Watching anything good this season?

There towards the end I really wanted to smack Marie. Before Hank died, she had no sense of empathy towards her sister, Skyler, who's world was crumbling. It was as if she got her jollies rubbing it in........Remember early on when Marie was a thief? I mean that doesn't hold a candle to what Walt did, but no empathy for her own sister.
S M A C K -
I agree. I thought that, too.
SMACK ! -
Although they were only supporting characters, Marie and Walt Jr. didn't get much of an ending. When you think about it, Walt Jr. (Flynn) is STILL going to that high school where his dad must be NOTORIOUS. How could a kid deal with THAT? I was expecting a little scene with Saul, but I guess they covered him in the previous episode. I liked how Badger and Skinny Pete played a small part in the ending.
All in all, the loose ends did get tied up nicely. Jesse getting a second chance and Walt having nothing left. A fitting end, I think
p.s. Wish Marybe were here to comment. Missing her too.
-
Didn't Saul get out of Dodge a couple weeks ago? I think he went on the lam....new identity, location, etc.
Would have been nice to see Walt's family get the money, but I'm sure that couple would have been too terrified to double cross him.

And did anybody else tighten up while watching Jesse choke Todd? He let everything out ... all that he had endured ... all that he had seen ... watching Todd murder his girlfriend Andrea ... all the realizations he had reached about Walt ... very hard to watch........
-
Yes that was a really intense moment. Do you think it would have been too difficult for them to spare the girl?
I would have loved for the last seen to be Jesse, the girl, & her son on a tropical beach somewhere. -
That would have been lovely! As a mom, it was too hard when Andrea was killed knowing that poor Brock would find her. Same for Lydia even.

My PBS station is starting to rerun all of Downton Abbey starting tomorrow. Don't think my hiney will take that much sitting at one time (from 2-5) plus Last Tango in Halifax plus NASCAR and IndyCars. It's the first 2 episodes. Loving Last Tango. Drama plus lots of crack ups.
Anyone familiar with these PBS offerings? They all appear to be mysteries.
1. Father Brown "The Hammer of God" (2013)
2. Death in Paradise (2012) Might be a stand alone and not episodic
3. Miss Fisher's Murder Mysteries "Ruddy Gore) (2012)
These are all on my PBS tonight. Unfortunately wish they were on right now. Saturday afternoon seems to be vast TV wasteland. Tonight is hockey night on TV, too. Bummer. -
I have been watching Netflix Alias once again. I think I was in chemo the first time so I don't remember it now.
I watched all of Breaking Bad and while parts of it were just brutal it was so well done I felt compelled to watch all of it.
I have been off the boards for awhile, we lost so many friends here in my age group. Tryong to say hi again and to stay away from the topics that just hurt so bad. -
I saw this article about Aaron Paul (Jesse of BB).....I'm impressed!

Soteria,
Love him...;)

thanks for sharing the Jesse story. I'm new to Breaking Bad. Watched the first episode about a year ago. Returned to it after the finale. Am in Season 2 now. I enjoy watching popular shows after the hubbub has died down, and can watch them with Netflix or iTunes in blocks of 2/3 episodes or more, snuggled beside DH. Did that with West Wing and Lost. Walt's cancer treatment gets me so emotional. To see someone, even a fictitious character, go through it, tugs at my heart strings. Did anyone else feel the same way? -
Yes, it was hard to watch the cancer part of it sometimes, but admittedly, one of my favourite moments was when Walt took that "HOPE" button and threw it in the trash. I'm guessing not too many cancer patients have that reaction, but that's what I would have done with it, so Walt's character and I were on the same page. It made me smile. -
Tarheel~~I wish they'd bring WEST WING on syndication. I never watched when it was on, but would love to see it now. I don't have netflix.

BETTER CALL SAUL wants Bryan Cranston & Arron Paul ( Walter White & Jesse) for cameos.

leggo I agree!
I didn't watch Breaking Bad until a couple of weeks ago. It has been a pleasure to watch episodes back to back, no waiting weeks or months for cliffhanger resolutions. Starting Season 4 now. I'm enjoying watching it with my husband. We've had interesting discussion on male breadwinner/head of household roles and expectations as shown in the series and as in real life. And the cancer references... The script lines are so poignant I am often in tears. -
Last night I watched the new Dracula series on Global here in Canada. It was very good, staring J ohnathan Ryese As Dracula. -
Tarheel,
BB ROCKS/ROCKED!

Violet, I just started the 5th season. Have you watched all the shows yet?
Soteria, I agree with you on West Wing. Such an awesome show. Maybe you could try a used book/video store for WW seasons on DVD.
Mumito, Jonathan Rhys is SO delicious to look at. I could eat him with a spoon. -
Tarheel,
Yes! AND even got my 74-year-old Mum to watch entire show!

Hi girls- my hubby and I started late to the Breaking Bad party too- we are just halfway through season 2. SO great. One of the wonderful things that I learned on this blog- thank you ladies!
Thank goodness for DVDs and Amazon Prime!!!!
Hugs

ScienceGal,
It (BB), just keeps getting better and better. ..;)
Vi

BB is entertaining, but beyond that, it has given me insight into men and how they view their roles as breadwinners, fathers and husbands. The pressures of providing. How money and pride enslave. It's been a good thing for me and DH to watch together. -
Tar,
Well. Ahem...it gets pretty hairy...as it progresses...;) And the characters get a lot more jaded...and conscience-hardened. But it IS about human character more than anything else. Its NOT about meth really at all...
Such GREAT WRITING. ..there's never been a show like Breaking Bad...I want to watch the whole series over again.
Do note: Marie (Hank's wife) ALWAYS wears purple/ her house is decorated in purple too...fun fact I missed in the beginning until a friend pointed it out to me.
Jesse was always my favorite character. Happy viewing.
Vi
-
Vi,
YES! I noticed the purple from the beginning, since it's my favorite color. I like how it's used to characterize Marie's OCD tendencies. She's got a purple toaster. One scene opened with several packets of Splenda on a kitchen cabinet, and someone methodically opening each one and carefully sprinkling it in the coffee. I knew it was Marie before the shot pulled back to reveal who it was.
I like some of Marie's clothes though I don't wear purple ALL the time. There used to be a show Curb Your Enthusiasm and I loved every outfit Larry David's wife wore. I actually copied some of her styles. (Hmm, maybe I should move this comment to the retail therapy discussion, lol)
I like Jesse too, but having had friends who were addicts, who went back and forth between straight and messed up, it's hard for me to love Jesse, if you know what I mean. -
Hello, everyone!
Any fans of the Newsroom in here?
Other shows I follow are:
the Borgias (still hoping there will be a season 4)
the Big Bang Theory
I also like to watch Modern Family.
-
Tar,
Just wait...you'll end up loving him...;)
Vi
-
We just got to the part in season two where Walt is in remission- yay!
what a great episode.
hugs to all

Breaking Bad talk still going on, huh? I had to find a streaming series to replace my BB watching, so decided on Dexter. Watched a few so far and like it. Unfortunately not all the seasons are on Netflix yet, so I may as well take my time with that one. I've liked Michael C. Hall ever since he was on Six Feet Under. That's a good series but Netflix doesn't stream it (disk only.)
Anyone who knows me, knows I am taking full advantage of the 50th Anniv. of the JFK assassination and watching a lot of the programming on that lately. Real conspiracy theories...fictional docudramas...I don't care. I am drawn to it like a wayward moth to the eternal flame at Arlington. -
elimar~~Are you or have you watched Killing Kennedy on National Geographic? It stars Rob Lowe as Kennedy. I really like Rob, but wouldn't have thought he could do Kennedy, but he does a pretty good job.
