Hoping all in the path of this destructive weather are safe. Treacherous, reports on news speak of terrible destruction.

    Jackie - are you ok?

things look very grim in towns around or near Jackie's - all digits crossed for her, hope prayin' folk will be at it too!

c4c - navigators are doing a wonderful job in MA, basically helping people move from Romneycare to Obamacares, a much better situation.

Without further ado....I/we came through the storm which in some ways was pretty anti-climatic in our woods than what was predicted. We did have some pretty fierce winds a few times, but not one drop of the rain that was supposed to pour down all day. I did hear that a few places around us ( we are in the woods between two fair sized ravines ( seems to keep us from major problems to a degree ) had some issues....even some in the town itself. I don't think it could have been too much though as it was only a small blurb and no pictures. Still, some areas which are 1/2 hr. or less from us did have some major damages.

We are so fortunate here......all we really lost were the last batch of leaves off of the trees. We did have to go out about 4 times yesterday and clean huge mounds of leaves off our deck. We use the kitchen door there for coming and going as we have a huge screen room on front of the house for the extra cats and a couple of them know how to open the front door which has remained locked now for years.

Bren you will relate..............lots of leaf blowing and raking for me today, but due to the storm will be the last leaf cleaning for the year. My cousin will come over some time this week and mulch what is out in the middle, but that still will leave hours of work for me today and some tomorrow after work as well. Wednesday I will have to take Dh to the V.A. in Marion for his follow-up on his hernia repair surgery. Not looking forward to it, but one of those pretty much have -to things. Just seems that I seldom get as much ( could I please slow-down ) time as I would like but being busy I'm sure helps to keep me healthy.

Hope everyone in the path of this monstrous storm didn't get anything they won't be able to deal with though I know there is some un-reality attached. Just would like to think --- two wks. before the holiday --- that everyone will still come through.

C4C - Every time I think they have sunk to a new low, they keep digging. I swear to God, they don't give a flying Fig Newton about the uninsured. It's like they say, "Cancer? I don't want my premium to go up. So, good luck with all that. " Ugh

Jackie - "phew" - big sigh of relief. Reading about Washington IL, which doesn't seem all that far fro you, really terrifying how destructive weather can be. Glad Mother Nature helped bring the leaves down so they can be raked, blown? and mulched. Much less weight on the trees.

Nothing much seems to be happening "in the East" - at least not in Western MA. I have to drive to Boston tomorrow for my annual & wondering if it will be my last check in at Dana Farber. Hard to believe it's been almost 7 years( January) since diagnosis, almost a year off my 5 on Arimidex ( which in hindsight I think was more difficult than the Red Devil DD chemotherapy), still walk with some of my eyes looking over my shoulder, kinda expect that's permanent, and seems to PEAK at these appointment. Even tho they don't do anything but talk, putter with a stethoscope, and poke around a little. Why should that be scarey? Don't know, but it kinda is....we all know what they're, ah, "looking" for...still feel pretty lucky to be on this side of the 7 years.

THINKING OF ENJOYFUL....and CHICKADEE....sending good sorts to any who need them..

I was reading C4C's article while listening to some anti-Common Core idealogue on Chuck Todd this morning. The guy's arguments against Common Core were specious, but as Chuck Todd kept pressing, it came down to wanting tax money to go to private schools, charter, etc. . It was absolutely not about the merits of Common Core. They can't argue against the merits of ACA, so they resort to tactics as described in the article C4C posted.

Everything, with them, comes back to privatization of government services, anti-nationalistic, less taxes and less regulation. Oh, and one more, if it's Obama's idea, it must not be accepted. Oh, and they don't care about the 47%! The problem comes when they try to argue a policy that meets a worthy objective and pretend that they have an alternate and better way to get to the same objective. They don't, because they don't have these objectives. Drives me nuts, because they're never pressed on this by the press!

Providing healthcare to all is not one of their core principles. They like the status quo and could care less about the 40-50 million uninsured. Core math and science standards are meaningless if they can't control on a local level what goes into their children's heads. They certainly can't argue the merits of the ACA to the currently uninsured, so they resort to these smear tactics.

Jackie - so glad you survived the rough weather!

OMG Carrots --- just came in for a break and saw the Raw Story article. Glad you dropped in the link. I can't imagine wanting a paycheck so badly that I would sit ( even if its lying through my teeth Faux News ) in front of loads of idiots ( what if a couple actually aren't ) spewing something so ignorant. Should I run right out and get pg while my Medicare will still pay for it. Of course I am 68 and will only be 88 when my darling newborn is 20. Isn't that great !!!! Blithering idiot comes to mind for displaying such a lack of basic knowledge for a female.

Well, there is something about the Repugs/Tehadists that just seems to turn your brain into nutty putty. BIL was talking to Dh the other day and a sm. amt ( Dh usually refuses to discuss with his Repug family ) of politics came up. BIL said....well I'm no longer a Repug or a Democrat....so of course Dh thought Independent. No......turns out BIL is kissing up to the Tehadists. Apparently he is in some strange denial about just what party he is adoring at the moment. Told Dh what a sweet fellow Ted Cruz is gag-gag-gag and likely will be, along with the current Tehadists members BIL is kissing up too. When the pressure comes out later on for do good funds......we will see how fond BIL will be then. He complained bitterly ( though remaining one for a long time ) about how often the local Repug party would hit him up. Once they feel they have had the welcome mat out long enough.....it will start all over I'm sure.

sleepy day for me. CT scan this morning and a careful drive home to my lovely bed. I could barely stay awake in the waiting room. Some days are like that.

    Results tomorrow.
