Tee, hee....Bren is having a heat wave.....snow here, turning to ice - and speaking of snow, you MUST check out these pictures, which I'm not even gonna try to post:

scroll down the page to see the pictures...just amazing...
I thought I "knew" about Mandela, but the I more I learn, with all the articles now, the more I realize how LITTLE I knew, what an AMAZING human being. The pictures of him taken over the last year or so, with others around him, make me think, well, that he is teaching us, in his quiet stillness, of his next journey. Friends from SA tell me they don't often use the word "death" but use the word "transition." Such an exuberance, warmth, and yet stillness about him. Soulful, and always, always, lessons in forgiveness. Can see more & more what a model he has been for Obama. Alas, that good nature in our culture is too often called "naive" and used against him. Remember David Maranis (Obama biographer) saying ( paraphrase) Obama was too "good" for our culture. I think Obama has a steely core, but I know what Maranis means..... -
Beautiful snowflakes, Sunny. I really enjoyed this article http://www.dailykos.com/story/2013/12/05/1260353/-Wanna-know-why-Republicans-fear-Obamacare
and likely we have seen it in one or more forms, a time or two or three. Got a huge kick about drowing in Grover Norquist's bath-tub.

Sunnyflowers ... those snowflake pictures are really cool.
Freezing rain and ice on the way here. We're expecting really bad weather over the next few days. Probably getting that system that brought all that snow to Jackie.
Our friend Enjoyful is in South Africa right now. I'm sure the people are mourning the loss of Mandela. I wonder if there will be a public service and if Enjoyful could attend.
hugs,

Depending which forecast one looks at, we're suppose to get to 1 degree tonite where I live in California. Unheard of! I don't believe it. Just shoveled the few inches of snow (so dry - that's unusual!) we got. Not too cold for me. Sunny and suppose to stay that way all week?
How timely for Enjoyful to be in South Africa at this time. It may cause some things to be closed, but it will be interesting to hear what she says about the reactions, etc., there. I was in Italy in 1978 when Aldo Moro, the PM, was found (he was kidnapped and killed by the Red Brigade). That moment, whe he was found, we were on our way to the Ufitze in Florence and will never forget all the shops closing down and people walking en masse to the main square. It was so quiet and somber. Wish there hadn't been the language barrier.
Sunny - I agree, Obama is wasted on a large element of this country. They don't get it. They don't understand that calmness and as you say, that "steely core." He reminds me of JFK that way. -
self-explanatory

What an amazing time to be in South Africa! I'm sure E will come back with lots of stories! -

Beautiful pictures Blue. If I could pick a couple.......it would take hours. They are spectacular.
Good news on the mammogram. Got it in the mail right before work and though I had worked up a positive feeling....decided I'd wait till after work. Didn't want to spoil a perfectly good evening just in case. But all is fine and I can have another lovely picture done in a year.
Don't know why this one got to me just a little. Think since I was just able a short while ago to dc the Anastrozole I had this sense of my security blanket being left behind or something and will have to trust in my well-being without the crutch that Anastrozole gave me for five years.

Also thought I would share this http://www.addictinginfo.org/2013/12/07/eric-cantor-gives-cold-shoulder-to-immigration-reform-kids/ Eric Cantor just has always "looked" to me as something of a snobbish type and while I know that I should never make judgment in that way, he tended to give my judgment some credibility for these actions. There is so much I could say about this person.....none of it fit for printing here. I'm with the article writer and would love to see him lose his job.....the one he has not been doing much of and now this.
Just appears to me that many on the right ( especially T.Per's ) are really pushing the boundaries out and you can do a lot of things that could well be quite regretful actions down the line.

Remembering dear John (October 9, 1940 - December 8, 1980). The music and the message lives on.
Imagine all the people living life in peace. You may say I'm a dreamer, but I'm not the only one. I hope someday you'll join us, and the world will be as one.

My Goodness! Is this for real? Can't tell anymore!!!!!!!!!!!!

Have to be careful when you open Pandora's box. -
Blue, I certainly hope it is not for real. Anyone who has to "fear" a little red man with a pitchfork in order to do what is ethical and moral is in my humble opinion just may be missing half the cards in the deck. Then again, from early on or ( when I decided I could think for myself ) I realized that far too much of religion ( if you choose to participate ) was at one time designed to scare you mainly into displaying certain behaviors -- like reaching quite deep in your pocket when the collection plate came round.
I could go on as it has been a subject of study for me for quite sometime....but the point is.....there is no devil save for the one you believe in......and there are not nearly as many sins as what was once thought. Each of us has the spark of the divine and if used well......all of the scare tactics and Ayn Rand and all of the churchified business is just so much fluff for control purposes.
Some Churches have wised up, grown up and you can go and enjoy time and services in the company of like-minded and likely now, un-judgmental people. They enjoy their worship but don't mistake the meaning.....but just my opinion.
