Carrots - wonderful article. SO GOD to know there are communities to welcome girls who have had that horrendous experience. I have a deep faith that the younger generations are going to do a MUCH better job than we did, even in the 1960's, to open up society, the children, and the grandchildren of the "flower children" will really make a difference.
Well, we in Red Sox nation are getting REALLY excited. A World Series win in Fenway Park, known affectionately as The Green Monster, would be the first one won there since 1918 ( or thereabouts, can't remember the exact date, but think it was 1918out) when Babe Ruth was a pitcher for the Red Sox. Tomrrow night. I'm about 250 miles west of Boston, expect to hear the cheers out here
oh, well, I liked the old emoticons better -
my sister and family live in Boston. Their oldest just moved to St Louis this summer. Should be interesting although I expect my niece will be a die hard Red Sox fan. -

Blue! Just want you to know, I have a whole computer full of the pictures you have posted! I LOVE them. They make beautiful desk-top pictures!
I stop by your thread just to see what you have posted.... Thanks! -
I hope this goes in.....just saw it.
Just imagine for a moment what life in this country might have been if women had been properly represented in Congress. Would a Co
...ngress where women in all their diversity were represented tolerate the countless laws now on the books that discriminate against women in all phases of their lives? Would a Congress with adequate representation of women have allowed this country to reach the 1970s without a national health care system? Would it have permitted this country to rank fourteenth in infant mortality among the developed nations of the world? Would it have allowed the situation we now have in which thousands of kids grow up without decent care because their working mothers have no place to leave them? Would such a Congress condone the continued butchering of young girls and mothers in amateur abortion mills? Would it allow fraudulent packaging and cheating of consumers in supermarkets, department stores and other retail outlets? Would it consent to the perverted sense of priorities that has dominated our government for decades, where billions have been appropriated for war while our human needs as a people have been neglected?

I was so surprised. I don't usually even think about political type quotes.

Hope when I hit submit I don't get weird marks. -
Just when I thought it worked fine, I come back and see that it didn't quite make it in as I hoped. Well, I will ( if I put any more quotes here ) have to do as I do in other places. Copy them by hand and then type them in to avoid 'extra' stuff in the bargain.
In the meantime.....here is something interesting. http://www.addictinginfo.org/2013/10/29/bill-pascrell-gop-obamacare-hearing/ -
Here's one to mull over. Can't say I didn't have thoughts during the shut-down.

Good grief, Republican being called "traitors" by the T-party for voting to extend the debt ceiling! It is the T-party that is violating the constitution by not raising the debt ceiling. They really should read the 14th Amendment. Of course most of them haven't read a book since high school.
Section 4.
The validity of the public debt of the United States, authorized by law, including debts incurred for payment of pensions and bounties for services in suppressing insurrection or rebellion, shall not be questioned. But neither the United States nor any state shall assume or pay any debt or obligation incurred in aid of insurrection or rebellion against the United States, or any claim for the loss or emancipation of any slave; but all such debts, obligations and claims shall be held illegal and void.

Did we ever get an answer to the question of why Boehner let those 20-30 quack Teahadists run his whole caucus?
I've heard fear of being primaried - could that still be true after this latest stunt?
Fear of not getting campaign funds from the Heritage Fund and other similar PACs - is Jim Demint running the House now (from outside of the house)?
I've never heard one coherent answer to this question. -
Kam - he would've lost his Speakership. 3rd in line to the President, HUGE perks, fancy office, terrace, POWER. Eric Cantor would have led the revolt, and taken his Speakership, is what I think. -
Forgot the option, but still, it doesn't quite make sense because outwardly, atleast, wasn't it a minority of the majority that wanted the shutdown? I say outwardly, cause those little bastards say one thing for political purposes and plan on doing another. -
I think it's the fear of being primaried. Funny how the word primary has become a verb. So, he was just a coward looking out for himself.
So the scariest thing I can think of being for Halloween is a Teabagger. Too bad - because the costume is really dull compared to a a witch or vampire outfit. What would I wear. Let's see. A racist tee shirt, baggy pants, an expression of rage, a sign that reads Keep Your Government out of my Medicare, tennis shoes - nope not going to wear shoes. Gonna have to be a witch after all. Even apart from wearing the shoes, a teabagger would be too disturbing for children. -
I think you mean "Keep You're Goverment out of my Medikaire." -
E, that's teabilly grammar! -
I LOVE that emoticon! It's so me!
I just read Kathleen Sebelius's remarks re the Obamacare website. I think the launch was a dismal failure and there's really no excuse for it. NONE. Five points from Gryffindor for website failure. TEN points from Slytherin for thinking that a website failure is an impeachable offense. Idiots. -
I still wonder about sabotage. I know that's not likely, but I remember the Repug Coups 2000 and 2004 all too well. -
I have some sad news. Ray's mom passed away yesterday. I might be scarce the next few days. Please keep Ray in your thoughts. He is having a hard time. -
Sending love and good thoughts to you and Ray. I'm so sorry for your loss, Blue. -
Blue, I am so sorry to hear this. Moms are special people.....you and Ray and your two families will be in my thoughts and prayers. Wishing you all strength in the coming days.

Blue I am so sorry! (((Blue and Ray))) -
Thank you ladies!

Since no one much reads here....I feel perfectly safe putting this little article here. http://prospect.org/article/another-phony-obamacare-victim-story# Some people just love remaining stupid about things. I know, as there are a huge lot of them in my family. Just found the other day that I should go to a T. Party meeting. They are wonderful sweet people just like Ted Cruz who cares about me.
Really -- he does. REALLY . He cares just as much about me as he would a possum in his attic I bet. Nice to know you have friends in high places. NOT

Blue that is a gorgeous picture. My mother loved cactus and had a huge garden with some very large and a couple of unusual ones. When we sold one of our homes in Southern California, the people who bought it fell just as much in love with the cactus garden bordering the drive-way there, as they did the house I think. They were Spanish people. Thanks for the memories.

Blue - sending love and hugs to you and Ray....

Blue - so sorry for you and Ray. My condolences. xxo -
Sending love to you and Ray. May she rest in everlasting peace. -
Blue,
Just stopped by to see your pretty pictures, and read your sad news. Sending my love to you and your husband. Losing a mother is always life changing, no matter how old we are.
And thank you for the beautiful photos! The cat and fashion shots always remind me of Miss Athena:)

Good Afternoon Everyone,
Been busy this morning .. walked the dogs and washed the car. Like a goofball, I had it parked under the oak tree and it was covered in dirt and leaves today. Parked it in the garage after I washed it.
Steelrose ... Welcome! It's so nice to see you here. I hope you post often and can feel the love and friendship.
Blue ... I am so sorry to hear about Ray's mom. It's been almost 5 years since I last saw my dad ... and I remember it as if it was yesterday. It's so hard to lose a parent. My heart goes out to Ray ... he must be so very sad right now. Sending big hugs to both of you.
hugs,
Bren -
Blue - sending love and sympathy to you and Ray. Peace, healing wishes. -

Fall colors out back. The picture doesn't do the reds and oranges any justice!
