Tampa area BCO sisters get togethers

I should be able to do the 22nd of Feb. Typically, we've done 11:30 so that we sort of beat the lunch crowd. Personally, I like that time if it is good for everyone else on a Saturday. If we did a Sunday, I could still do close to that time, but might be a little late due to church.
Jenny, I live in Temple Terrace; so, we could always carpool if needed or whatever.
-
Typically we meet up about 11am if I'm correct. We do though tend to linger a long time and have been there until 3pm more than once. Let's see what the masses want. Personally, I'm open about the time.
-
I'm just a lazy slug. I don't function much before 11. But I do have OnStar, so might not get lost.
-
Any time is fine with me.
-
Coming from Fort Myers may be a little late if meeting at 11:30. Whatever works for everyone else..... I am flexible!!!
-
Togetherness I'm in Punta Gorda is maybe we could car pool!
-
Should we plan for Noon then?
-
Hello and welcome to those considering joining us! The 22nd of Feb. works for me, 1:00 is also good.
I hope everyone recovers from this messy flu-cold-sinus- muck stuff and returns to health!
Anyone hear from Ameron, pls PM me, okay?

noon works for me. Are we agreed on Feb 22?
-
Noon on February 22 works for me (probably--my life is always a little uncertain!)
-
Kira that sounds good. I would luv to carpool. The only thing I have some friends coming down from up north and staying in Orlando so I maybe going over to see them after the get together in Tampa. I should know for sure in a few weeks when they will be down for sure. Will keep you posted!!
-
I'm good for lunch on the 22nd at any time. Do you guys meet at the Cheese Cake Factory in Brandon or International Plaza
-
int plaza
-
I hope to be able to come and see everyone! I am penciling it in my calendar, however I can not be sure I'll make it until closer to the date. Many challenges at the moment. Count me as a maybe, I will try to make it.
-
I think we need TWO gatherings. DLL66, what are your days off?
Based on the response, we are definitely on for February 22. Please check the header for the list of people who responded to make sure I have the listing correct, based on the current responses.
As to time, we normally got together at 11:30 to allow have us all settled prior to the larger rush. The restaurant opens at 11am. An 11:30 reservation time helped make certain our requested table size was set up and waiting, and more importantly the requested location was accommodated.
-
Where is the header to check the list of people?
-
Mary, at the top of this thread. It has a blue-ish background. Nancy has nicely updated it for the date/time/location and those who have so far indicated they will attend.
-
We could always consider planning one for a Ladies Night at Timpanos in Hyde Park on a Tuesday evening, even if on a small scale basis.
-
At the moment, Sundays are my only day off. If I can get my new hire up to speed in a month or so I will be able to take off Wednesday or Thursday as well. The first time my employer offered me the store manager position, I had completed chemo number 3 of 8 & I wisely turned it down. I am feeling fortunate that I am able to carry the workload now.
-
No matter what, our health is far more important than a get-together!
-
darn! I saw the date and thought " I'm going to go this time!" And then realized its the weekend of the C4YW ( YOung Survival Coaltion annual conference) in Orlando.. I've already committed to attend.
BTW any other Florida gals into Pink Dragonboating?? Tampas got a team ( the Pink Dragon Ladies"and I'm on the newly formed Sarasota team "Survivors in Sync"... Fabulous sport for us BC gals.
I'll check back for future gatherings
Have fun!
Marcia

Hey SpecialK - I was going to ask if any have heard from you, and will you be joining us on Feb 22?
I have just realized several hours ago that I have lymphedema, perhaps in my entire left arm and hand. There have been subtle symptoms that have come and gone over the past few weeks. I haven't seen obvious swelling but my forearm has had some soreness on the inner side, which I especially noticed at yoga class today when reaching over my head -- it felt like it was stretching underneath the skin. Later in the evening I noticed some pitting edema inside the elbow joint -- totally new development, and I hope yoga didn't cause it or aggravate it. Yikes. Also my ring is tighter even though I can't see obvious swelling. I know I need to get this looked at ASAP.
So...I want to ask you all this. I know a couple of you have lymphedema. Do you have (or know of) a good lymphedema therapist? I was sent to a PT at Watson Clinic in Lakeland for prevention 2 years ago and arm PT last year, but her name doesn't come up on the searches at NLN or LANA, although she said she was "certified" somehow. I couldn't find any certified lymphedema therapist very near me. Ideas?
-
ann - sorry - have been a bit MIA, I have a good friend who is newly diagnosed and have been going to appointments with her. I am not sure about the get together on the 22nd - I may be out of town, not sure yet. On the lymphedema front, I know that Florida Hospital Tampa has certified therapists. I was treated at Moffitt for LE, a number of their therapists are certified. St. Joe's also has a LE folks. I am not sure about closer to you though. Here are some links:

Here is some Lakeland info, click on the thing for the flyer - it shows the credentials for their therapists.

-
Ann, I went to a therapist in Largo. Is that close to you? My RO recommended her. Maybe you could check with your doctor.
-
SpecialK - thanks for the links. I dropped in at that LRMC rehab place this morning since it is close to home, and it was, oh so-so, maybe not better than Watson Clinic, but I asked some questions. I was looking for an alternative to Watson, but I may just stick around since they have my previous records. I also dropped by my PCP's office (non-Watson) for a referral and the receptionist couldn't spell lymphedema, and made me a Fri appointment with a different doctor than my own. I'll cancel if I can find another referral. I don't see my BS anymore, since I had a PS and then went to NOLA.
Mary - Largo, hmm. Because you said your RO made the recommendation, I called my RO's office and they wouldn't tell me anything, saying they aren't following me any more and that lymphedema is from removal of lymph nodes, not radiation (ha, they always seem to disown any problems even though radiation contributes), so I had to call my MO's office. At least they may refer me without an unnecessary doc visit so I can get to therapy sooner. Well, after they get insurance approval!!!!
Don't you just love tracking down this kind of stuff. Will I have a sleeve at Cheesecake Factory on Feb 22? Standby...
-
ann - I got a prescription from my MO to be seen at Moffitt - that was all they needed, they procured the insurance info on their own.
-
Yeah, Watson rehab will take care of getting insurance approval, but I may have to wait a bit to get the go-ahead to be sure they will pay. Moffitt is now out of network for me, so it would cost more. I am hoping to have just a few visits to measure for sleeve, review manual lymphatic drainage technique, check sleeve fit when it arrives, and occasional follow-up with no further drama.
I hope to hear from them tomorrow and be seen this week, but more likely they will schedule me for next week since this week is disappearing fast.
I hope you can make it to the get-together, SpecialK, and others we haven't heard from yet!
-
ann - Moffitt dictated the compression level, but I went to West Coast Brace and Limb for the sleeve ordering and fitting. I am not sure whether most rehab locations actually supply the sleeves and glove/gauntlets themselves, or order them. I did the same procedure, obtained a prescription, took the compression info from Moffitt, and made an appointment with West Coast. It took about two weeks to get the sleeve/gauntlets - I paid up front for the first bi-lat set, but then determined the correct code for insurance reimbursement and West Coast billed for my second set and received full payment. Don't go to Mark Stewart by Morton Plant! I was very unhappy with him.
