Edi - your view over the fence is amazing - I love cows and the countryside. I need to learn how to post photos on here - your little kids are cute and you look fab on your cruise photo. You know something I never had a photo taken when I had no hair - couldn't handle it! Now I wish I had one just for the records and memories. -
Will miss you Momof2, but can certainly understand your need to be away from BCO for awhile. I took quite a sabbatical myself during my post-treatment funk. Sending you very best wishes for smooth sailing through chemo!
Sounds like the surgery went well, Movie. If you have to spend time in a compression suit, I suppose that it's better it be in Winter rather than Summer. Hope your recovery goes smoothly.
So nice to hear from the Land Down Under, Traii!! Hope that the lymphatic massage will be successful in alleviating the swelling you're experiencing.

Well, we're supposed to experience some wintry weather over the next couple of days - but it will pale in comparison to what you've had so far in Calgary.

I know I don't post often, I do lurk and just have to say to Benny how sorry I am to hear about Diamond. I could hardly believe what I was reading. Please know you are in our thoughts. We lost our boy suddenly at 17 on November 5th...broken leg....I hope Diamond is running with him!

It is blowing a gale here in Blighty
mainly in Scotland winds of up to 90 mph today. At least havent got to hold on wig this year.
Hope me hairless didn't upset anyone. Just wanted to show that there is light at end of this tunnel and as I am smiling (and it wasnt a forced smile ) anyone can do it. To me it was just the next step on the journey, and we are still ourselves with or without hair. I look out our brave servicemen with missing limbs that will never grow back and think " now that IS tragic "Adagio, took pic originally for myself, then put it on f/b the respose lifted me so much and others in the same place found encouragement from it .It is peaceful at the bottom of my garden the view is why we bought this house. As we don't really live in the countryside and always wanted to it was just perfect. X
Caitlin, Did the keys not turn up where you had been staying either? My DH would be not impressed either. He left his in the door at least twice last year so if they hadnt be found car would have gone as well but of course that was different ha ha.

I have put out our nativity scene, that for me is the start.GD spends ages gazing at it, now she asks which wise man is carrying which gift and worries about the fact that baby Jesus isnt wearing a baby grow. LOL X

edi....thanks for those photos! Never in a million years, would I have guessed that someone living in Liverpool would have a backyard view like that one!!!! You must live on the very last road in the entire city. So happy you are in the chorus....I bet the elderlies you sang for had big smiles on their faces....Christmas holds so many memories of simpler times for so many of us. We have our tree up (artificial this year) but it's not decorated yet. A few decorations out around the place. I have to ask.......what is a baby "grow"????? Hope you don't get that Scottish weather!
caitlin..it's not like you lost the keys on purpose. Hopefully if you give up and stop looking for them, they'll turn up. If not......it's not like you've misplaced a small child!

just an fyi....I called benny yesterday and chatted for a bit. I passed along that so many people are thinking of her and sending her hugs. She is not being active on here or facebook, so we'll just keep her in our thoughts and prayers. -
Veins didn't want to play for blood draw this morning, dammit.
Bloody woman said "am I hurting you?", to which I normally say, "It's ok", but today I was fed up with the whole thing, so I said "yes, it always hurts, don't worry about it!"
So she gave up on my elbow, and punctured my hand instead!
Sigh. Don't mind me, just having a whinge!

Morwenna....I can sympathise with the veins mine are all rock hard in my chemo arm and really painful, I don't know how their going to do pre chemo bloods before my next one...also I've got hard painful lumps in soe of them and I'm worried about blood clots, has anyone had this problem?
Edi....the Linda mc centre is wonderful I'm so lucky to have it on my door step I only live about a mile away from it but I havnt been to fazakerly hospital yet....I've just got my appt for clatterbridge for jan 7th to get my radiotherapy tattoos and scan it's the only time I've got to go there, is that were you treated?

I did get blood clots in my leg, which spread to my lungs, but none in arms afaik. Just scarring.
Actually having regular blood draws at this time is kinda my own fault as I insisted I come off the Heparin injections for blood thinning, in favour of oral warfarin. So they have to check my blood inr to maintain stability while on warfarin. -

Nihahi, I emigrated from Liverpool many years ago. We moved to the other side of the Mersey River referred to as the Wirral. Our roots still in that wonderful city though.
Baby grow ha ha. Thought that would get you going. They are an all in one suit with poppers down the front and down the legs for nappy ( diaper ) changing. They are sometimes made of stretch terry towelling but now a days usually more luxury type material i.e. velour or fleece type for warmth.Actually spelt it wrong it is babygro, silly Edi.
Weather here is ghastly. Down at our waterfront 30ft waves and shops flooded, little tots had to be rescued from play centre ! Cars washed away and the lovely driftwood boat the beachcombers built which GD loved to play on in the summer has been smashed and washed away down the river.Hopefully not lives lost yet but parts of England havent had the worst tides yet.
Decorations sorted and some up.
DH out tonight with shedman so will finish off then. They are giving Shedman more Rads but internally direct into his tumour, We are all hoping this will give him more time. XJackpot, Clatterbridge is my treatment centre. They are incredible, like the Linda Mc. My veins are knackered too
terrible trouble getting blood out last week. Veins like flippin concrete.XMorwenna, feel as sorry for yourself as you like we all understand X

edi.....gosh....stay safe in that weather!!!!! Anyone who doesn't believe that the planet climate is changing is in complete denial, imo!!!!! Everything seems so much more extreme the past few years. I thought you were in Liverpool....that's all I think of when I hear you talk about the Mersey.....now I have to google Wirral!

Edi....the weather has been horrendous today hasn't it....it sounds like your side of the river got it much worse than the liverpool side, I hope no one was hurt...shame about the boat I seen a clip of that someone put on Facebook

Jackpot, my clots were probably caused by a "perfect storm" of factors, but I do have a blood platelets disorder, which didn't help! All better now, bit have to be on "blood thinners" at least a year, according to my hematologist! I'm sure he's a very nice man! ;p
I'm over my pity party. Had a really long slow drive home just now, and sang all the way!

Edi - I enjoyed the pictures of you, the one of you 'hairless' was fine and I do think it is inspiring. You look so happy in the before picture and then again with your GD's in the after picture. Sounds like you had a good day yesterday, so sad to see the weather pictures you posted.
Nihahi posted the temp here today earlier, just listened to the news and it is going to get colder - how is that possible? So thankful for a warm place to live in and to work in. My meetings went well yesterday, today I was able to stay at the office and work on documents resulting from the meetings.
Tomorrow is our support group with BCSCF and I have a story to write for homework so better get going on it. Morwenna is a wonderful poet - wondering what her story writing skills are like - will find out tomorrow

Edi, those are stunning photos - and not in a good way!! I hope that you and your family are safe and sound. I've been to the Wirral once, albeit almost 30 years ago. At one point in university, I shared a house with 2 other Canadian girls and 3 British guys. One of them was from the Wirral. Another became my boyfriend/fiancé and when I visited him in Wales, we met up with our other room-mate in the Wirral. Still remember taking a ferry ride across the Mersey.
Sorry about your blood draw issues, Morwenna. I seem to recall from another thread that you and I have the same or similar platelet disorder. I didn't have any problem during chemo, except that my port would not work for blood draws for the last 3 rounds - I had to go on oral Coumadin then. Now that I'm on Tamoxifen, my MO (who was simply my hematologist before BC) has me on a full aspirin per day plus Anagrelide (reduces my platelet count).
No sign of the keys - this is what comes from jockeying back and forth between two houses in two states - I never know where anything is! We were going to head to Kentucky, where I hope the keys are, tonight, but the roads are too slick.
Good luck with your homework, Websister! You write so well that I'm sure your story will be well received by others in your group.

Edi - what a storm you have been enduring over there. I like the picture with the rat perched on the post - it tells a story! Hope it is settling down a bit - weather patterns are changing all around the world these days. It is frightening.
Nihahi - we got our tree (a real one) last night, and I am hoping to get it decorated over the weekend before the house guests arrive. I can't remember if two and a half year olds like decorating trees or not - if so, perhaps I will wait until my little grandson arrives and let him "help" me! LOL -

I love it, the ornaments are beautiful. I collect ornaments whilst on holiday and when I decorate my little memory tree in the back room each one makes me smile.
Whilst in Bahrain many years ago DH myself, my cousins wife and her friend saw some lovely ornaments that were two for a Dinar or whatever the money was. I picked two and DH gave them to the stall holder. He looked so distressed and was pointing at us ladies and chattering away.My cousins wife told us it was because the man thought we were all DH's wives and should have bought three ornaments ( one each ) It seems that is the norm there So if one gets a new car for instance they ALL get a new car.!
She explained and the lovely man was then happy again.I will show GD your tree when she comes tomorrow she will love it.
As Jackpot said can't believe our weather made news where you are ! Today it is 6 deg c so positively balmy compared to your part of the world. May have rain later but no wind thank goodness. That along with very high tides caused yesterday.
Onesies ! that is a newish word here and they seem to be the favourite garment worn by young and old for lounging about in the house.
Looked at one the other day then thought " goodness Edi you would never get it off quick enough if the bathroom needed "
XMorwenna, glad your spirits have lifted. I was singing in the car yesterday too, told the lady who runs our choir about you and she was thrilled to hear about your gold medal win. We are small potatoes in comparison ,wish we would move like you do. Most are so ancient they would fall over
. In my choir pic have a look at the lady in black on the front row and have a guess how old she is ?

Caitlin, Ferry cross the Mersey, WOW spent some happy times doing this. Like Jackpot not often enough despite being 10 mins away. Do you remember which part of Wirral you visited.?
DH and I used to get on the Ferry in Liverpool where we were both born ,sail over to the Wirral and instead of getting off and paying we would hide from the crew until it went back to Liverpool. That was almost 50 years ago doubt you could get away with that now.
We would do that a few times on a summer evening as we had no money or if we did we would get off and walk along the walk way in my picture.
Hope those keys tun up in other house. I see them on a hook somewhere ??? XAdagio, 2 1/2 year olds love to decorate tree

Off to the shops for some draught excluder for old lady we help. She lives in an enormous house all on her own and the wind whistles in here and there so we are trying to get it better for the winter.

I agree, you never would know to look at her!
She reminds me of DH's mum. She is 91 now, but hardly a wrinkle, and a full head of dark hair that has never ever been coloured. You'd put her in her 70's (maybe?). Just this year though, I thought she looked more frail, walking with a cane. She has lost weight since having a bleeding stomach ulcer last year.
You might notice in our chorus, one lady is on crutches (post-polio syndrome). She is a great inspiration to us all. Many of us have severe mobility issues, believe it or not! In the organization, you often see ladies in their 70's, 80's, or even 90's who have been Sweet Adelines for decades! Often older members are accommodated on special seats on the risers. Nobody is excused simply because they cannot stand to sing! -

They are based in Vancouver, and are a big step up from our "mid-sized" chorus in every respect. Because they are in our region, we have to "compete" against them annually. Sigh
The other chorus in our sights is Westcoast Harmony, also from BC! This year though, I do think we have closed the gap just slightly!
