I take the Anastrozole in the am as well. I figured it might keep my hot flashes from getting worse if I did that. So far so good. My joints have been very achy the last few days. Ibuprofin 800's don't touch the aches, Tylenol Arthritis helps some. The aches don't seem to care what time of day it is, they are about the same during the day as they are during the night. Which means instead of waking up from hot flashes I am waking up because of the aching and I need to try a different position. My pills are under $6. per month. Happy news there. -
kate..totally do the gym thing. i had that opportunity at one of my previous jobs and it was the best thing ever!
-
Teresa, make sure you drink a lot of water with the Tylenol...it helps the liver. (The things we need to worry about)
Pat -
Since finishing rads, I've been really watching what I eat again. Low fats, little or no sugar items, vegies, fruit. I am enjoying a glass of red wine here and there. Started my vitamin regime in the morning also. One item for the evening and that is low dose asprin. I've read in a few places now that it is supposed to help from recurrence of cancer. Anybody else heard of or has implemented a daily low dose asprin?
Have a great weekend. - Carla -
I saw someone posted earlier about taking a baby asprin a day...
Ive been pretty lazy about eating right, vitamins & etc... im gonna start monday on the treadmill, taking vits, eating right & adding a baby asprin to helo with any se if clots with the Tam...
Ive got a wicked cold right now, ... funny I havent been sick since dx.... now I have a cold..,, haha
-
lorrie..you didn't have time "to be sick" before!
I read about Manuka honey having great "healing powers"....I used it 3 x a day in tea last week when I felt a cold coming on. My cold was gone within 2 days. Expensive on amazon, I don't know the cost elsewhere.
Feel better.!
I booked my next stage of diep surgery for February 24th in. New Orleans. It is Mari Gras week! I am bringing a few friends to New Orleans, at one point I will be able to celebrate, then have surgery and the rest is up to them. Can't wait to see New Orleans in its REAL craziness,...I thought the place was nuts inOctober!
Hope everyone is doing well!
Pat -
Oooh.... Pat, im jealous! My dd is going for a week with biyfriend & friends... they got a place right on Bourbon.. good thing they are young. I doubt any sleep will be had on that street....
-
lol Lorrie...I am not within earshot of Bourbon St....but a close enough walk.
I can't even imagine how loud Bourbon street will be!
Pat -
Will look into manuka honey. thx for the info. How exciting to be able to be in New Orleans during Mari Gras. Maybe you can get real wild, go topless and show off those new babies.
Carla
-
Carla,I wouldn't have shown off my "babies" prior to BC, don't think I will be doing that now! Lol. Especially in this day and age of video! Lol -
Party pooper

-
lol....if you ask me to jump off the Brooklyn bridge should I?
Most I would do is buy a bra that looks like breasts and flash that!
Pat -
Regarding the low dose aspirin. I take one daily as my onc told me to because it helps prevent blood clots if you are taking Tamoxifen. She said Tamoxifen increases your chance for developing blood clots... -
Pat party for me in New Orleans, my birthday is February 24th! Thanks for the drinking water with my Tylenol tip.
I didn't take my Anastrozole yesterday, I needed to try to get a break from the aches. Still had aches but not as bad. The first month was only a day here and there. The first week of the 2nd month on it and I have ached every day. Maybe just getting more used to it. -
Teresa, you share the same birthday with my Mom!
My onc never mentioned the baby aspirin....makes sense,I will have to put it on my list of things to buy.
Wednesday am, bright and early(8:15) I have a pulminologist appointment.
I should have practiced getting out of bed! Lol. I have been a slug and leave it all up to hubby to get the kids up and out every day...the man needs to do SOMETHING! lol
Wishing everyone here a special Thanksgiving.
Pat -
Yes Pat Happy Thanksgiving to all, we truly have something to be thankful for. We have been through hell this year and are so close to a new year with new hopes and possibilities. Cheers to everyone! -
Doin fine so far on the Tam... felt tired for a couple days but have a cold, so.. feeling better today. Doesnt feel like its in my chest anymore, whew...
I think ill pass this year on saying what im grateful for at the thanksgiving table (I make everyone say something before we eat each year) im afraid the food will be bad by the time im done with my list... haha
I hooe you all have a great visit with famiky, great eats & feel your best!

Pat- jump off the Brooklyn Bridge? Hmmm Only if if can be there to watch. And if the water is warm.
Good luck with your pulmonary appt tomorrow.
Cheers to you too Teresa.
Lori hoping you continue to do well on tamoxifen.
Love to all - Carla

Carla, you are in a different time zone, not across the dateline! My appointmentis WEDNESDAY. Lol, not tomorrow (assuming you read the Monday night). I'm confused enough already don't add to it, I almost ran from my chair to set the alarm clock!
Hubby picked my mother up today. God Bless him. Funny as when I was with her at the hospital last week she commented she doesn't like to be here because my kids fight. (Not really that often if you ask me). I am soooo debating to give her the list of why I don't like her staying here! Number 1 is she turns the heat up to 75 downstairs...which send it upstairs ...and I swear I am going to melt. When Pat gets hot she gets bitchy!
Anyhow, trying to maintain my cool. She is old. I'm sure it isn't easy being her!
Lorrie...I don't think I would speak at Thanksgiving to what I am thankful for. I'd probably cry.
Anyhow I have really been thinking about it...have had quite a few people tell me I have a lot to be thankful for this Thanksgiving. I really have mixed feelings on that. Yes, I am thankful that my cancer wasn't worse, that my treatment was "fairly easy"....but am I thankful I had 2 breasts removed and rebuilt, that my kids had to get the crap scared out of them, the amount of time I spent in treatment, hair loss, weight gain blah blah blah???..there, those are the things I am NOT thankful for!
You know I always look for the bright side (hence patty"smiles") and this IS my idea of the bright side to all this...I am thankful, as I have ALWAYS been, for my wonderful supportive family and my children and for all the GOOD in my life when I know that there are so many in our country and around the world that don't have it so well. I am HOPEFUL that this journey has shown others that I know what they need to be thankful for. Most of all I am thankful for this board, and my May chemo group friends.

Hey Guys,
Patty - I'm glad you are making a "trip" out of your next jaunt to New Orleans! I think I mentioned that it was my first ever US vacation destination back in 1991 when I was 20!!!
Lori - Glad your cold is feeling better. I had my first cold a few weeks ago and it sucked
Teresa - my wedding anniversary is Feb 21 - Feb is a great month...
So I am with you Patty - Thanksgiving is a double edge sword this year. It's just hard to believe that I was sitting at the Thanksgiving table last year with no clue on the journey I was about to take...
Thanksgiving bumps up with Hannukah this year too - it's a once in a lifetime event, which kinda sums up 2013 for me....In review:
January - Ran a Marathon, started "Full time" at my company, February - Did my annual Purim play at Temple, March - diagnosed with breast cancer, April - had a mastectomy, May - started Chemo, June - Threw a Bat Mitzvah party!!!!!!, July changed chemo regimes and did a solid month, August...NOTHING!, September - reconstructive surgery, October - my two boy's birthdays, November - Started a new job!! HECK of a year!!!! -
Kate...one roller coaster ride I DO NOT want a ticket for again! -
You all rock and are so inspirational! Yes, we all have a lot to be thankful for. I echo Patty - thankful the Cancer is only Stage Ib for me, but geez - sure scared me and I'll be happy when all the treatments are done! Anyone out there that can't wait for their next mammogram to make sure it really is gone? Sure hopeful the lumpectomy was the right decision for me.
I'm thankful for a family that has been very supporative (especially my husband and my little girl). My little girl so funny, she calls my head her "Puppy Head". She loves to pet me because she says my head feels like a puppy! Gotta love 6 year olds
Without her, don't know what I'd be like through this whole experience - she has truly kept me grounded and positive.
Patty - New Orleans sounds like so much fun! Enjoy your time when you get down there. Party for me too
My birthday is the 19th of February.
Kate - Happy Anniversary a few months early
I agree February is a great month.
Have a most excellent Thanksgiving girls! Wish you all the absolute best.
-
saw the pulminologist this am.
He is a very nice doctor.
I have 4 nodules...which I knew...he indicated he didn't think they were anything, "most people have lung nodules" and only discover them when being scanned for something else. Largest one is 4 mm. BUT one of them has characteristics of "ground glass" ...(I googled it, not good. ) Given my history I will re-scan in 3 months and see him again. Anyhow, he seemed optimistic I don't have fever, difficulty breathing etc.
I will remain optimistic, what else can you do until somebody puts a label on it! Ha!
February will be a busy month. Ct scan, pulminologist, breast surgeon, daughters birthday, moms birthday, anniversary, New Orleans. I'm sure the darn oncologist will be somewhere in there! At least there are celebrations with all the nonsense!
Enjoy the holidays! I have to go grocery shopping...told hubby HE should be the one going. It is a true spectacle the day before Thanskgiving!

Got a call this morning that my boss' wife passed away last night... If you remember, she was diagnosed while I was in treatment..... They have been close friends of ours for more than a decade... She had just finished her 4th chemo and was getting ready to start the Taxol....
Everyday, they would ask me "how", "what".... "when did you feel better?"....
If you think about it, please add their family to your prayers....
Thank you
Lorrie
-
Lorrie...I am so sorry about the passing of you bosses wife. That is sad, but even more so during the holiday's.
My hair is about an inch long so I decided last week that I wanted to be a blonde for once in my life. My hair is naturally very dark, almost black. Several people thought it came back this color. My son's did not like it. My husband loves it. My 5 year old granddaughter just looked at me and laughed! Oh well. We will see if blondes have more fun.
Happy Thanksgiving to all! -
Happy Thanksgiving to you all!
I haven't checked in in a while. I finished my chemo in August and did not get radiation due to my genetic defect. That leaves me with a 30% chance of recurrence.
I had my big check up (full body MRI) last month and the cancer seems to be gone and everything looks great!
I am fully back to normal doing all the outdoor sports I like - no lymphodema so far and my hair is about an inch long and as thick as it was before - pheww. I hope I don't have to deal with cancer again any time soon -
Lorrie, I am so sorry. I have no other words. I will keep her family in my prayers.
Pat -
Lorrie, So sorry to hear about your friend. What in the world happened? Was chemo too much for her? So sad and sudden. My prayers are with her and her family.
Annie -
Lori - that's so horribleWhat happened? Did the chemo affect her heart?
I called the clinic to try to reschedule my herceptin treatment for next Friday. My appointment is 2:30pm and I finish work at 12 and it's quite close to my work, so I really wanted to go at 12:30 and the lady on the phone was so rude and said there were no other appointments that day!! I don't understand why they need to be so rude and nasty...
My boss took us all out to lunch today at 1pm and let us go home! WOOHOO. I'm so glad I changed jobs. -
Gosh Lori so sad so terrible. Prayers for her family and you.
Carla
