4-yr Anniversary
Hi all
It's been a while since I've been here and it feels so good to be back .
I just marked 4-yrs since my diagnosis on 10/29. Yay! (BTW what date is used for survival rates is it the date when chemo ended?)
I need some words of encouragement
Six months ago, I lost my mom and sister in the same week. My mom was diagnosed with small cell lung cancer and she died 2 1/2 weeks later: My sister took her life the week my mom died.
I never really went back to work full time since treatment ended. I worked PT but really enjoyed life and traveled making enough to get by but taking time away from a stressful PR career in the nations capital
Now the money is about to run out and I'm looking for aFT job in my career to earn enough to get back on my feet
I'm not really stressed but I'm feeling the heat so to speak.
I could use ( a job) but really words of encouragement or advice
Hugs to all

Gemini, good to hear from you. Congrats on the 4 years, but deepest condolences about your mom and sister. Good vibes for a great new job. What kind of PR? Lobbying? -
thank you. More media relations/ communications but worked a lot with lobbyists. I've weighed whether to move to a different city (Boston, NYC, west coast) but feel like I can't mess around anymore.) (:- -
Congrats on your big milestone. Its a good one! I am deeply sorry for your loss. So sad when we have to deal with such losses when we have so much on our plate.
I lost my mom to BC 18 mos before I was dxed and then while in Tx . my dh and I lost 5 members of our immediate family in one yr, including my younger sister.
I had also given up an extremely stressful job when dxed. Eventually I regrouped , and with my faith... I rebounded with a great new BC related vocation. The losses still hurt, but then I gather strength our loved ones are now in a place with out pain and are in peace.
You will get there. Mourn for your losses and then give yourself credit for what strength you have within. You will find more gratifying work and be happy once again!
Hugs to you! -
Well first things first----(((HUGS))))!!!
Damn it you've been through WAY too much what with your cancer then your Mom and Sis (I lost a loved one to suicide as well). ENOUGH!
On the brighter side, HAPPY ANNIVERSARY! I was dx Sept 09, surgery 11/09 so I am just about at 4 years too! I live north of DC myself, and ironically we'll be in your neck of the woods later today and tomorrow for my son's HS games at the Episcopal School in Alexandria. LOVE Old Town.
Feel free to PM me anytime if you'd like to talk about anything, including your sister. It's a hard topic and not everyone gets it. Just like those who've never had cancer don't quite understand the stress we have in our lives.
Take care,
Sharon
PS, have you thought about filing for Disability? I did it myself, was denied first go round, appealed, and GOT IT! It has helped EMMENSELY! -
Congrats on 4yrs...YAY you! I am sorry to hear about all you've gone through. Hope you're feeling better soon and a great job is on the way. -
First, great anniversary to be celebrating. Sorry for the loss of your Mom and sister. I went back to work during rads and never looked back...love my job though. Look for work you enjoy ...then it doesn't seem like work. -
Twiceasnice. I am so sorry to hear of your loss. That's a lot to handle at once.
I asked my doctor that question about the date and she told me that it is from the diagnosis date. Congratulations on 4 years!
My thoughts and prayers are with you. -
Congrats on 4 years!!!!
Sorry about your losses...I hope your memories will bring you comfort... Hugs
