My oncologist and PS has done breast exams. Not for the last couple months.
Pat welcome back from Vegas. Do u think you still might have time to meet me somewhere in Brooklyn for coffee? Because I AM IN BROOKLYN RIGHT NOW. So excited. Took a red eye last night. Was busy today and am going out the door in a cpl minutes to the Rockefeller Plaza 30 rock and time square. Am leaving Tues morning.
On my way out now. Bye
Carla -
Have fun you if you meet up!
-
Carla, will send yo a PM with a number to call me...as well as an email address.
Shoot, in Manhattan! My hubby took the kids to see the Rangers at Madison Square Garden...I can't stand violence so won't watch hockey. I could have hitched a ride! Lol
Ok, advice needed. I am hopefully meeting with my sister tomorrow. (My NICE sister) She asked for any updates regarding my diagnosis as she will be seeing her doctor on Tuesday.
Do I tell her of the possible hiccups? My testing of lung and abdomen will be later in the week...I have no idea when I will have results..I imagine at least a week. So do I "bring her into my world of worry"? Or wait for the facts? Now that I am typing this I am thinking let it wait?
Ok, I'm going to PM Carla now...a bright spot for sure!
Pat -
Oh, Pat.... I have a "nice" sister & have told her almost everything.... & put myself in your situation.....
I have told her everythin (pretty much) thus far & I would tell my sister the rest with the side note that EVERYONE is different... I would just personally feel obligated, so she can ask her doc the questions that I DIDN'T know to ask..... just my 2 cents. Good luck!
I hope u and Carla can hook up!

I forgot to mention.
I had a great chat with my sis last night and I posted in FB "love my sis to bits, lots of laughs"
She posted... "yep, squirrel"....
I didnt know what she was talking about & texted her..... she remembered the "you know when youre in chemo when....... " joke " from months ago! You all remember that one right? Did pat post it?! She says that when she sees a squirrel, she thinks of me & giggles everytime.... I had forgotten, but she said she remembers every one of our conversations....
Love her to bits!
Have a good night, all!
-
thanks Lori.
I have photocopies of my reports in my pocketbook....still debating, but ready if I decide.
I PM'd Carla...Carla! Get out of the city and check your messages! Lol
Pat -
Haha...
-
Didn't get back from The City until late last night. It was great. I'm invigorated.
Pat a few years ago, during a breast examination, the doctor felt something the he felt warranted a mammogram. I chose not to tell my daughters. Didn't want them to worry about it. So I told them after I got the results back from the mammogram, which was negative at that time. My girls were upset with me for not telling them from the beginning what was going on. So I decided from then on I would be up front.
Looking forward to meeting you today Pat.)
Lorrie I remember laughing at that squirrel joke. Just don't remember the joke.Darn this brain of mine. Glad you have such a great sister relationship.
Love to all - Carla -
the squirrel joke...you know your a cancer patient when.... It looks like a squirrel exploded in your underwear.
Or something like that...in reference to hair loss from chemo. Lorrie, I think it's great your sister laughs every time she sees a squirrel!
Carla, great meeting you in person today. What energy and positivity. I loved hearing about your family. Next time you are in town perhaps I will DRIVE YOU INTO MANHATTAN,! That's an awesome, memorable experience!
I decided to NOT share the news with my sister for now as it is only speculation. My dad had a thing about not calling someone with bad news at night if it could wait til morning...."let the person get a good nights sleep". I haven't had a good nights sleep since getting this report, no need to make my sister "suffer" awaiting test results.
Pat -
Patty - how exciting that you and Carla got to meet up.
I don't know what I"d do in your boat. I didn't tell my dad about my appointment with the specialist for the lump and then 2 days later I'm calling him to tell him I had cancer. He actually started crying and dropped the phone and had to call me back later. I wished I had given him a heads up on what was going on.
So my 3 best friends took me out on Saturday night to celebrate "kicking cancer" - I had 4 glasses of wine which is the most I've had all year! It was fun to go out but pretty exhausted and I must admit that I was REALLY envious of all their long hairThey all three have long straight hair and no matter what I did, i just couldn't feel attractive
Oh well - it was still nice to get away...
I have a job interview today so I'm dusting off the wig - I don't want to not get picked for having cancer...wish me luck - I need to get away from these Saturdays of working!!!
x -
Kate, wishing you all the best at your interview. Getting out with friends is great!
Pat -
Best of luck with the interview, Kate!!!!!
Glad you had fun with your gurlfriends.... ! You deserved it!
-
Pat really enjoyed meeting you. You are such a pleasure to be with. Thank you for taking the time to pick me up and going to lunch. I will take you up on that DRIVE to Manhattan. Ha ha.......My mom also taught me not to give bad news in the evening if it could wait tell the morning. Praying for a good nights rest and good results fir you and your husband.
Kate prayers for you on your job interview and for weekends off. You need a break.
Pat, my daughter enjoyed left overs yesterday and this morning. Excellent meal.
Peace to all of us - Carla -
People keep asking if I am in remission or if I am cancer free. Am I in remission??? I should be cancer free, they took the whole breast right? Maybe it is chemo brain but I look at the stupefied and just say yes.
Body aches killed me yesterday from the waist down. Fortunately every day hasn't been like that in the short time I have been on Anastrazole.
That is awesome that Pat and Carla got to meet!!! Good luck today Kate! Keep calm Pat, things will be ok. Lorrie you're almost done! -
I forgot (chemo brain) to say that every time I have seen my oncologist he does a breast exam.
I read an article that says that chemo brain is worse from the hormone therapy pills we are taking than from chemo and can last for up to a year after we finish with them. -
Teresa,
I asked my oncologist about my status...and of course I can't remember....I think she said NED, no evidence of disease. Well, I know she said NED, I don't know if she used cancer free or remission.
After chemo was done and had my first oncologist visit she did breast exam. I think she will each time I see her.
Chemo brain? I'm going to run with that...I'm tired of everything, maybe I will just "forget it all".
Carla, haven't touched my paltry leftovers yet...maybe I will have them for lunch tomorrow...
Pat -
I havent had a breast exam since just before surgery... back I april & I have Web to say... I havent done one on myself either.
Im sorry, but I dont want to find anything new! & im also on sorry to saythat if I do..... I may opt to do nothing more. Im not sure I could "survive" another diagnosis....
Imbarely surviving this one... so....
Not looking forward to my surgeon apt tomorrow right before my "next to lastrads"
-
Saw my surgeon today., l he did an exam on the good boobie & nothing to report! Yay!
Cornered him again about margins.., "am I good?".... he couldnt find my 2nd path report.. from 2nd surgery.....I said what path report? I requested them all and the last on said "positive margins"
He called in his assistant and she went on a hunt to find it for me.... "tissue shows NO evidence of carcinoma....."
After he apologized profusely for my anxiety... i started crying (from relief! I felt like i let my breath out like i had been holding it for 2 months) & my last zap is tomorrow!
Sleep good my lovely ladies.... I feel like tomorrow is the beginning of working my way back to a normal life again.... ill betcha I cry saying goodbye to my awesome techs tomorrow! I dont care... happy tears!!!!!!
Lorrie- 33/34
-
Lorrie,
Congrats! I'm sure you needed that good cry to get rid of that anxiety. Let the tears flow tomorrow too....you've been through so much. Last one! Woo hoo!
Pat -
Thanks, Pat.... feeling really emotiinal tonight... like... what will I do if I dont have cancer to bitch about.... UH..., LIVE! Haha
Seriously though.... you and others are still going through your stuff & I feel like shit for being so happy, but I know you would all feel the same.... we all deserve this final moment of "ah ha" and we will all get there..... and I cant wait for each and every last one of us on this thread to post stuff like.., "went to walmart today.... got a good deal on paper plates....
I know ... deeeeeep down I could not have survived any of this without you ladies! Sure. I have family. But you guys know what ive been thru better than my docs!
My surgeon asked me today if ive been in contact with the hispital cancer liason.
I told him straight up.... "no.... I belong to the may chemo thread on BC.org & it helped me survuve this ......"
-
Awh Lorrie, I"m so happy for you that treatments are coming to an end for you. A time to celebrate.))))
Teresa didn't want to hear that about chemo brain. Oh well, I'll probably forget.... My oncologist said that I was cancer free as soon as I had my mastectomy. She said the treatments were to...?...can't remember what she said. Good grief.
Carla -
Carla I love your last post, it made me LOL!
Lorrie happy day today!!! YAY! -
transvaginal ultrasound and abdominal ultrasound done today. They called with results already...all is good. I wasn't as concerned about today, felt it was a baseline for Tamoxifen use.
Tomorrow is my Cat Scan of lungs and MRI of abdomen. Picked up prescription for Ativan today, I never tried it before, hoping it makes me calm.
Pat -
Pat.... Ativan is awesome!! It will help you mellow... think about bringing someone with you to drive... haha... Good luck tomorrow!!
I had a dream last night about my last treatment.... LOL - yesterday after my treatment, the tech says.."see you tomorrow for the grand fanale"....
I dreamed that during my last treatment the machine started to spark and explode and malfunction & I woke up completely freaked out..... ha ha Can definitely do without a "grand fanale" -
34/34...Lorrie
-
what's that Lorrie? Are you done? It was hard to read the print! Lol
CONGRATULATIONS! You have made it through! Wishing you all the best!
Pat -
