Hi Kathy! I've been busy getting my photos ready for the gallery and they are now up on the wall........the opening for the exhibition is tomorrow night. I've been getting ready also for the annual Aussie Girls get together, it is being held in Sydney this year and am really looking forward to catching up with those who can make it from last year and to meet the new girls who are able to make it.
This time of year is always busy for me as three of the four grands have their birthdays and the eldest turned eighteen this year so a bigger celebration was in order. It looks like December is going to be just as busy as I get back from Sydney on the 1st then I have to go to the city on the 5th to have dinner with my kids to celebrate my birthday and then on the 6th get to see the ENT re this darn deafness. GS number 4 has his birthday on the 17 and he insists that I bake his cake.......the only year I haven't is the year I had my mastectomy......and then I have to transport it to the city for his celebration.
To top all that, they all descend on me for Christmas and usually stay for three or four days so my little cottage becomes one big bed........lol.......thank goodness the weather is usually very warm so we can spend a lot of time outside! Sometime in amoungst all that I need to do some shopping both for food and gifts.......not sure when but if I start now I should be able to get 'er done.......lol.
Have a great day!
Love n hugs. Chrissy -
Hi all
Like to see this thread more active. Went shopping today - our big and still quite exclusive department store had a sale and everyone goes crazy. Evidently all the well do do ladies were lined up before the store opened and there was a great rush to get in. Didn't get in until midday and it was still crazy. Got a few things -its really worth it.
Then on the way home I stopped at a light and the car behind didn't, not too much damage but its going to be a pain. Hoping it can be done while I am away.
Must go and have a bath as I am a bit sore.
Big hugs -
Chrissy, your post made me almost out of breath! You surely do have a lot going on. Am glad the pictures are hung and ready for the opening. Good luck with it and I hope they all sell!
Alyson, so sorry about your accident, and I imagine you are very sore today! DH and I got rear-ended once (at a light, like your accident) and we were very sore for the next few days. Hot baths do help some, but time helps more.
I did buy 2 turkeys today, one for Thanksgiving and a 20-pounder for DH's family Christmas. I've never cooked a turkey that big before but I'll do that one and probably an additional turkey breast. We may not need all that much turkey, but never know how many until the actual event and it's better to be safe. This crowd will have no problem taking leftovers home with them either, so that's a plus. I'm wondering if I could thaw the big one in one of the church refrigerators too.
Hope everyone has a good weekend!
Kathy -
Wow Kathy! That's one huge turkey! How many days will it take to thaw? OMG! I just thought, how many hours to cook the darn thing?! I've never cooked a whole turkey but I have done a breast but I like smoked turkey breast.....yummm........particularly on a crispy bread roll with cranberry sauce, lettuce and tomato.........oh darn!, now I'm hungry and want one of those.......haven't got any of it so will have to raid the fridge instead.
Aly I do hope you are not feeling too sore today after getting bumped yesterday.
Yup, I'm on a wall. I do hope they are liked and enough that I sell at least a couple so I can recoup what I've laid out to get them there.........it had amazed me just how expensive that was.
It is a cool overcast day........I was hoping for a day of sunshine as my friends daughter got married today.......oh well, it could be worse, at least it's not raining!
Have a great weekend all.
Love n hugs. Chrissy -
I had a 20 pound turkey and it just fit in our oven, but it almost didn't. Our kids alternate between us and the in laws so this year we're just us instead of 14. I had five of my ancestors on the Mayflower and all made it through the winter so were at the first Thanksgiving,so this holiday means a lot to us. I can't imagine what they endured. -
Wow Lisa! What a family history! No wonder Thanksgiving is so special to you.........and that's how it should be. -
I was thinking that your family know the real meaning of Thanksgiving.
It is summer and we have had our first BBQ -
Hey everyone, my appt with BS and mammo went very well. NED for a 2nd year. whooeeeeee!!!!!!!!
I was off for the apt, so then went on to a women's retreat with some ladies from church. It was a great time, as long as I took a nap every day. Now I am catching up.
It will be a small Thanksgiving turkey for us this year. Which is fine by me. I like that the holiday has gotten less stressful, no real schedule or deadlines since so much of my immediate family is gone now. My DD will not get any time off from work (also she is in CO) so just DS and a good friend.
For many years my family had said that we had a relative that came over on the Mayflower. One of cousins finally did some research and found that he actually got thrown overboard before they landed, because of his bad behavior. Which sounds just like my family. lol
Chrissy, how is the show going?
wow, look at the time, I have got to get up off my bum and go grocery shopping! -
Nancy the show is going splendidly.........I have sold two so I'm super excited!
Congrats on your being NED for the second year in a row.........that is such a good thing to hear. Sometimes it's a good thing to have quieter holidays, as you say, less of everything that would take the enjoyment out of them.
Summer has hit with a vengeance these last couple of days.......sigh........I guess I should get used to the heat as it's going be around for a while yet. Thank goodness the cool breezes do show up to take the sting out.
One more day and then it's off to Adelaide to get my hair done and catch up with the kids and grands before hopping a plane on Friday morning and heading for Sydney for the Aussie girls from BCO get together.........I'm really looking forward to seeing some that were there last year and getting to know new ones that have joined our ranks.
Love n hugs. Chrissy -
I too headed for Sydney on Friday. Can't wait. -
Wishing everyone here in the states a Happy Thanksgiving.
It will be a busy one; but not with cooking. We're doing ours over the weekend, and very relaxed, just Mur (DH) my son, and I. Thanksgiving we're going to my oldest sons' for turkey with his family and my beloved grands, then to DH's parents. It's also the first night of Hannaka (sic) so, we need to be there, this year.
I plan on spending friday in bed!!!
Alyson and Chrissy, take pictures, and have a great time!

Happy Thanksgiving!

Happy Thanksgiving to all!
Cherie it's always lovely when you pop your head in and say hi! Give my love to Mur and DS and wish all a Happy Thanksgiving from me. We will certainly be taking loads of pics and will share them with all.
MsJAR......hello and welcome! Come on in and sit a while and join the conversation as the mood takes you.
I've got a few more things to do which includes getting my px filled before I start my very long weekend tomorrow when I head for the city. Going to spend the extra day getting my hair cut and catching up with the DD's and grands. So excited!!
Love n hugs. Chrissy -
Hi everyone, on this cold rainy night in NC. Weather's been horrible today, a cold rain with high of around 40F, and then in early evening the wind really blew hard and the temp increased suddenly to 63F. Very strange. Now it's back around 40.
Welcome Ms. JAR. Come right on in!
Good to see you, Cherie! It sounds like you'll be having a good Thanksgiving with your son and the grands. And hooray for no cooking!
Great news about your pictures selling, Chrissy! They're so lovely I knew they'd sell. Have fun with DD and grandkids, too!
And Alyson, you have fun in Sydney!
Yay, Nancy!! Mammo's are so nerve-wracking and I'm so happy you had the kind we all want!
Hugs to all,
Kathy -
I have been busy too with cooking and cleaning. I have an appointment with my gyn. Doctor tomorrow. I always seem to wait forever in her office. It was the only opening she had until next year for non emergency visits. Our weather has been perfect. -
Oh my is it ever cold here! Down to 22F tonight. The heat pump's running so often I can see the dollar signs adding up.
The turkey's done and carved, sweet potato casserole and cornbread dressing made and ready to cook tomorrow, broccoli salad made. DD and DIL are bringing mashed potatoes, rolls, and green beans, and I have the sweet potato pie and pound cake thawing. Tomorrow we'll make the gravy and tea and after tomorrow we get to MY favorite part, turkey sandwiches! Sad to go through all this just to get a homemade turkey sandwich.
Hope all of us have a good day tomorrow, both in this country and elsewhere too!
Kathy -
Kathy your menu sounds delicious! Hope you enjoy your special day with the family.
Those turkey sandwiches sure are the best!
First stage of my weekend away accomplished! I'm in the city and the head has a new do. Tomorrow Sydney! I can't wait to catch up with all the girls!
Love n hugs. Chrissy -

Good one! -
Hi everyone, I am not sure if I should be here. I am 60. I have been for a mammo and ultrasound and I go for a biopsy on Tuesday. I found a large lump two weeks ago Sunday. All I know so far is that it is not a cyst. I should no more next Friday. I have two wonderful son's at home. Both are looking for work right now. They both just completed a seasonal position as actors at a haunted attraction. They have worked there for a number of years around their school work. My husband and I have been married 29 years this year and we live out in the country on a couple of acres and have a ton of animals.
I specifically wanted to speak to Dogs and Jogs because I work for a bank. Do not let them intimidate you. Stand your ground. Remember they are there to serve you, not the other way around. They are supposed to bend over backwards to help you. I know a lot of the larger banks including the one I work have poor reputations for customer service but it is not the way it is supposed to be. Stand your ground and be firm. I am a systems analyst at the bank. The tellers are poorly paid and quite often poorly trained. Just be firm and stick with it. Good Luck -
Welcome Tekwriter. Do you have multiples of your animals? Like lots of cows and an assortment of other animals? Be sure to let us know how your biopsy turns out. I think waiting for those results is the hardest part of the whole journey. Good luck that yours will be benign. -
Welcome, Tekwriter. Yes, the waiting is really awful and here you have to go through it for a long weekend too. Hope the biopsy goes well for you. Just plunge right in at any time--we're glad to have you!
Kathy -
welcome tekwriter! the waiting is really hard. And waiting for results over holidays is the worst. But we are here for you. Ask any questions. I was dxed on Dec 2nd 2 years ago.
Hope the Aussie girls are having fun!
Hope everyone who over ate like me this weekend are recovering. I just sent most of the leftovers off with my DS. I start my diet on Tuesday. You all will hear all about it. -
Hi girls! Welcome tekwriter! Waiting for results suks big time but try not to let it get to you.........here's hoping all goes well with your biopsy. Please let us know how you get on.
Finally back at my DDs after a wonderful weekend in Sydney with the Aussie girls from BCO. There were so many shared laughs and long conversations.
Glad to hear that all had a wonderful Thanksgiving........now to look forward to Christmas......lol.
Love n hugs. Chrissy -
Chrissy, no giant crochet projects for Christmas, OK? Sounds like a great weekend. -
I'm only 52, but I think I have a little sense; can I post here? -
Of course, after all you are older than some on these boards.
-
And have enough sense to come here!
Leah -
hi Ziggypop! You are very welcome to post here anytime you like. Great bunch of girls here and all stages so if you have questions ask away.....there is sure to be someone that can answer you and the support here us just perfect!
Still recovering from my weekend.......lol......I think I overdid, as usual......lol.....but I don't regret it one single bit as I had a ball! Got the ENT appointment this afternoon or I would have been home last night......at least. Don't have to come down again this week unless she want more tests......sigh.......I am determined to take t easy next week......we'll see f that happens then.......lol.
Got to go deliver some donuts to grand and then head to see the doc. I'll let you know what she says when I either get beck to DD's or hem later this evening.
Have a good one all!
Love n hugs. Chrissy -
Chrissy, go glad you had such a good time! And glad to have you back too. Good luck at the ENT.
Welcome, Ziggypop! Glad to have you, so just chime in anytime.
DH has a cold and sore throat and no one in the history of humankind has ever been so sick, to hear him tell it! He stayed home from church today and has rested (watching football) all day. I went to church and it was the "Hanging of the Greens", decorating the church for Christmas. Everyone in the congregation got Chrismons and filed around the tree hanging them on. It would be interesting to know who made these delicate, beautiful ornaments so many years ago. They're carefully wrapped and packed away each year, and are treasured.
Hope all had a good weekend.
Kathy
