    RL - thank you.

I guess I'm one of the few who haven't ( yet) heard that phrase, Rainbow Bridge. Special. Very special. I can hear Kermit singing my favorite Rainbow Song.

I stood by your bed last night, I came to have a peep.

I could see that you were crying, You found it hard to sleep. I whined to you softly as you brushed away a tear,

    "It's me, I haven't left you, I'm well, I'm fine, I'm here."

I was close to you at breakfast, I watched you pour the tea, you were thinking of the many times, your hands reached down to me.

I was with you at the shops today, Your arms were getting sore.

I longed to take your parcels, I wish I could do more.

I was with you at my grave today, You tend it with such care.

I want to re-assure you, that I'm not lying there.

I walked with you towards the house, as you fumbled for your key.

I gently put my paw on you, I smiled and said " it's me."

You looked so very tired, and sank into a chair.

I tried so hard to let you know, that I was standing there.

It's possible for me, to be so near you everyday.

To say to you with certainty, "I never went away."

You sat there very quietly, then smiled, I think you knew...

In the stillness of that evening, I was very close to you.

The day is over... I smile and watch you yawning

and say "good-night, God bless, I'll see you in the morning."

And when the time is right for you to cross the brief divide,

I'll rush across to greet you and we'll stand, side by side.

I have so many things to show you, there is so much for you to see.

Be patient, live your journey out...then come home to be with me....

Blue, I think that is the first time I've seen that and it is a very beautiful piece........as wonderful as the Bridge. I do think we are only bound by the restrictions that we give ourselves and that ANY truly loving spirit can spend some time with us...if we are open.

I'm sure I'll copy it and keep it near.

Blue and Jackie, I am seriously falling apart, balling my eyes out, after reading those quotes. I think they mean that love can never die. Love finds its own here or in eternity.

Sunny....I too love Kermit's song. I recall vaguely when it came out.....sometimes in the early to mid 80's I think and it was one of those that without necessarily meaning too, I would find myself singing and humming along to. I don't quite know if I miss that time ( well probably only parts ) but Jim Henson made those lovable characters so real. My two children were Sesame Street addicts as I'm sure many were.................but the album years later had characters that for me had grown up. I still see them that way.

Just a little piece of what Kathleen Sebelius had to go through with Renee Ellmers ( R-NC ). I just don't know that I could have kept my composure at all. I think some of the hardest questions you will ever answer are the ones that are derived from those who had their light bulb burn out some time ago.

Wow. I just can't see the leap in "values" that she made.

Sometimes the only response that works (and makes a point) is the non-response. All it takes is a look that says "Are you insane, Ellmers?".

As for values, this idjut simply doesn't have any worth keeping.....

Another item that is just mind boggling to me. It must be true that Tehadists just don't have the capacity to SEE and COMPREHEND the way the things they do and say, affect so much of the rest of the world. If you are in Washington these days.....you can almost bet you are under quite a huge microscope. Since they ( Tehadists ) can't see or feel what others see and feel....they ignore the whole thing as though it will make no difference, and seem totally un-affected by the fact that memories are long, as well as the ire an discontent their actions stir up. Always hard to predict off year elections but were I any of the hard right.....I'd be really upset.

THANK YOU JACKIE - I haven't heard that Rainbow song in years. Now I know where to find it.

The other thing on that same YouTube page, is Big Bird singing "It isn't easy being green" at Jim Henson's memorial service at the Cathedral of St. John the Divine, in New York city, of course, Jim Henson was the voice of Kermit, and there wasn't a dry eye in the house when Big Bird sang this as a tribute. Jim Henson was only 53, died so suddenly, infection just overcame him, they thought it was just "the flu" when he felt ill, a few days later in hospital he died. Such a loss.....

    Beautiful, beautiful cactus. Thanks Blue.

And a bit on faith issues. I wouldn't have thought I would enjoy a Pope's message or be shaking my head in agreement though most of his words. It just comes down to good old fashioned common sense which seems to be so difficult for the rt. to find. http://www.addictinginfo.org/2013/10/21/pope-francis-right-wing-christians/ The thing made sooo much sense to me.

If you think that the biggest terrorist threat to the United States comes from Islamic extremism, think again.

Carrots....somehow I must have become really jaded. I was not at all surprised with what is going on in the Insurance companies however; many of the thoughts I have about how scurrilous they are I can't put on paper here. They should be heavily fined at the least.

RL....that is an extreme eye-opener. I did recognize some names and incidents, but had no idea there were that many. Absolutely frightening in so many ways.

RL - thank you for that link. SPLC, Morris Dees are real heroes. They have done such good work, for such a long, long time. I'm always in awe of anyone who can keep up that kind of commitment. As I've said many times, I don't think there is a difference between extremism/fundamentalism in any of the fringe movements. Surprises me, always, that some folks can see it in one group, and not in another.

When I think of Islam, I often think of the Sufi, and my favorite poet, Rumi. Tho I've only read the Coleman Barks translations.

Here is an interesting link to an interactive map with the FACTS (not regressive vomit) about who will be affected by the SNAP cuts. So for those who say, "They should get jobs" notice that the overwhelming majority of food aid in each state consists of elderly, disabled and children. And, although this isn't included in the totals, about 50% of households that receive food aid have an employed family member - meaning that they make too little to provide adequate nutrition for their households without help. In other reports, approximately 900,000 veterans and 5,000 active-duty military households will lose SNAP benefits entirely People who celebrate the cuts in SNAP or who say they are not that bad are people who think it is perfectly fine that children, old people, disabled people, veterans and service memberes and their families go hungry. What kind of person does that make them?
