Yorkie - sorry to hear about Chloe - hope she responds to the treatment.
Kam - I hope your kittie is improving -
If you ever wondered how the government really works - MY HERO Chris Van Hollen trying to make sense. A sneaky thing happened a few weeks ago that nobody knows about, yet. Boehner had the RULES CHANGED, so only HE or someone he apoints may introduce a bill to get the Government OPEN again...watch Chris try to get them to admit this...
amazing, really.
http://m.youtube.com/watch?v=0Jd-iaYLO1A&desktop_uri=%2Fwatch%3Fv%3D0Jd-iaYLO1A
This is what Chris wrote under the video:
Late in the evening on September 30, 2013, the House Rules Committee Republicans changed the Rules of the House so that the ONLY Member allowed to call up the Senate's clean CR for a vote was Majority Leader Eric Cantor or his designee -- all but guaranteeing the government would shut down a few hours later and would stay shut down. Previously, any Member would have had the right to bring the CR up for a vote. Democracy has been suspended in the House of Representatives. -
Just sort of makes your head swim, doesn't it? I woke up this a.m. thinking about Pres. Obama and all the things he has managed to accomplish and the dignity he has shown while all the shenanigans have played out around him. Much abused heaped and Michele given it as well. The obstructionists want nothing more but to ruin him, but sometimes I wonder........they in their somewhat backward vicious way may be doing more to make sure that doesn't happen.
I hope the vision I see which is "they" don't actually come close to succeeding is the right one.
In the meantime.....there is news that the Carny guy held a big meet-up last night with his carny cronies which has the likely intent of nixing any agreements on the shut-down. While it could not be more troublesome -- it seems no one is able to gauge in any way not only how serious for America, but in many, many ways quite serious for them too. I think Americans -- very much in this day and age have extremely long memories and anything forgotten can come to life in the very large world of media. It will be fact-checked at that time too.
Sad, sad times. I am so glad we have a strong, thoughtful leader.

Well, a lot of people are learning what happened. Hope all keep forwarding the link to YouTube in previous post ;-) -

Going to do my best, sir!

Holy crap!!!! I just watched the GOP rule change video. Are we witnessing the end of true democracy in America.? This must be a very frightening event for you all. Isn't this what the republicans kept accusing Obama of wanting to do??? -
Pip -- I've noticed that you can absolutely count on the fact that when Republicans accuse the Democrats and the President of doing something nefarious, they're doing it themselves. Every bloody time! It's an old trick that some kids learned in grade school. These people have never gotten beyond grade school thinking and behaving, obviously. -
if the dens become the majority, will that clause still be in effect? -
I don't understand how Boner pulled that off. The House rules must give extraordinary power to the Speaker. Pip, my guess is that the Dems could use it too. Message to Republicans, what goes round comes round. -
Yorkie....total absolute agreement with your last sentence. I never really ever thought I'd see so many dishonorable people in one place ( since I don't visit jails and those sorts of institutions ), but all I have to do is turn on the news. There they are.....the GOP, in full living color mocking the government while they take full advantage of everything they can wrench ( may be wrong word, or used improperly ) from it.
They are a most disgusting bunch. I think as well it can't be said too often -- whom do they think they are fooling? Within the next three years elections are coming and that is scant time to try and redeem yourself, if you even could. Ignoring truth does not erase it, and pretending doesn't either.

Would someone please tell me how to do a c an p that actually works? Every time I try, the preview shows that it's there, but when I hit submit, it isn't. -
-
Pip.....mine are never very good, but maybe just hit submit and see if it comes on. I've never had any trouble with preview, but don't really use it.
Jackie -
Jackie, I totally loathe those idiots. Their sense of entitlement is all they care about. If the country goes down in flames due to their shenanigans, but they "win," then it's all good in their demented minds.
C4C I have never been able to c&p on these boards. I hope somebody who know responds to you. I may be slow, but I can learn! :-) -

So, I use a Mac, and before the changes were made to this posting system, I was able to highlight the post/image, hit Copy, and then go to BCO new post and hit Paste and, Voila ! There it was! Now, doing the same thing, nothing works. I've tried hitting the "Image" icon here, I've tried highlighting and then hitting the Image icon, I've inserted my own words to go with the copied post, and all that shows up when I hit "submit" is my own words -- which of course mean nothing without the whole post!
Duh!!!! -
Yorkie -- From all I've read (especially just minutes ago about a poll showing that TPers overwhelmingly don't see any problem with a default) it's so very clear that they have no knowledge whatsoever of how an economy (both national and global) actually works. I'm beginning to believe that they seriously want to destroy the U.S. and then (in their dreams) build it up again in their own image. Totally scary stuff from complete and utter seditionist idjuts. Time for the Department of Justice to arrest the lot of them. -
I see comments saying that since the gov't is shut down they haven't been spending money so it shouldn't be a problem. I realize I am Canadian, but everything I've been reading says that the money in question is money that was already spent. Confused. -
http://www.nytimes.com/2013/10/06/us/a-federal-budget-crisis-months-in-the-planning.html? I've vote for it C for C and get everyone I know to do the same. They should all be behind bars with no time off for good behavior. Lots of names in the above piece but most of you have probably read it. Just tossing it in here, just in case.
Jackie -
Pip - it was Eric Cantor who forced that ridiculous change thru which Chris Van Hollen blew the whistle on! More than 2 million have viewed the YouTube, and that's a LOT more than live in Chris's Bethesda MD district. And as Chris said at the end "there goes democracy."
Senate almost had an agreement, and Boehner was so bummed at being out of the loop, he is now trying to introduce a bill which stops the Senate action.
Firing squads too good for them... -
What the rest of the world thinks - from PoliticusUSA: -
I just looked up the Help section here and found that the section on adding images hasn't been updated. -
Daily Kos has a piece on that today. I just read it.

Obviously has no idea how long snowballs in hell last.

C4C I would not doubt that the Presedent and his Atty General are having conversations about sedition -
I take it the Rethugs are still committing treason? Something about the Heritage Foundation (Jim DeMint) threatning them with being primaried). Do they only care about their jobs? What about the country?
Had to take Ms Boo back to Vet today. She got a nasal feeding tube (or will). Feel like we're at square one again. She didn't eat, at all, when home for 24 hours. Just slept. She lost another 5 oz and now they are finding fluid in her chest and more in her abdomen. She was dx'd with grade III heart murmur 2 years ago - could it now be congestive heart failure? Still could be pancreatitis (with fluid in chest), but they still hadn't done definitive PLi test for that. Ordered that, bartonella and thyroid. I draw the line at taking her to UC Davis for an echocardiogram, though she might get some extra life with medications, though she might have had it during last 2 years since heart murmur found. Back to hoping for pancreatitis as cancer was brought up, again, even though cells not found in fluid. Guess that test must be about as good as a mammogram.
She was just too sweet at the Vets. I didn't want to leave her there knowing what was next. I'm cried out and wondering how this will all develop. I miss her so much already. -
Kam, I am so sorry to hear all this. I do think getting her some nutrition will be a really good thing, but I was hoping being in her own surroundings would 'perk' her up more. She will be a part of my nightly prayers to the spiritual universe.
Love and warm thoughts and healing energies.

Kam, so sorry you and Miss Boo are going through this. I've had a few good cries since our meeting with the vet yesterday. I am determined to make Chloe's last days as peaceful and happy as possible. We may just have a few months or maybe up to a year. I can't bear the thought of the end, but I have to start getting myself prepared.
Anyway, so hoping and praying that they find out what is wrong with your baby and can resolve it. (((Kam and Miss Boo)))
