    Off topic: technology question.

My inkjet colour printer/Canon Pixma 500, almost 7 years old? is getting wonky - whitish lines when I print. Done all the maintenance, anybody have any suggestions?

Suggestions for NEW PRINTER Color ink jet - I use an Apple and gotta be able to REFILL the cartridges. Which I do with this one, and just keep overriding the "error" message - much toooooooo expensive to buy cartridges, I buy the ink in bottle, use the syringe needly thingies which come with it to refill.

    Thanks for any advice -

The TPGOP's ratings continue their downward spiral! From TPM (http://talkingpointsmemo.com/livewire/gallup-gop-favorability-plunges-to-record-low):

Only 28 percent of Americans have a favorable opinion of the Republican Party, according to findings from Gallup released Wednesday.

That number represents a nadir for either party since Gallup began asking the question in 1992 and a 10-point drop for the GOP from a month ago. Sixty-two percent said they have an unfavorable opinion of the Republican Party.

Conversely, Gallup found that Americans are more split when it comes to Democrats. Forty-three percent said they have a favorable opinion of the Democratic Party, compared with almost half — 49 percent — who said they have an unfavorable opinion.

According to Gallup, which recently found support for the tea party dropping to a record low, about one in four Americans view both of the two major parties unfavorably.

Excellent! I love mustered mojo! Especially when I finally catch up! ;-)

Speaking of catching up, will someone explain the hold that the TP has on Boehner? If Boehner held a more moderate stance, which I believe reflects a majority of the House Republicans (or am I wrong?), wouldn't he be assured of his role when the next Congress convenes?

    I like that Blue. Imagine.

Cat home - pancreatitis. She's eating, so that is good. My gf had a male cat go thru this and spent $5500 and 3 weeks of hell, feeding tubes, etc.. That was an unusual case. Most cats self-resolve, fingers crossed.

Yes Kam, eating is a very good sign.

E -- would you "relish" a little mustered mojo? (Sorry, couldn't resist, although I know that puns are the lowest form of pastry...)

E help yourself to all the mojo you need. Today I've got extra.

Regarding the crazy Mr. B. I'd explain if only I could understand. I've been assuming that all the moderates are afraid of losing their jobs if the show what they really think. But I sure hope they have a come to Jesus moment sometime soon.

Too many seem to not understand the difference between negotiation and extortion. I think they need to truly appreciate it.

Sending all my extra mojo to E(eeeeeek). Need to dip into the sorts jar, though - DH is still furloughed (apparently money laundering and terrorism financing investigations are not essential) and he is HOME ALL THE TIME. And we are going on vacation next week. And the political situation (reflected in the market turmoil) is enraging. Actually, I need a to-go bag of sorts if there are enough to spare.

So sorry to hear about furbaby troubles, Yorkie and Kam. They are our children and it is so painful when something is wrong with them. Sending healing thoughts from me, DH, Forrest and Peaches.

Hugs to all who need 'em. I have an infinite supply of those to donate!

E, here is the hold that the baggers have over Boner: his job. He gets extra money for being the speaker ($225k or so, which buys a lot of tanning booth time, Tang, booze and ciggies), he gets a 24/7 security detail, chauffered limo to and from work, an extra big fancy office, and is third in line for the Presidency. As Speaker of the House, He Is Somebody. As a regular representative, he is just a former aluminum siding salesman (or replacement windows, I forget which) from southwestern Ohio. He wants to keep his illusion of power.

I get all that, RL, but why does he worry about the TP minority? How much can they interfere with his selection as Speaker?

Hi everyone - just catching up here. Been running around like crazy or glued to the spectacle on television that is the Republicans attempting to destroy our form of government.

E - sending all the Mojo I have for a good scan. Fingers and toes crossed. Will even say a prayer (in Hebrew) just to provide diversity of prayer. Not convinced it works, but can't hurt. I also will repeat an offer I made at some point to sacrifice a Republican house member of the steps of the Congress in order to bring good luck.

Interesting interview by Chris Hayes of one of the MSNBC contributors, Robert Costa of The National Review (yes, a Conservative rag). Lots of internal strife going on in that GOP caucus. The "reality faction" of the GOP admits they are "committing suicide" (lead in to interview) and a new Gallup (conservative pollster, you know, the one our mirror people LOVE as the only reliable one) has Republican popularity at an all time low since 1992. Today, in a Senate meeting behind closed doors, Ron Johnson (TP Wisconsin Senator) not happy with Cruz and allies. Cruz marginalized to talk shows and stirring up his activist base. One TP talk show host is calling Ron Johnson a "damn liar." Hee hee.

Ryan coming out of the woodwork with an op-ed. Never mentioned Obamacare, much to the consternation of the Teahadists. His defensive response, oh, Obamacare comes under the heading "entitlements"......Hays reporting that House Rethugs realizing they now can't get defund or repeal of Obamacare and Boehner is looking for a shortterm CR to raise debt ceiling, but he doesn't have the votes in his owncaucus, so must rely on Democrats. Pelosi will likely ask for opening the government to Dems to vote with him.

They're falling apart. Oh, and one more thing. Many in the House (GOP) say they are getting angry calls from constituents about the government shutdown (I'm one of them :) ) and they can't take much more heat. Gotta love it.

E, they have fellow-travelers and Bonehead is afraid they will have enough votes to oust him. It isn't such a minority when they horse-trade with other members. The hard-core insanity caucus is small, but their little-dogs-too are more numerous and are afraid they will be primaried on the right -- because they are also whores.

Hoping all the furry friends get back to good health. They are a large part of my world and have been since I was a very small child.

Boehner...will get no kind words from me. He is quite a jellyfish, and does love that sense of power ( though watching him I see someone lacking in male equipment like big time ) but a couple of scotches sort of blur your condition. I think he won't make it through all this. E. Cantor is probably slobbering.

I think this is too small to read well, but it is a list of the 19 (nineteen) times that Democrats in the Senate requested unanimous consent in the Senate to go to conference with the House. 19 times blocked by Republican senators -- Toomey, Cruz, McConnell, Lee, Paul, Rubio. The insanity caucus in the Senate.

Kam, I'm watching Chris Hayes too. I really like his show. No yelling, screaming, or making up scary stuff - I really have no idea how people can find Glenn Beck, Rush Limbaugh, and others who are into such strange conspiracy stuff, compelling, believable or even interesting.
