sending healing wishes to all fur babies...
as for the rest of us, we're doomed ;( US Senate now taking up where House blew it tonight.
Think I'll just get to bed early b4 I cry!
Chris's video on YouTube now well over 2 million...that's good, people are learning the truth & sharing it with friends. -
Kam and Yorkie...I am feeling so badly for the emotional pain both of you are feeling. It is so hard to know what to do when they can't tell you what they are going through. -
{{{{ Yorkie & Chloe }}}} Seems as if were going thru this travail together too (we both started in the same December surgery group I think). Hugs to all for the love. I was so sure she would get better when she came home. There is still hope for pancreatitis, which can resolve, but the heart (and cancer) thing have me worried again. Part of the problem is just not knowing and how to proceed without knowing. Boo is working an Elizabethan now and the Vet just reported she wears it well (not tugging or pulling at her feeding tube). She hates moving to a new house, but she loves people. She's no longer hiding under the covers at the hospital, so I think she is asking for some pets and love as the techs go by. I told them about her little trick tonite and they will try it on her. -
Peter King on GOP: 'This Party is Going Nuts'
A sizable contingent of more moderate Republicans have watched with alarm as their party has been commandeered by tea party members and right-wing activists trying to kill Obamacare at all costs.
The absurdity struck home for Rep. Pete King (R-N.Y.) Tuesday as the prominent conservative organizations Heritage Action, Red State and FreedomWorks all came out against a last-second GOP leadership plan to avert a crisis that Democrats had warned was too far to the right.
"This party is going nuts," King told HuffPost. "So many people I run into who are normal people -- and I hate to use that term -- they just can't understand what's going on."
"On this one they can't even see both sides," King said. "They just think Republicans are crazy. That's it. They see no justification for any of this."
He added that the compromise House leaders were pushing actually did little to affect Obamacare, except to force the federal government to stop contributing its share to congressional staffers' health insurance.
"Even if this bill passed tonight, what would it have done?" King said. "After shutting down the government for two and a half weeks, laying off 800,000 people, all the damage we caused, all we would end up doing was taking away health insurance from congressional employees. That's it? That's what you go to war for? That's what we shut down the United States government for?"

kam -- heart failure (which can be treated) seems to be a distinct possibility, especially with the fluid retention coupled by the heart murmur. The sooner you have a definite dx, the sooner Ms Boo will be on the road to good, or at least better, health. Still have digits crossed for a wonderful outcome. In the meantime, we're here for you. Many hugs. -
The thing about dx'ing heart disease, that requires an echocardiogram. While I'm not as loath to spend $$$ for my cat as most, this is further travel (4 hours away) and thousands of dollars. I know there are some treatments for some heart conditions, they are not necessarily that life prolonging (similar to chemotherapy for small cell feline lymphoma). Am I missing something? Do you know if she would have fluid retention in the abdomen if it was heart failure?
Caveat - hyperthyroidism could cause heart issues. I am testing for that, as I did 2 years ago (borderline 2 years ago). -
Kam -- I pm'ed you. -
Sending healing vibes out to Boo and Chloe and lots of (((hugs))) to you Kam and yorkiemom.
The fact that Peter King is feeling it necessary to be reasonable and speak up is proof positive of just how off the rails this group of GOP radicals has gone. It's up to the Republicans to shut them down before the destruction they are causing gets any worse. And like he said ... at the end of the day they have done it all for nothing of any consequence. Just chest beating and temper tantrums. Foolish, arrogant, idiots ... maybe they all got their own way too much as children and never had to face the consequences of their actions? Because they do not seem to understand that they are not entitled to be dictators or that actions have consequences. -
(((((((((((((((Miss Boo & Chloe))))))))))))))))
Sending hugs from across the seas -
Up in the middle of the night! DH is out of town and I get a little weird when he's not around.
Kam, one of Chloe's problems is hypothyroidism, for which she gets medication. She had no symptoms though. They found the condition on routine lab work. I don't know if the hypothyroidism is related to her other issues. The vet has never mentioned that. We're not quite to palliative care with her, but the only additional active treatment will probably be the steroids.
I know what you mean about us being on similar journeys. I did have surgery in December 2011. We've been through so much, and now this! But such is life, sigh. -
I just read the dumbest of the dumb comments on another site. "Animals have no concept of death". Sooooooooooooo, I guess when a rabbit runs away from a coyote, it is just running away for the fun of it, not because it knows its gonna be gobbled up and die! Geeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeezuz! -
Kam and Yorkie sending big hugs! We kept our Virgil going for as long as possible at the cost of thousands of $$$$$, which we're still paying off. I'm sure if Virg was being chased by a pitbull, he would have known his time was near. I carry Virg's soul around with me every day! How's that for concept! -
Blue, esp. tell it to the elephants who we know mourn their dead, just watch a pic of the matriarch running her trunk over the bones, and if you don't cry, you aren't human.
Watch a dog mourn the death of a playmate, housemate, or a cat refuse to eat....
don't know where you're reading, but STOP. You've got so much better things to do, eat left over turkey for a start ;-)
Hugs to all who are dealing with sick fur babies... -
Sunny, I had to hand feed and give Lilah water with a syringe. She was so heart-broken when Virgil died. I would have lost her too! And it was Virgil who woke me up at 5 a.m. that day last year when we almost lost Lilah. He knew she was gonna die. Got her to the vet in the nick of time. -

this is the chronology of how we got to this depressing state of affairs:
1. Republicans created a health care plan
2. They pushed for this plan over the course of 2 decades, and they even supported this plan as late as 2008
3. When The democrats agreed to adopt this plan, the GOP suddenly (and at that point only) decided the plan was unconstitutional and posed a grave threat to the nation. They sued in the supreme court but lost
4. The Republicans ran a presidential candidate who opposed the Affordable Care Act even though he had passed a nearly identical law in the State of Massachusetts
5. Obama was re-elected with the Affordable Care Act being a center piece of the election
6. Deciding that the Affordable Care Act was a serious threat to the nation, the GOP engineered a strategy of threatening a Government Shutdown to protest the Affordable Care Act.
7. 80 members of congress signed a letter to force the shutdown. They said a shutdown would not be a bad thing
8. They celebrated when it happened
9. The House Republicans changed a long standing House Rule at the last minute to ensure the shutdown would stay in effect
10. When challenged about this, the republicans would not address the issue.
11. All the while, the Republicans accused the Democrats and Obama of not negotiating, even though the democrats tried repeatedly to negotiate, which should not have been necessary since Harry Reid and John Boehner had a deal, that Boehner backed out of.
12. And despite all of this, the Radical wing of the GOP will still blame Obama for the Shutdown.
Meanwhile,
13. In 2001, The GOP President and GOP Congress inherited a projected budget surplus and a projected elimination of the entire debt within 10 years.
14. The GOP then passed a tax cut, waged an expensive war, and repeatedly voted to raise the debt ceiling with no demands on spending cuts.
15. Then, when a Democrat was in the Whitehouse, the GOP decided it was worth risking a default to place demands on spending cuts.

DJD, totally NUTS! -
does anybody know why I cannot seem to get line breaks in my posts???

Cats are often extreme mourners too. Blue --- yes, the animals who share our lives in only a slightly different area, are always remembered and cherished often as much or more than people. I'm not saying animals are more important then people, but only, un-like people what they give to you is completely un-conditional. In other words, they live to please you. It is their purpose.
As we must spend time in this world, often with people similar to what is going on in our government as we speak, heartless, cruel, and obviously only out for their wants, we do find comfort in those who won't even condemn that group of people -- so richly deserving.
So another torturous day begins as we all sit and wonder how this will all play out. The heartless wanton cruelty is hard to take. DJD, thanks for the chronology. It is easy to get a little lost with all the "games".
Blue, appreciate seeing your thoughts as well as I know sometimes it is hard to type. Perhaps the person making that comment to you will re-think it now. Perhaps they are one of the lucky ones that have not had to encounter losing a "special" friend. Animals un-like us so often, know when their death is approaching and they are some of the most stoic creatures about it I've ever encountered. They have a dignity some of us could never call up.
Every living thing on the earth has an energy and just because their are no words, no sounds, does not necessarily mean there is no sensation.....likely it cannot be recognized by us.

Not sure, but I didn't have a tool-bar for a bit and it seemed to have the same effect at that time. I changed my compatibility setting, tool-bar came back and I was able to resume doing all I had previously done.
Compatibility is up in tools at the top ( I think ) of your page.
Hope that will help. I know some systems have not been so compatible with the new tool-bar but they are XP I think and earlier.

How could anyone know how animals feel about death, or about anything, for that matter? I can't even presume to know how another person feels about death, let alone animals. Sounds extraordinarily arrogant to me.
I also think that people make say these things to justify cruelty, or hunting, or just to make themselves feel better about the death of a pet. -
Jackie - thanks - I'll try and figure out the compatibility setting.
Enjoyful - I agree with you wholeheartedly. You know, my furbabies are all very obviously aware of so much more than I can understand. My dad and I observe them as they "communicate" with one another in non-verbal (obviously) ways. It is truly fascinating. We have lost our fair share of pets in the last five years, and my mom died two years ago this week. We have observed all sorts of mourning behavior, both pre- and post-death. I think they know when another person or animal is sick, and about to die. -
I guess cats and dogs don't have a concept of death when they are being euthanized because they can't equate needle/death! But they will sure as heck run if they are being chased, instinct = afraid of death. Some scientists think that PDers are stuck in that fight or flight mode.........I'm stuck in fight! hahahahaha! -
Blue, wow, the stupid, it hurts! I would wager a large bet that those morons are Regressives.
Thanks for all the hugs and good wishes! Love all of you!! -
Just got a CNN Breaking News that said the Senate has reached an agreement. No details yet....
Donna - if you are running Windows 7 and IE 9 or 10, go to the Tools menu. About 1/2 way down is Compatibility View. Make sure it is NOT checked. Then you'll get your toolbar and paragraphs will work. Cut and paste of pictures is wonky for me. With some pictures it works, others it doesn't. But using the picture's link (if it's on the internet, or uploading a picture if it's on my pc seems to always work. -

OMG .. This pic is so dang big. I copied it from Facebook. Hope the Mods can resize it for me.
I'm with my two special grandsons Nicky and Isaac. Getting ready to head to the airport and back to Virginia. I don't want to leave them. I am going to start crying when I say good bye to my son this morning.
hugs to all,
Bren -
GG - I feel stupid, but I can't find the "tools" menu. I have "Internet Options" but there is nothing in that menu about compatibility. What am I missing?
-
Grandkids look great and so do you! Safe travels!
