Now wait a minute....I go off to the mall with DH and the ladies on here have gone to 50 shades of red.

Okay Liefie...here is my diagnosis. Been there done that with e gallbladder. But when I was waiting for surgery I had a episode that was very much like a gallbladder attack. The anesthesiologist gave me some dilaudin to get rid of a headache and the result was a extremely painful esophageal spasm...the technical term is the sphincter of Odi that leads from the esophagus into the stomach. They gave me some pepcid and then more versed to shut me up. But my BP dropped, I lost my color, and my legs were uncontrollable shaking. This has happen randomly since my gallbladder surgery, usually after eating something, See if the symptoms are similar...the pain is right in the center of the chest.

Dakota...You are blessed to have the energy and 2 darlings to be a Mom for. Wow Hockey!!! That is awesome.

So I going to start unpacking this "fake" christmas tree...but I do have some candles. HO HO HO

    Love to all,

You ladies on here have made me laugh so much with the last few posts!!!

Liefie - I am not too surprized that you are not into the shackle thing. I haven't read 50 shades, so you are not alone there. So glad to hear that all is well for the South Africa trip - things seem to have fallen into place for you after a lot of hard work and emotional energy. It truly is amazing that after only one year you feel well enough to travel such a long way - you will be just fine. Yes, there is life after the treatments for breast cancer!!!

Edi - you are so hilarious - I just can't imagine you being depressed! Sure hope that you will be feeling better soon. You mentioned that you had healing prayer at church at one time - I go for that regularly at my church and I must say that I find it most beneficial. We need all the help we can get in whatever form it takes. So glad that you have a nice new oven or stove as we call it here in Canada - I need one, but just don't want to take the time to go out and shop for one.

I had a wonderful time in Mexico - the weather was glorious - I went into the ocean every day - lovely warm weather. Many walks on the beach, a sunset cruise around the Sea of Cortez, lots of food, and I even had Pina Colada three times. The greatest thing was not having to prepare food. I read 3 books and simply relaxed. Tomorrow I am on a full day silent retreat with my mindfulness based meditation group, so that should be interesting - I have never done anything like this before!!

To everyone else - enjoy your weekend. Embrace each day and live it to the best of your ability. Each day is indeed a gift.

Hi Ladies - just lounging in bed for a few more minutes before hitting the gym.

Had to laugh re: the turkey baster discussion and how Liefie's question so innocently set it off - found myself thinking "Oh no - please don't ask!".

Edi, I empathize with you on the DH front. Things finally got so bad between my DH and me that we are BOTH going to counseling, and I think it's helping. My health is not the only stressor in our lives - he's in a terrible employment situation (think he may actually retire in January) and his mother also has cancer. One of the positives re: counseling is that I've realized he doesn't talk to anybody, except me, about any of these issues - and now he has a chance to work through them with a man roughly his own age. Do you think your DH might consider going through some counseling with you? Of course, mine only went initially under the guise of it being about MY issues, but now he's committed to it. I waited a long time to find the man for me (almost 50 when we were married just over 2 years ago), so I hope we can get back on track. I'd rather live 50 Shades of Grey than read about it!

Dakota, as Nihahi says, it's financially tough supporting a goalie! Great pic - hope he has a great season!

Had some friends over last evening and watched Carol Burnett episodes and "Julie and Julia" - it was definitely an inspiration to cook, but not necessarily cook healthy. Craving an omelet at the moment ...

    Have a great weekend everybody!

Dakota - has DS always been a goalie or is he trying it out this year? Lots of responsibility, he looks great in the gear

Liefie/Edie/Nihahi et al - I am going to stay well way from talking about turkey basters and fifty shades of anything

Liefie - hope DH is OK and no more pain, glad US was negative

Caitlin - my lounging in bed this a.m. Was way longer than I should have, with the snow and wind Here today I felt like hibernating. Now I still need to fit in a treadmill session, have been working on Christmas crafts for the grandkids , made some progress. There were two funerals today for people that were special to me - Carla's and another older lady that was like a second Mom - thinking of both of their families as I went about my day. Highlight of my day - my youngest granddaughter laughed and my son sent me a video - it took her awhile but it was well worth the wait.

Momof2 - is the tree up?

Adagio - your time in Mexico sounds wonderful - glad you could get away

Nihahi - hope you are not too tired from the class, what a day to be out

Morwenna - watched the you tube videos of the 'Rhythm of the Rockies' performance in Hawaii - no wonder you won :)

Hi to everyone I didn't mention, better get moving again

    girls, you make me laugh.!

Liefie being oh so innocent, then boom, Nihahi comes and twists it all around ( love it, something I would do) so glad its you girls being 'norty' ! (normally I get in trouble for that kind of thing! ) Winking

I haven't read 50 shades, going to wait until the movie comes out. All my girlfriends have read it and I think I know the book well enough anyways to get the gist of it all (Winking) much like Caitlin, rather be 'living that' than reading about it...LOL.

Well Sunday night here, best I head off to bed to start the working week. DS has a farm excursion on Wednesday, wouldn't you know, its going to rain !! We are travelling on a double decker bus (London style Edi!!) then off to milk a cow !!!

Enjoy your Sunday ladies xoxo hugs to you all xoxo

Just after 6 here on Sunday morning. Slept on and off - DS travelling kept me awake, but he's just been happily reunited with his fiancee and her family, so can relax now.

Caitlin, good for you and DH on the counselling. Most men are notoriously reluctant to go, so you are fortunate that he went. Hope everything get sorted out for you guys.

Websister, Nihahi's been quiet since Friday. Hope she made it home safely yesterday with that weather you've been having. With her being so naughty you never know what mischief she can get herself into, and what colour shades and shackles may be involved . . . lol. I went back on this thread and read all posts by Carla. Still wondering how this could have happened so suddenly, and how the docs could have missed it. It could just as well have been any of us, you know? No guarantees, just setting one foot in front of the other, and moving forward as best we can. My heart is breaking for her family and her young children.

Adagio, after careful consideration I've decided not to read the famous 'Shades' books. On a serious note, I've read reviews that it is really badly written, won't win any literary awards - lol. So with my background as teacher of English literature I know that I will only be irritated by the bad writing, and ditch the book after the first chapter anyway. All that kinkiness is also not for me - just have no interest whatsoever in what other people do behind closed doors, period. Pretty boring, eh?

Traii, the farm excursion sounds like fun, and DS will sooo enjoy it. Just take an umbrella for the rain, and go for it. It's just rain - we are supposed to get snow here today - lol. So happy I'm leaving on Wednesday! Hope all the snow for this winter falls while I'm gone.

Finally finished hemming dress yesterday, and got that off my back. Life is really so strange sometimes. Ultrasound showed clear gallbladder for DH on Friday. He and colleagues are doing an ultrasound course this whole weekend. ER got an ultrasound machine, and they all have to learn how to use it. So yesterday he offered to be a model when machine was demonstrated, and voila - the radiologists presenting the course detected sludge, and what can be a stone forming, in his gallbladder. The other radiologist must have missed it. I'm relieved that we now know what causes the pain. DH will have to be very careful what he eats till he can get surgery when we come back. Will really cramp his style and wine drinking in S.A. - LOL!

Just a quick pop in for now....I'm really NOT the "risky-frisky" type of gal.....I just thought after the carla news, we all needed a bit of fun! Shades of grey....NOOOOOTTTTTT!!!!!!

liefie....good news about son..glad he's landed and looked after. Hmm....hubby....maybe that "sludge" recipe would help???? I'm not very knowledgeable about gallbladder stuff....what does he now have to be careful about eating????

momof2....hope you're nice and toasty again....it's friggin cold here.

websister...baby's laughs are contagious, aren't they!

traii...fun in the mud! kids won't care....just make sure YOU know the diff between mud and cowpatties!!!

not even going to try to mention everyone...yesterday was exhausting....commute from HELL in full whiteout conditions, intensive all day class, and a drive home in only slightly better conditions.

Love to all....mentioned and not mentioned.....LOVE YOU LADIES!

Okay, so the great plans of a 9 ft" tree and all the HO HO HO...are Bah Humbug. Cleared out the area of the living room. Assembled the tree, and Bingo..one section of lights do not work. And the tree really does not look that majestic. Tried to call the help line, but the polite recording said they would try to get back with me within 48 hours. I politely told them where they could pick up their tree. So now I will get out my little purple tree from last year. I will hang the doggie stockings on the mantel, because last year, Miss Heidi was so depressed that there was no stocking for her...and I felt like the worst dog Mom.

Things happen for a reason. That is how I try to look at things. Of course they look much better with anti anxiety pills, and anti depressants. I just feel that this week is going to be the beginning of another long journey that many of you have been through. So now it is off to Kohls to return this crappy tree.

Ps. Liefie, have your husband stay away from avocados, and fried foods...those were my culprit. However, I am glad the source of pain has been discovered.

    Have a good day all..Love,

    Jenifer

Does anyone know how to get chicken poop out of a white carpet? Charlotte and Princess escaped this morning while I was still snoozing and they have quite obviously visited the living and dining room. ~sigh~ I should have known. Usually their squawking and Ewok sounds wake me up but they were strangely silent this morning. That's because they were wandering all over the house, having a gay old time. There's also *evidence* on Benny's little kitty stand in the front living room window. How they got up there I'll never know, but I hope to heck no one noticed a live chicken standing in my front window when they drove to church this morning. Benny does not alert me when they escape because he's so used to them now. I came home from my ICanSleep program on Thursday night, opened the front door, and there to greet me was Benny and Charlotte, standing together in the entranceway. If people knew what goes on behind these doors they'd have me committed.

Speaking of the ICanSleep program, I asked Dr. Speca about copyright and he said there is no copyright on the booklet yet so it is available for photocopying. He encouraged people to buy The Insomnia Workbook by Silberman as this program is based on the research of that book. So Sbelizabeth, if you want a copy I can send you down one. Nihahi, I will bring you a copy when I see you next.

Nihahi, glad you got through the blizzard in one piece. From watching the news I can see that lots of people weren't so fortunate. That turkey baster conversation had me howling! Thanks for that!

Dakota, DGS (dear goalie son) is absolutely adorable! I didn't know you were having hot flashes? Is it from the Tamox? I have been on Tamox since Oct 24 but no flashes yet, just makes it hard to breathe.

Caitlin, LOVE Carol Burnett. Did you watch the episode where she wears the drapes and curtain rod in Went With The Wind? (I think that's what it's called) "I saw it in the window and just had to have it"

Edi, I am stunned the doc said no to antidepressants? My doc is begging me to take them. Maybe the counsellor will recommend them and doc will have to listen up. I know St. John's Wort is helpful for moderate depression, and you can buy that OTC. But I'd be pressuring the doc to listen up. Loved the story about the chicken lady. I can't imagine 60 of the little monsters, at least not in the house hahaha! I have my hands full with two.  If I had an acreage I would LOVE to have chickens. They have little personalities and are quite adorable. I have little rubber balls in their room and they play with them all the time. And Charlotte loves to grab the coffee meaure and run off with it, getting Princess all riled up. Jealous of the new oven. Mine burns everything on one side and undercooks on the other.

Liefie, I hear ya on the 50 shades book. I have no interest in reading it either as they say it is poorly written and gratuitous. Plus, doesn't the guy manipulate the girl or something? As an advocacy person, that would aggravate me beyond description. I watched some stupid movie once called 9 1/2 Weeks and couldn't even get through it because some guy was manipulating some girl who didn't have the backbone to stand up to him. Ahhhh! I'd have kicked him to the curb yesterday! Anyway, I digress. This is why I'm single haha! I have zero tolerance for BS (unless you're a chicken, a cat, a horse, a skunk, a rabbit, or a pigeon).

Jenifer, what is the little purple tree ?! LOL

This time last year I was having my first chemo, the one that put me in the hospital for 5 days. Ugh. Sadly, I don't feel that much better than then, energy-wise. After what happened to dear Carla I am convinced that the cancer has spread to my lungs and spine as I have been in discomfort for days now. I am going to call the mechanic tho, just as soon as the weather improves a bit. I need to get my battery-challenged, flat-tired sports car going and off the road, and Bill is the guy to do it. I am going to make a BIG pot of homemade spaghetti sauce (he's Italian) and invite him to stay for dinner (I've been told by his niece that he'll do anything for food). The furnace guy says the furnace is def on its way out, but that's what they told me 3 years ago too. Need $400.00 downpayment so it ain't gonna happen this year. I do have a space heater if the furnace dies LOL. And I will ask Bill what he thinks about the furnace.

Okay, off I go to water plants and finish laundry, pending energy. Hope everyone has a wonderful day <3<3 <

Feeling down. All this week I have been watching and feeling a muscle twitch (fasciculation) in my right thigh (quads muscle). It is not continuous, but goes on for spells, and I normally notice it when I am sitting down. Last night I was awake for part of the night with it twitching away.

I am obeying the two-week rule, but it is making me anxious. I had some drama this week with my bosses accepting my (doctor's) return to work plan. (They've agreed for me to start tomorrow now!) So maybe its an anxiety twitch ... I've had eyelid twitches when stressed/tired before, but never my leg!

I have felt flat and weary for a week now, and put it down to post-vacation blues, so I told myself to get off the couch and do my 30 minute workout DVD. I have done it a few times, and it always makes me sweat, but today I had to stop it 2-3 times to rest, then eventually gave up and crawled back on the couch.

Not sure what's going on here, but it ain't me, and I don't like it!!!. :(

Morwenna, don't forget you just got back from a trip to Hawaii. You were busy, busy, busy and are probably still experiencing the effects of that. I'd bet dollars to donuts that is what your fatigue is about. The twitching could originate from your back, especially because you said it changes when you sit down. I totally hear you on the fears (I am going through that myself), but I'll bet this will settle down on its own. You've had a very busy few weeks, Carla's passing (which sent us all for a loop), and now return to work. Be kind to
