pipers- baby still at sis house. Still not better! But I have to say she will be better Thursday or Friday and we can go get her I have to go get her!!!! I can't take it anymore and now that the doctor said I can hold her it is killing me to not have her home! Collarbone node will be decided on Wednesday with all the understands all is the doctor told me it was suspicious and I said so we won't know and she just looked at me and said well it is suspicious cells so we know what that means it's another positive. It is about 2 to 3 inches below my collarbone that so still not in a horrible place:)
Do y'all had a chemo plan yet from your doctors? If my scans come out clear I start Wednesday 12 weeks of taxol weekly. Then FAC 4 times every 3 weeks. However that is if scans are clear which I am so scared I know you all are too! I have two days Wednesday basically 1230 that's my appointment with the surgeon and I am scared to death and just waiting for something positive. please just something everything every time It just seems like it's something else! Nothing more right !
2014 the year all our cancer is gone and we are clean lol! Just ready to get it started so it can end!!
Just keep swimming:) -
Hi Jodi, my goodness what a lot you are dating right now. Like you said Just Keep Swimming.
At this point, I'm not looking at chemo for two reasons. 1 - I'm 56 and post menopausal so I shouldn't have problems with hormones. 2 - I still don't have ANY results. Waaaa. I got my biopsy results pretty quick but won't know if they got clear margins or what happened with the SNB until Thursday. I do know I'm a definate for rads. He already told me after the biopsy they will start in Jan.
Sorry I wasn't more help with your question. Hope u sleep well tonight.
Hugs'n'kisses

I had this pop into my head the other day: "I'm looking forward to putting this behind me." I know you guys are too. Another teacher at our school just got dx'ed with colon cancer and though I don't know her well, it upset me and now we have our own support group. She will have to have a colostomy bag for the rest of her life and I'm grateful I won't have that. Ours is a very small school and now some of our kids who were upset about my dx are having to process this all over again with her.
-
just had my surgery yesterday. Leaving hospital today.
Had two nodes positive and possible chemo.....
-
Glad to hear you came through all right June. Stay comfortable and do everything your doc says. Mine is scheduled for Jan. 26--I just found out today.
-
June- glad surgery went well! I know you are upset about the nodes but, two isn't that bad! Get that chemo and take it all down!
I personally just had the darkest 48 hours ever. Wednesday back at MDA they said the lymph node on my mid chest was positive- eh figured that so I wasn't surprised. Then they say that my right femur was "unspecified" and I needed more images. And that would be next week. Luckily my DH got them to scheduled the X-rays for Thursday. So, we go down the dark hole called google and I was basically a basketcase Wed - Friday until the NP called and said that there was no cancer no fracture in the femur. I cried, my mom, sisiters, friends etc. Tears of relief, tears of joy. I had 48 hours of wondering how many more holidays would I have with girls! And crying because the baby just turned 1 ten days ago. Today was my dad's birthday and I got the greatest news of my life! A chance- no not a chance ! A first class ticket to kicking cancer ass and after that 48 hours of hell I am ready!
I started chemo Wednesday and it went very well! My plan is 12 weekly taxol and then 4 FAC every 3 weeks then radiation under arm and chest were nodes all were. I only had an upset tummy at 5 a.m. Basically 12 hours after my treatment. But as life would have if I started my cycle once I got back to my hotel room lol! Remember I started the day before my Dmx lol!! Really? It is just comically! So, I had 3 scoops of chocolate ice cream when in I got back too. The ice cream might have no been smart since they warned about cramps and diarrhea. Oh well- next time live and learn!
I will be checking in often here! pipers best of luck! Don't google anything;).
-
"A first class ticket to kicking cancer ass and after that 48 hours of hell I am ready!" Jodi, you go girl! You are going to see that baby graduate! And with an attitude like that, you will win.
Glad you can laugh about your period--I was so so so so pissed when I found out I'd just started 10 min after my dx. The good news is I haven't had one since (more than a week late now!) but that last one was bad and really heavy. I'm hoping the iodine I'm taking will shrink up some of these fibroids.
June when you're up to it, let us know how you're feeling.
Red, I'd like to hear more about your decision to not use chemo. If you don't want to put it here you can DM me. Are you using any supplements instead of chemo?
-
I am ordering underhair from www.hatswithhair.com You can wear any type of hat and they say most insurances are accepted. I got a sassy bobbed wig too, but my hair is long. So I know it will be nice to have the longer choice! Just in case anyone is looking for hair choices. I know I will be a wig girl. Some are scarves only. Just thought I'd pass that along.
-
hi everyone,
Thanks for your warm wishes...I am doing fine. Sis has been taking care of me.
I think I finally stopped peeing green. It kind of freaked me out a little when I saw green. The drains are annoying and I hope the doc will remove them on the next visit. It wasn't as bad as I thought. My arm can still move but not too high or lift anything even a cup.
Red, pls share your no chemo decision. I want to know. It does sound not everyone can tolerate chemo...heard some had a hard time to go thru.
-
piper - I will be praying for you.
-
Pipers and June, I am menopausal, not pre or post. It makes a difference for me because of my hormone levels. I also had clear margins to 6mm and 0 of 7 nodes. Another thing that is different. They are also pushing rads first, chemo second.
So, I'm having the rads and the oncotype, I will also have my genetic markers done, but they will have to show me some definite reason to go for chemo after all that. I don't want to do it as a 'just in case'. I will listen carefully, and I have a couple months to do more research before I have to give an answer. I may change my mind after that, but right now, given all of the above, I am thinking no.
It is not the right decision for everyone and I have several factors in my favor for this decision that don't apply to you because of your ages and dx.
Hey June - I peed bright blue for two days and they say the blue dye in my boob will last for 10 months. So I'm calling her Smurfette now. How long till the Appt when you may get the drains out?
Jodi, what a rough two days that must have been! I am so glad they found none in the bone. That's super. You kick that cancer's butt girl! Pipers' right, you have a great attitude!
Pipers, why is it all taking so long for you? You had to wait for biopsy and now a month for the op? What's up with that? All in all, you seem to be taking this all very well. I found waiting harder than anything else though.
Better get started on Sunday dinner or we'll be eating at 8. Hugs'n'kisses to all.
-
So what's with the blue? Is that where they test your SN's? Do they do that when you're under? I hope so--i've heard it hurts really bad.
LOL about how you're so much older Red--I'm 54 so you've got 2 years on me. It's just I'm in a really late menopause and only my last 2-3 periods have been late--they were regular as clockwork before. I am doing the iodine protocol and have some DIM ordered, which is supposed to nudge my body over into a healthier hormone mix--both are supposed to shrink fibroids and balance hormones and the iodine will help balance all hormones, not just estrogen.
It's true that everything is taking forever but I've got a great BS/PS team lined up and if they're not excited I'm not going to be either and this will give the iodine, DIM, and other supplements a chance to kick in if they're going to. Then off with the boobs and we'll see from there. MO appt tomorrow morning. My boobs hurt so much right now from premenstrualness that I think it will be a relief to lose them and I sure wish I'd known about iodine fixing that before I got BC.
-
Yes Pipers, the blue pee was from the dye to trace the path of the lymph nodes from cancer outwards. And it didn't hurt a bit. My nurse navigator recommended Emla cream. You have to ask for it over the counter. It's a topical anesthetic. I'm really scared of needles and the thought of one in my nipple (eww) while awake was really scary for me. So it has 2 applications in the box and each covers about 2"x2 1/2". I put one on the nipple (for the radioactive stuff needle) and one where I figured the would put the wire and it really helped. The dye itself when in when I was under.
I was guessing your age from your avatar in which you look like you're in your thirties. You hide your age well lady!!! Would never have guessed 50 anything.
I'm glad you're so happy with your team, and like you said, if the extended time give your meds time to kick in, all the better. You have a great outlook on it.
Well, off to bed for me. Have a nice night.
-
Dangit I posted a reply and it's gone. I meant to say bless you for that Red but I was sitting in such a way that the wrinkles fell out of my face momentarily. I try to sit like that often lol. I will get me a tube of Emla.
Went to the MO today and feel much better. They were talking about chemo before surgery but he says after and I hope not at all. He didn't think my breast looked all that bad--said he expected it to be much worse from the report but he couldn't see any dimpling and for sure I can't see it as much as I did at first either. I could have some swelling though. Anyway, I really liked this guy too, though me and my friend were laughing b/c he kept looking at her as he talked and it's like he couldn't keep his eyes off her and it was strange b/c I was sitting on the complete other side of the exam room and he was talking to her like she was me. We decided that he was so intimidated by my awesome breasts that he couldn't look me in the eye. Oh yes and now the BS and MO can't agree on the stage--BS says stage III and MO says probably a II. Hmmm. Maybe my iodine is working already?
June, how are you doing over there? Sis taking good care of you?
-
red - thanking for explaining...
piper - i am doing fine. the doc was impressed how nicely my incision has healed. thanks to my dear sis. and i got the report. stage 3. i think it's 3a. because the tumor size is larger than 6cm with 2 nodes positive marco. met with the oncologist already and she's very positive about my treatment. will start my treatment in a month and ordered the pet scan for this friday.

Merry Christmas to all and to all, a good night!
Not even going to think about Bc for the next 2 days.
-
Happy Holydays girls! Try to keep your spirits up though I know it is difficult right now. Above all, milk this thing for all it's worth and let yourself be waited on hand and foot and send the little darlings out to run your errands! Make your husband rub your back and feet and whatever else you like. When else do you get an opportunity like this?
-
happy holidays!! I'll try my best to enjoy the time with my sis
-
Merry Christmas to you all and to your families. Have a great day! Hope Santa was good to you.
-
And Jodi? I hope all is well and baby is fine? We want pictures of the hat hair. I have two caps knitted.
-
Merry Christmas!! Sorry didn't post yesterday, but Santa and 3 girls had my house crazy;).
I will figure out how to post a pic of Lulu in that hat! I bought it off etsy months back! Really was so cute.
It sounds like we all are on our way to mapping out being cancer free in 2014! I am on my way to MD Anderson right now for round 2 of taxol tomorrow. Last week was good. I got a sore throat and felt flu like on the third day. Not sure if that was taxol or just southern allergies really!! This week will tell.
Monday, my oldest, Emery and I went to go get our hair cut. I had very long hair. It stopped right under where bra strap meets on your back. Emery's was longer. I cut 14 inches to have a boy hair do;) Emery had a above shoulder bob and cut 12 inches. Sending the hair off the Pantene to make wigs for some other people facing this monster! I figured that my days were numbered before it started to fall out. What a Waste when someone could use that hair! All it would do for me is cause me emotional pain when it came out. I hate my hair cut so I'll be ready for it to fall out. Already got a cute Jon renau wig and order another longer one. Ordering cotton caps and sleep caps whatever!
I bad about checking in and then I type forever sorry! But to answer the question- Eloise (LuLu) is a lot better now! I just left them with my sister for the next two nights while we head to Houston. Right now she is getting more teeth:(. Since my surgery 11/20 the baby has gotten 6 teeth!! She has 4 back teeth and 4 top and 2 bottom. The side bottoms got to be coming. Boobs and teeth are the family focus right now lol!
Everyone have a great holiday! Stay warm;). Glad to see this year go. And ready for New Year's resolutions and 2014 which is going to be a miraculous year for us all!
-
Hi Jodi. Good to hear from you. A word on haircuts. My DD suggested I get mine cut short if they decide to do chemo. Good idea, where good became great for me was when she said to send my hair to have a wig made for me! Out if my own hair. I'm used to it, I like it and I'll be more comfortable wearing a wig that looks and feels like me. Can you do that if you wanted to?
We had a busy Christmas as well, with 5 kids plus spouses, 11 grandkids (and their spouses, omg) and 1 of my 2 great-grandbabies. Lots of food, laughter and games.
So Lulu has 10 little teeth happening? Awww. So cute. Can't wait to see a picture.
Hi June, how did Christmas go with your sis? Did you take it easy or was it go, go, go? Are your drains out yet? I think I recall you saying that they would possibly be coming out last Monday.
Pipers, all of the wonderful things you mentioned would be great, if only our DH would do that pampering. A 2 minute back rub while I'm standing with my hands in the dishwater is much more likely. And even that is appreciated.
Well, I'm at work so I guess I should stop chatting with you girls. Hope everyone gets to wind down this weekend. Hugs'n'kisses

June - I am stage 3a as well. My tumors weren't the cause but the lymph nodes. I had 7/9. The only cancer I "have" in my body now is a lymph node mid chest they found at MDA. That node under my arm that always swelled with pregnancies was over 4cm!! One node! I hated that node my whole adult life, but I think it saved mine!! It held on to a lot and didn't let it spread as much as it could!
Stages don't really matter under 4. I mean you can be stage 0 or 1 in situ and need no chemo and be done after surgery. That was my original dream;) Then last week my dream was for the femur to be negative so I wouldn't be stage 4 bone mets! I'll take my second dream answered and be thrilled. What a relief that was last Friday to hear that news.
I just finished second dose of taxol. Tummy ache hit me after we are dinner. It usually is one potty issue and that is all. Just be honest in case if anyone else gets on taxol. Day 2 is usually fine. Day 3 the aches come and I was in bed Day 4. Day 5 up and fine. I'll track this week and see if it follows the same pattern. 2 down 10 more to go:( Then, the big 4 FAC treatments. Get it all!!
-
Jodi, I'm glad Lulu is better and I hope to see her in that hat soon. She has got to be so cute.
Red, I thought about having my hair made into a wig but mine is thin and doubt it would cover one well--I've been chasing my ungrateful college girl hoping for hers but she won't part with it. Hers has gotten so long too.
June, I hope you're getting along with sis? I can see how all this stress would def stress your relationship though. I didn't even tell my sis about the cancer though--she's not really a part of my life anymore and she only lives 10 min away!
-
hi all,
Hope you had a nice Xmas and enjoy the coming new year.
My drains were out yesterday completely. The took one out last tue since I had two. I am glad no more drains. And doing well with sis...she's very caring and I am grateful. Had the pet scan yesterday so will know more the coming Monday. Tho the oncologist said its unlikely the cancer spread but she wants to make sure so the pet scan.
Will write more later
-
Hey Jodi, please do keep us up on the Taxol. Since I haven't made my decision yet, I am very interested in how people react to it. I was also very glad that your second prayer was answered. No bone mets is wonderful! Also happy that that toothy baby is feeling better. Hi, LuLu. How are your big girls doing?
Pipers, my DD is considering giving hers up again. How do you feel about being a brunette? Lol. Hers grows so fast, she gives it up every couple years, 12" at a time. I am so jealous.
June, I'm so happy you are drain-free. It must feel so good. Do let us know the results of your scan. What exactly is a PET scan tho? Sorry, I'm not familiar with the term.
Well, back to my kitchen scrubbing. It's pretty yucky after all the cooking I did this week. Stove top next.
-
hi all,
talking about hair cut, my right arm still can't move freely so i am thinking of changing my hair do. will probably have short hair for a while.
jodi - hope you feel better soon. how many sessions are you going to have?
red - pet scan is a 3D scan to see if any cancer cells gone to my organs since i have two nodes positive. everyone (docs) told me it's possible but unlikely...sigh...so won't know until monday. deep breath.
-
Just keep swimming June.
The hair can go if it's a problem. Heck, I can think of a dozen things that are no longer worth worrying about. Stuff I used to think was highly important. How our values redefine themselves when faced with bc.
{{{{{{huggles}}}}}}

Red- I am doing 12 weekly taxol. 10 more to go. It is NOT HARD AT ALL! The drip is an hour long. Pre meds are given 30 min drop before and include Zantac (anti heartburn) and a Benedyrl cocktail. Just the tummy ache happens later but no biggy!
June- my right arm is moving good now! My surgery was 5-6 weeks ago. Still sleeping on my back though. I was a side sleeper:(. But it hurts still. I also wake up without feeling like an elephant is on my chest! Ugh that hurt! Once the drains came out, the healing went by very fast. My drains were in for 3 weeks.
All my girls are doing great! My oldest said the funniest thing today. On Nov 14, she missed school bc she had strep and got a shot. When you get a shot- you get a prize so that it isn't that bad. Well we received the cancer news that afternoon and she never got her prize. Today I heard her telling her cousin," I was gonna get that as my prize but then cancer happens so oh well no big deal!" I
Laughed and said what did you say? Then cancer came? It was so funny and no big deal to her which means they are not scared! I looked at my husband and said take her to the store for that prize! I completely forgot;). Just funny how kids see things. Hoping we can all look back on this time and and say in a no big deal way and "then cancer came"
AND WENT!!
-
"Hoping we can all look back on this time and and say in a no big deal way and "then cancer came"
AND WENT!!
"
Funny you said that Jodi--I like to do a visualization exercise where I take cancer firmly by the hand and escort her pathetic butt out the door, very nicely but firmly. In my case she looks like a lumpy octopus.
