    Hey All,

Work and health issues have kept me off the boards. Sorry I have been negligent in posting.

It has been a year. Wow, how time flies. Life has been crazy for me. I had a hysterectomy in September, pneumonia in January, and now thought I was finally having the exchange surgery but...I have to have another set of expanders. I just found out that my skin was soooo thin at mastectomy time that I had to have serratus muscle used to hold in the expanders. The serratus muscle pushed everything to the sides, and now the PS wants to dissect the muscle away from the skin, place tear drop shaped expanders, fill them pretty full, and then do a fill schedule. 6 weeks after the last fill, we can plan exchange surgery. I will have drains this time as well...this really sucks! If this does not work, they are talking a muscle flap...I hope not.

    longislandmom--no worries--you'll be all clear.

Lisamarie---I'm glad you like you new "girls".

I wish I felt like celebrating, but I feel like I'm starting all over again.

    Take care,

    Nancy

I am going Tuesday for a consult on my Oophorectomy. I will get that at the same time as my exchange next month. Starting to get nervous all over again about another surgery. Can anyone who has had an Oophorectomy tell me how it was? I am not as nervous about the pain from the exchange because she said no dam drain tubes this time. I am a little nervous about how they will look though. I have had the dam TE's for over a yr and I am used to them and I know she has to go a little smaller.

    Dianarose,

No worries about the oophorectomy. They should be doing it laparoscopically....the biggest issue for me was gas pain with my laparoscopic hysterectomy. Make sure you get up and walk ASAP after the surgery and take a suppository so that you can get the plumbing working again.

Don't feel badly about still having your TEs. I'm on my 2nd set, and now I have an infection. Taking antibiotics, but to no avail.

In my next life, I'm coming back as a man...no uterus, no boobs, no childbearing, and I won't be carrying a purse!!!

ndroby- I am packing some gas-X when I go to the hospital. Why are you on your 2nd set of TE's? I haven't had any issues with them other than they totally suck to sleep with and pull at my skin. I am with you as coming back as a man. They have it made. Women find them attractive even when they are bald. Doesn't quite work that way for a woman. Even when men have the salt and pepper hair it works for them. NO periods EVER, no Menopause, no hot flashes, instead a sports car. Even their shoes are designed for comfort. Jerks.....

Well Wednesday will be here before I know it. Feel free to hop in my pocket. Surgery is at 8:15. I am glad it's early. I will miss my morning coffee. Dam.... They said not even water. How the hell am I supposed to swallow a Xanax without water???

    Dianarose,

I was supposed to have exchange surgery in April, but...the original expanders were held in by chest wall muscle b/c my skin is so thin. This pushed everything to the side as it healed, and cosmetically they were unattractive. I had armpit boobies. Those expanders were removed and replaced with a teardrop shaped expander that will allow me to have the new 410 gummies. I have no idea when that will happen.

    Timeline for me has been:

    PBMX 4/2012

    Lap hysterectomy with oophorectomy 9/2012

    left lung pneumonia 1/2013

had to wait 3 months to have anesthesia after that

    Revision of tissue expanders 4/2013

    Infection now....

Who knows what will happen. This really bites.

I just want to know how Angelina Jolie had her surgery so fast and she's done??? my husband says "$1,000,000.00 cash paid to the surgeon".

Be ready for flash menopause. Hot flashes suck. I am using a Vivelle Dot estrogen patch. No uterus, no breasts, no problem! Some of the low dose antidepressants work on making them less of a bother---Effexor and one other that I cannot think of right now. I LOVE the patch!

You can take the Xanax with a sip of water. You are in my thoughts and prayers. Post on the boards when you are up to it.

ndroby- wow, you have had a tough time. I hope the infection gets better soon. I was put into menopause by 3rd week of chemo. If my hot flashes get any worse I will burst out in flames. I can't take anything with estrogen as my cancer was highly dependent on the stuff. I am going to have that sip of water or maybe black coffee to was the xanax down. I'm not doing this cold turkey. I am old and have absolutely nothing to prove.

    Talk to you all soon.

Lisamarie- how did you make out with your car??

i haven't checked in for a while. just saw your post, Dianarose...UGH!  so sorry about your path report.  will keep you in my prayers.  Glad you got your ovaries removed and they were able to get it out.  Praying that's the end of it for you.

All OK with me.  am likely going to have another surgery after the summer to fix some cosmetic issues with my implants.  I have a lot of rippling and am going to have some fat grafting and perhaps swap implants.  going for another PS consult in the next couple of weeks, when i can get my act together.

    xxoo to all.

It has been a really long time since I have posted here, but I am feeling so healed and better lately, I wanted to update.

I am a frustrated writer, just too lazy really. It has been almost 2 years since I began this journey, it is the end of the year and my birthday was yesterday. Made my thinking very reflect, so anyway, I thought I would put together a sound track for my journey with BC.

Opening with being asked to come back for a 2nd mamo and then scheduling a biopsy. - Why by Annie Lennox

On to after the biopsy waiting for results - I Need You Now by Lady Antebellum - (I did not sleep much during that time and husband and friends were woken on may occasions)

After the diagnosis and waiting to see the surgeon - Walking on Broken Glass  by Annie Lennox

During the discussions with the surgeons - mastectomy - The Winner Takes it All - AbbA

The healing process following the 3 surgeries - Stronger  by Kelly Clarkson

Now after 1 full year of healing and getting used to the new normal - Roar by Katy Perry

I have put these songs on a playlist and play them when I am feeling a bit overwhelmed and it helps me. Makes me remember how I felt and how theln and how I feel now (both physically and mentally.)

Coping with the new normal is probably harder than anything I have ever done and often need to be reminded of what I have been through and the new normal starts to feel better.

It looks like I will be dealing with Lymphedema and I will see if I need to update the soundtrack but this is it for now.

Mine are cold all the time, but I still get erect nipples. This freaked out my PS!! We thought I lost the left nipple, but it ended up just being the skin pigment. I will have tattooing February 6!

ndroby, I did not want to take any chances so I did not do any nipple sparring at all ... so I have none ,,, just scars and cold implants ...
