thanks o2bhealthy. It helps to have some names to start with. This seems to be a quiet group. Hopefully, I will hear from some more Phoenix ladies. -

Hi Ladies,
I hope all is well with everyone, so it is that time again. I volunteered the last time that we got together to plan our next meeting/outing and I have not forgotten. January did however get away from me somewhat though.....:)
So here is the deal, lets meet at St. Francis Cafe on Saturday February 8th for brunch at 11am?
St. Francis is a cool little spot that has been featured on food networks Diner, Drives and Dives. It’s been voted "Best Bread and Happening Happy Hour and Brunch"
by the AZ Republic as well as AZ New Times 2011 and 2012. I think the ladies will enjoy the atmosphere as well as the menu they have to offer. Please chime in and let me know if you are interested and I will call to secure a reservation for the group.
New to the group or site, no worries........................Everyone is welcomed!!!!!!!
St. Francis
111 E. Camelback Rd.
Phoenix, Az 85012
Thanks
Meek.

Hello! My husband and I are making the permanent move to the Phoenix area in mid-March, so I hope to join in your gatherings after that. We have owned a home in the NW corner of Phoenix (109th and W. Beardsley...a Sun City address, but I pay taxes to Peoria) since 2010, but now will be fully retired and ready to be there permanently. I am tickled that my DD and SIL just moved this past summer to Prescott, which is great since I will be close to my grand children!
I will need to find an oncologist to do my follow-up appts...I am 2 years out from diagnosis....any suggestions/recommendations? ..I have heard about Sharon Ondreyco...any others?
Thanks for your input!
K.

I plan to come on Feb 8th. Put me down.
Welcome Karina. We just moved to the Phoenix area (Anthem) in November. I have been doing the new doctor search as well and have an appt with Ondreyco in March. I am almost 4 years out so still need to have someone to follow-up with. Good luck with your move.
-
joan888,
we drive past Anthem on our way North...not too far from us, actually! If you would, let me know what you think of Ondreyco.
We actually moved 95% of our belongings in December...all done! We are selling our house up here to my son/wife, so right now we feel we are squatters in my son's future house! Just enough furniture to be comfortable. They are busy selling their current house in order to buy ours, but are picking paint, furniture, etc, etc... My husband needed to finish up his job, so we are staying until the end of February.
I am looking forward to meeting you all,
K.

Katrina.... We moved from the Chicago area where we still have a house for sale. Our daughter and family live up your way in Seattle. We will have to get together when you get moved.
-
Karina, we moved here from California in late September (2013). My medical oncologist is Dr. Joseph Volk. He's one of Dr. Ondreyco's partners. I really like him thus far. I finished up Herceptin on December 5 (did my last three treatments here in Arizona). We live in Buckeye (mailing address) but we've never been to Buckeye. We're in Sun City Festival (about 12 miles out from Surprise on Sun Valley Parkway).
-
LeeA, thanks for the input on Dr. Volk....I see that he is also "preferred" on my insurance. I haven't heard the name "Sun Valley Parkway"... Is that the same as Bell? I know that I would drop down to Bell to get to Surprise. I am slowly learning my way around that huge city (well, the north end) ...I'm just happy I can find our church (CCV), Trader Joes, Costco, and Home Depot! I have three friends that all moved to Maricopa...now, that is in a different universe!
Joan888, we actually live in Gig Harbor..about 45 minutes south of Seattle. We will leave behind 5 other kids (3 + 2: second marriage :-), and 2 grands in the Seattle area. Our SIL took a job at Embry-Riddle University, which is why they moved to Prescott. YES! Let's get together! I bet you are happy to be away from the harsh winter in Chicago this year!
In my mission to be healthier, I am pushing myself outside for a walk...
Karina
-
Karina.... We have very good friends who are "snow birds" down here from Gig Harbor. Small world. Wonder of you may know them.
-
Joan888... Well. It's possible. Gig Harbor isn't very big!
-
Karina, yes, Bell turns into Sun Valley Parkway. We're kind of in the middle of nowhere.
-
LeeA...ahhhhhh....I thought so!
-
It's a ways from you but I'm very happy with Dr. Albert Wendt in central Phoenix. He had been in his solo private practice but moved last year to head up the University of Arizona/St. Joseph's Hospital Breast Cancer Clinic. https://hospitals.dignityhealth.org/stjosephs/Page... U of A is a National Cancer Institute research center.
I think the clinic will move to a new University of Arizona cancer care center in Phoenix in a year or two. I had gone to the U of A Cancer Center in Tucson for a second opinion visit and to see the genetics folks when I was first diagnosed so I was pleased when St. Joseph's began the joint program with them. St. Joe's is just a few blocks from my home so if very convenient for me. The dietitian there can see patients from any practice. She is great!
-
Thanks for the input, Golden01! I will check him out with my insurance.
-
Hello!
Nice to see some newbies, and hope to meet you all soon! I will be out of town for our meet up in Feb. so hope to meet up with you at the next one. Dr Ondreyco is fabulous.... she is highly recommended. It can be tough to find new doctors. I have been pleased with Mayo as well. Best of luck in the hunt. If you would like to be added to our email list for get togethers send my a PM with your info, and you can always check back here for info. We meet about every other month, and if you are interested in planning a meet up, please let me know.

Arizona ladies, I am new to this sight, and I need suggestions on a plastic surgeon in the Phoenix area. I have a failed implant reconstruction on my radiated side, and will need some type of flap reconstruction...any suggestions?
-
Thimbleberry - As a matter of fact, I just went through a very successful revision on a very poor initial reconstruction with a new (to me anyway) PS I found in Scottsdale. His office is right off Shea and the 101 if that's convenient for you. He's a big proponent of fat grafting (which is very helpful when you have radiated or thin skin) and does flap surgery as well as implant reconstruction. I think it took me about six weeks to get an appointment with him, but it was so worth the wait. I'm thrilled with my results and one month post revision, I'm finally symmetrical and barely have any detectable scars. You can PM me if you have any more questions...

I'm wondering what the doctor's name is. I have a friend who has the same problem and she's been to two Scottsdale Plastic Surgeons. Thanks
