dealing with the dual vision thing...but managed. I'm maintaining the weight loss of 4 lbs since Christmas, but at a stand still for now. I really need to get back on my bike.....can't wait for the weather to break.... We have had sooooo much snow & acceptionally cold temperatures!!
Enjoy your trip Kathy, look forward to hearing about your vacation!
hi Rocket & Tammy
-
Hi, Tenaj!! Hope that your vision improves each day!! I know you have been dealing with inclement weather!! It is hard to get motivated yo exercise, Spring will come!! That is great that you have maintained a 4 lb weight loss! I have gained a few lbs, and will try to exercise on our trip and eat lots of fruit there!! Thank you so much for your well wishes!!! Be safe and stay warm!! Hugs to you, Tammy and Rocket!!!
-
Well everyone, I have had a "moment of truth"....I got on the scales today and my weight had gone up....again....no more excuses....back to Weight Watchers next week....
I hope you are all travelling better (((hugs)))
-
Tammy, I know that feeling. I eventually went on the scale after Christmas & to my dismay & had gained everything I lost in the prior year PLUS more! I was suppose to be getting ready for the weddings! Circumstances of health problems (my severe allergic reaction, lots of prednisone & other medications) joint pain, side effects from all the other meds! Menopause! Too much to list.....but I'm not giving up! I am down 4-5 lbs since Christmas. I really would like to loose 30lbs & see a weight I haven't seen in decades! Lol......I continue to keep my much improved eating habbits. I need to ramp up the exercise, just so difficult in the winter here. Hang in there! We can do this!
(((Hugs))) Janet
-
Woo hoo Janet, you're an inspiration!
-
Hi ladies, hope all is well. So much snow here & today we are getting more!! I had my other eye done 2/13 in the midst of a treacherous snow storm. I was glad they didn't cancel & our 4x4 handled it well. I'm home resting trying not to give into my hunger & cravings!! Looks like we may see 40 degree temps late next week, it's going to feel like a heat wave! Looking forward to spring & getting outside without so many layers of clothes. Stay warm & well dear ladies.
(((Hugs))) janet
-
Dear Janet! So glad you were able to have your other eye surgery done, but sorry to hear about your weather!! Praying and hoping that the warmer weather coming will be the beginning of Spring for you all!!! Yes, rest and relax this weekend!! Hooray, that your surgeries are done!!! Enjoy some comfort food, you deserve it!!!
We have been walking a lot here and completed another bucket list item, we climbed to the crater of Diamond Head!! It was a strenuous walk but it felt good after we were done!!! I feel guilty telling you all about this, wishing you were all here to enjoy the weather with us!! It is raining here today, and we fly home tomorrow!! We only rented a car here for one day, so we walked everywhere!! We tried to eat as healthy as we could. The fruit here is amazing and shaved ice is very popular!!! Hi, Rocket and Tammy!! Hugs to you all!! Have a great weekend!!!
-
Kathy so glad to hear your having a good time! Don't be sorry, I've been thinking about you all week! Wondering what sites you might be seeing. Get home safely :-)
