2013 Running Thread

Okay - I'll try to set something up. I have no idea how to forward this discussion to that one, so if someone could please do that it would help. Gold, I'm sorry you are sick. Blech. I have no exciting runs to report. It is snowing here today and I was grateful for a warm gym and a working treadmill. It is supposed to get much colder as the week progresses, so I anticipate more treadmill runs. The gym I belong to is opening a new indoor pool soon, so I might start pool running again.
I am coming up on the one year anniversary of my DCIS diagnosis. It's kind of a weird place to be I have to admit. I'm not sure how to mark the occasion...maybe a run with friends and extra whipped cream on a hot cocoa afterwards.
I'll get that thread started soon.

Extra whipped cream is a great idea! Today's the anniversary of my biopsy. The radiologist said she was pretty sure it was cancer, but I had to wait two more days for the confirmation. Such a year. Lovestorun, good anniversary to you too and thanks so much for offering to manage the thread.

Love, I believe all you would have to do is copy and paste the link above in the box that shows your website information.
I do not know the official name of said "box".

Thanks so much Piper!
All, as it's 2014, there's no a new 2014 running thread. It can be found here:

Hi cancer runners...
I've been thinking of starting a thread for running through chemo. Before starting chemo I ran (so to speak) into negativity from the medical world about it. When I found this thread I felt bolstered, but the majority of posters had not gone through chemo. To be honest, some days I got a little depressed when I scrolled through this thread and saw that most seem to be stage 0 or stage 1.
I'm not on BCO that much and have never started a thread, so I guess I'm looking for some advice or help with this. Is it a good idea? Or should I start something for stage 3 runners? I don't go to the stage 3 board much as it's a bit overwhelming. I find the running section draws people with the kind of positive and proactive energy that fuels my own optimism... and I only really have time/desire to be involved in one or two threads.
Thanks in advance for any thoughts on this!

Hi alaskamama--Point taken--there might be a disproportionate number of low-stage people on this board. I think a Running through chemo thread would be excellent and you'd find lots of interest. Meanwhile, the 2013 thread has migrated to 2014--see link in lovestorun's message above yours. We're all over there now and we'd love to hear from you! I've been a fan since I saw your blog over the summer.

I think running through chemo would be great. I did running though chemo until chemo#3 when I got the flu. Some of my doctors encouragement to run in chemo others did not. When I got the flu I could had to rest.

I was running through chemo for the first week until my WBC dropped dangerously low and I had a fever. I do plan to get out there again. The trails have too much snow. I'm restricted from the gym until my WBCs go back up. And so, for now, I am running stairs and circles in my house. BTW, I posted this on another thread but it works well here too. Enjoy.

Alaskamamma.. i ran through chemo.. until after the last AC and then had a huge acute flare up of Sarcoidosis so for about 5 weeks i couldnt get out of bed . i dont think the issue is what stage .. chemo is chemo and really depends on the drug being used in terms of side effects and also the amount of drug. i was on a dose dense schedule and it was tough but i was running. taxol makes it impossible for some to run.
i think if someone is already a runner they should try to keep running through chemo but as we know there are many things that can crop up during chemo that may prevent it.
Im so fed up of the cold weather.. running on a treadmill day after day is driving me crazy. i try to get outside when possible but between temps and ice and snow under foot its been difficult.

Another reminder that we're over on the 2014 thread now!
(hope that link works)
