Movie - hope it warms up for you soon

Edi - that doll should do well with the meerkat, sounds very interesting. Glad you are taking time to nap, can't understand why you wouldn't want to complete the water survey ;) Bet they won't be calling back anytime soon and wrecking your naps

Dakota - lovely picture, you should be a proud mama

Morwenna - great picture, didn't see the cat in the Facebook picture. Have my ingredients for my dessert on Friday, wish me luck, I am not the greatest baker

Nihahi - loved the chinook pictures

As Nihahi said - we had a great chat and coffee and I came away with a still warm from the oven, heavenly smelling loaf :). Nice to be able to drive around a little easier today, just had to have lots of windshield washer fluid. Supposed to cool down tomorrow again with possible snow flurries.

Tomorrow evening I get to babysit Paisley - life is good!

    Take care everyone!

That's our Molly! She wanted to be in the picture but wouldn't stay still. DS was the photographer, so we asked him to take several shots. My mum asked me to send "a nice photo" of myself and DH, as the one she had on her mantlepiece is from 2003, and fading :)

It was of our first trip to Canada, and we were all suited up like astronauts heading out on a whale watching trip. We were very amused, as we emerged onto the quayside, that there was a brass band playing Holst's "Jupiter" from the Planet Suite! Da-da-da dum dum, da-da-dum! ;)

Hi Ladies. Well it was a long week that wrapped up with me being laid up in bed with a respiratory infection of some nature - that's where I am still, although almost seems appropriate for a snowy afternoon.

The best news is that the week also ended with my DH sunmitting his retirement notice - something I've been wishing for, for many years. Hopefully that means we'll be living under the same roof - soon!

Traii, love your avatar - unbelievably cute photo of your DS on FB. Your hair is looking great, girl!

Edi, your big concert, i.e. the one your DH didn't want to attend, is coming up soon, isn't it? Hope you have a lovely time.

Websister, I'm sure you and Paisley had fun together!

Well, still have a lot to clear off my plate at work this week, meaning I hope I can shake off whatever this is by Monday. We're heading to Nova Scotia next Saturday, back to Indy on the 27th, then Louisville on the 28th and Mississippi on the 29th - so lots of travel coming up.

Hope you all have a cozy weekend - except those of you in the Southern Hemisphere - wishing you easy, breezy days!

Trying 0.5 mg Chlonazepam prn to help sleep and reduce anxiety. Had two nights really long sleep!!

I think I better not take it on a "school night", although I am feeling calmer (she yawns)...

morwenna.....hoping you find a gentler way to get some zzzzzzz's and deal with anxiety. Clona works, but yep, it's pretty hard core. How is the RTW going for you?

edi.....hope the hip pain got sorted out for you????

dakota....when do the kids get out of school for Christmas break?

caitlin....wow...big changes for you and hubby!!!!! Can't imagine how you've stayed sane through all this, with multiple addresses on top of everything else.

Hi all....been MIA for a bit....had a super-busy weekend (translates into 3 parties....I lasted an hour at each...still tired from surgery 2 weeks ago today...) Am now paying for it with the makings of a cold......blech!

Traii, I am feeling jealous of your warm weather.....the thermometer is stuck here at 35* , and we haven't seen the sun in DAYS(which is more important than the temp.).....enjoy your time off.  I loved the picture you posted on FB of DS......he is a CUTIE-naughty OR nice!

Maria, congratulations on finishing rads.......you did it!   Now you can enjoy the holidays a bit more.....

Jackpot, congrats to you, too, for finishing up chemo......I bet you walked out of there with a smile from ear to ear!

Edi.....glad to hear the hip pain has lessened, and what is it about GKs, who can be SO good when alone with Grandma, but the moment Daddy (or Mummy) show up, all hell breaks loose????  The same thing happens here!  I am probably crazy, but have invited DGD for a sleep-over on Friday night.....it will be the first one all year, as I have not been up to it....not sure I am now

Nihahi.....how did things go?  I am thinking of you. (((Hugs)))

Dakota-so sorry to hear about your car.....isn't that just the way it ALWAYS happens.....as if the Christmas season wasn't stressful enough on its own.......hope it didn't set you back too much.

Benny, if you are reading this, just want you to know you are in my thoughts daily, and I hope that you are beginning to feel a bit better.  sending you a cyber (((hug))).

To everyone I have not mentioned......I hope you are keeping warm (or cool-depending on location!) and that you are enjoying the Holiday season........XO

I want to add my congratulations to Maria and Jackpot - way to go ladies!!!

Edi - good to hear from you, glad the hip pain has left you  and that energy is returning.

    Traii - enjoy your vacation

Dakota - hope the car problem wasn't too serious or expensive

Movie - so good to hear from you again. Take it easy, you are still recovering - enjoy GD but don't overdo it, OK?

Nihahi and Morwenna - how is everything with the two of you? I hear we are expecting snow and cold weather again starting this evening

I've been busy trying to get ready for a houseful for Christmas and work has been pretty busy also. I have a co-worker that I met with today whose husband was just diagnosed with terminal lung cancer. The family is reeling - so hard for them, especially at this time of year. It sure makes you realize how quickly life can change - one month ago he was golfing and didn't think he had a care in the world.

Love you all, take good care

    and......it's snowing sideways again.....

websister....so sorry to hear about your co-worker's husband. News like that is never easy....seems somehow magnified in emotion when the timing is around holidays or significant "dates".

maria and jackpot.....doing the happy dance for you both. Such a huge milestone, and a wonderful Christmas gift to have that behind you.

edi...great news on the hip pain...did they ever decide what causes it for you?? I thought I heard about another storm heading towards England....doesn't sound like an easy winter for you so far....hope this one isn't as damaging.

movie...DO NOT BE SICK AT CHRISTMAS!!!! Tell that cold to go plant itself in your neighbours fir trees!

I got the all clear from the derm doc yesterday....woohoo! Don't have to go there for a whole year. Hubby got a call to come in and "discuss" his MRI...hmmmm.....but he declined appt times for this week, so isn't going in until next Monday...MEN.....don't get me started.

Love to everyone else....time to get a move on and turn off the computer.

    hi all

Just popping on to say final chemo went ok....

only downside was I've got to have a brain scan in jan because of the collapse I had....i wont get the results till mid jan and they said I can't drive till I get them....that's not going to happen I've got far to much to do...they've already told me it was low blood pressure that caused it

Hope everyone's doing ok  and almost ready or Xmas

    Take care

jackpot - they tend to be overly cautious just to cover their rear end - they don't want you suing them if anything goes wrong. If It were me, I would probably drive, but with the understanding that if anything happened that it would be my entire responsibility. Yeah  for finishing chemo - it is a milestone!

    Sorry ladies....I'm a bit distracted lately.....and haven't caught up.

Well now HERE's a topic we haven't chatted about before........

Background info relevant to the following saga.....I am a dual citizen (US and Canada), so I file tax returns for both US and Canada every year).

I got a letter today, from the IRS. The letter states that they received my 2012 US Tax Return (goodie....I mailed it lightyears ago)....but much to their regret, their information from the Social Security Administration indicates that I became deceased (ARE YOU KIDDING ME!) prior to the tax year, so they cannot process the return, and have frozen my tax account.

SERIOUSLY!!!!!! I NOW HAVE TO JUMP THROUGH HOW MANY HOOPS TO GET WRITTEN CONFIRMATION THAT I AM IN FACT STILL ALIVE, SO I CAN PAY MY TAXES!!!!! I AM NOT AMUSED!!!!!!!!!!DevilDevil

That sucks, Nihahi!!  I'm surprised you have to pay taxes in both places - I would have thought Canada only, since that's where you're a resident?  I pay taxes in the US only, but I guess that's because I have severed my residency ties with Canada.  How on earth could they have you as deceased?!  Does that mean your social security number will show you as deceased in any government database?  Good luck sorting it out - hopefully it will be easier to fix than you fear.

caitlin....this sucks BIG TIME!!!!! I'm still a dual citizen. I have to pay US taxes on a small amount of money that was left to me by my parents. The money is still in the US, and has a mandatory yearly withdrawal, hence the US tax. I get to claim it back (partially) on my Canadian tax. Very convoluted, and now......very confusing and worrisome. What is this "being dead" classification going to affect, that I'm not even aware of!!!!!!

    Hi Nerdy
Firstly good news, finally results came through on hip x.ray !! Nothing showing, no further action.Happy The pain from the bursitis went on for weeks sooo glad its over.
Tiredness still improving, yesterday was frantically busy so no time for a nap but kept going until 1 am THEN splat.Snooze
Went to visit a dear friend in the afternoon, he has just been told his cancer has come back in his liver Scared He is starting new chemo tomorrow so we had a cuppa and a lovely catch up. He is so positive and sure it will all be ok.
We had such a laugh when he told us a little story. His wife was sorting through the wardrobe and shouted " I have found that shirt for your cremation " Their GD shouted " Nan its his CONFIRMATION !! He is our friend who was christened some weeks ago at age 72 and confirmed last week.
We all roared with laughter especially him.Good job he isnt depressed.

Websister,How exciting Xmas again, can't believe twelve months have passed. It will be so lovely especially with it being Paisley's first Xmas.
So sorry to hear about your friends DH.What a dreadful shock, we really never know the minute. X

Dakota, hope car sorted, bet the kids are really excited. Hope cockroach keeps a low profile. X

Traii, Holidays yay !! I am jealous, could do with some warmth on these old bones X

Movie, Take it easy on the sleepover. Sure it will be lots of fun. X

Nihahi, OMG !! Tax people are incredible Devil They are brain dead here too if any consolation.
DH and MRI results, head in sand comes to mind. My DH has a cough which won't go, " I am so worried " he says. Ruined Xmas day comes to mind, got him an appointment at Docs ALL OK. He wouldn't have done it. So far this year he has had at least three kinds of cancer Shocked I no longer find it endearing or amusing just a pain in the ass.
Weather here not bad, went to pics in New Brighton yesterday, where the storms were last week ALL back to normal hard to believe it ever happened.

    Blackbutterfly, ((( HUGS )))

Jackpot, sure scan will be ok and I too would be driving at this time of year. Stay safe. X

Better go, DH flouncing around as we need new wireless headphones. Needless to say as I am on here they need getting NOW !!

short note from the "other side"

edi...love your posts....so miss you when you're not on here....Great news about your hip....sad news about shedman. Love his attitude though....!

Hubby stayed home from work yesterday because of the weather, so realized if he wanted my nagging to stop, he might as well go see the Dr......MRI showed no changes from 9 years ago, so that's good...some spinal issues that if he would keep up with his prescribed exercises would be much improved (Exercises.....cures so much.....so important.......maybe THIS TIME HE'LL LISTEN!!!), stomach issues are due to meds he was taking for shoulder pain...hmm, of course when I suggested that....(nevermind). So he's happy as a clam, now.

Still apparently "dead" here....going to pour a cup of coffee and sit on the phone for the day, trying to start my "resurrection"....it's -33, windchill, as good a day as any to stay indoors!

    Love to all.

Nihahi! If you are dead, at least they can't get you for tax evasion!!

Seriously though, I heard somewhere it can be extremely difficult to prove yourself alive once you have been declared deceased. I wonder how it happened?!!

The case I'm thinking of was a man who faked his own death, then disappeared for a few years. Eventually I guess he had sorted his head out and wanted his old life back, but it wasn't as easy as that! His wife had collected his life insurance, but didn't even have to pay it back because as far as officialdom was concerned he was still dead! :o

I had good news yesterday: my CT showed no change in my lung nodule over the last year, so it is "stable", but they will repeat CT in another year.

I thought my leg had stopped twitching, but it is firing off again just now! 99% certain it is b9 also!

    Merry Christmas y'all! :)

Oh Nihahi, you are a scream !! Happy.
You are doing soooo well for a spirit being, ha ha.
Relieved for you about DH results Smilearen't men hopeless ?
Gave in to a nap this afternoon, it was bliss.
Watching the news here is heartbreaking tonight Sadthe two men who killed Lee Rigby the wonderful young soldier murdered in the street while walking back to his barracks earlier this year have been found guilty. What else could the outcome be ?
His family have had to watch his death again and again during the trial, his Mom and family have been destroyed by this act.

Off to hospital twice tomorrow, Diabetic clinic then to see about having this cataract removed a.s.a.p
Falling apart slowly and surely Loopy
Glad to  see the end of this year, hope 2014 is better for us all.Nerdy X

Progress report from the "other side".....I got through to the SSA office in Great Falls and spoke to a lovely lady, who didn't seem to require much proof that I am actually "non" departed. I was going to offer to hold the phone up to my chest so she could hear my heartbeat....but thought better of it....

soooo......the good news is.....Social Security has no idea that I passed away, and still lists me as alive! Hurray.....but, wait......apparently, there is no protocol to "make a correction to information that isn't incorrect".......can you hear my pause on the phone line.....soooo...I said.....I do agree, that I am still alive, but the IRS believes that you told them I'm not............hmmmm, she said.....I'm going to have to talk to other people to see what to do.........sigh.......so....apparently, I have no permanent status in either realm, quite yet. Oh well.....I've got a date to have tea with buddha soon, lunch with Queen Victoria, might crash the party and have supper with Elvis...such interesting characters here, really.Nerdy.

Nihahi - say Hi to Marilyn Monroe while you're there - When I think of the wonderful coffee chat we had I am now thinking of the quote from the movie 'Sixth Sense' - I see dead people ;) Hope it all gets sorted out smoothly. Also good to hear about DH's MRI results

Edi - wonderful news re: hip, so good to hear. Sounds like your naps are doing you good

Morwenna - good CT scan news, now for that leg to stop twitching

Caitlin - good to hear about your DH's decision to retire

I am desperately trying to use the energy and time I have left to get ready for Christmas, I finished a couple of gifts for Paisley yesterday, now some sewing for the other grandchildren to finish up and then ...lots of other things to do. Hoping by end of this weekend that I will have accomplished most of it, Christmas will still come whether I am ready or not, once here might as well relax and enjoy

I also hope this will be a better year for all of us

    Take care everyone

    Hi Nerdy
Flippin knackered, three hours xmas shopping with DH !! Tried to lose him loads of times but he always finds me Sad
Just last bits and pieces but shops are rammed and everyone looks frantic.Singing
Had to stop for a Latte in Mac Donalds to stop me hitting the deck ( and DH )
Diabetic check this morning went well medications reduced and all levels good. Happy
Then off to see optician, Cataract will be removed in about three weeks, and to make it even better it is in our local private hospital. Really posh Smile still on national health service as they are trying to bring waiting lists down.Still scared stiff but compared to last year should be a doddle.
Shedman has had new stent fitted today so hopefully will be able to eat his xmas dinner. So all in all a good day.
Only yuk bit is ED thinks she is coming down with flu. Scared If so will have to dash out and stock up with xmas food. Dinner at her place won't be happening. Poor girl gets ill each holiday from work.
DD is spending xmas at Ribbyhall near Blackpool, they rent a lovely chalet and lots to do  for GD then xmas dinner in restaurant. Expensive but worth every penny.
Boxing day we are at my baby brothers house for glorious family party so really looking forward to next week.

Hope you all get your preparations done in plenty of time.X
