To my fellow sisters...hope you all do well tomorrow. I am a bit nervous as the hours draw near. We will all pull out of this, take care and will chat soon! -
Goodluck to the Wed girls. Will be thinking of you. -
Thank you! It went well. Blood work was perfect, infusion time was delayed but all went well. My MO came in with all the scan results from last week & everything was fine, all clear. This invasive aggressive cancer has not spread!
Good luck to everyone going tomorrow for chemo! -
VintageGal - that is wonderful news!! It's such a relief!!
Wrenn - Good luck with your MO appt tomorrow. "the Wednesday girls" - I like it! -
I'm definitely nervous now, but you ladies prepared me as much as I can be prepared. Good luck to those joining me tomorrow for their first time, good luck to those continuing, thank you to those who have been through it & are helping us newbies out, and to Breast Cancer-you can suck it!!! -
Good luck to all of you ladies starting soon. I start oct 24. -
Good luck to my fellow Wednesday bar hoppers. I pray we all have uneventful days and minimal side effects. O have taken my premeds tonight - I wonder how they will treat me? I really would like to sleep. A good friend has already dropped off food - which I had to divide out as we are a family of 3 and she is a family of 8 and even said "I cannot cook for 3"
I have cut up bananas, oranges, peaches and apples to freeze for smoothies with my new friend Almond Milk. Packing my chemo bag - blanket, water bottles chilling, chargers, mints, hard candy, gum, biotene spray, chapstick, EMLA cream for the port - which I called in for today, baggies to put ice chips in for my naiils, journal to document everything.
Kick.Cancer. Let's go Girls! -
Good luck Wednesday Gals!!! Just breathe and remember that the infusion room is your ultimate "safe place" - every single person in there "gets it" so if you want to cry, or be alone, or what ever, it's ok. I burst into tears when they drew my blood for labs the first time. The tech handed me a tissue and said "It's ok hun, that's allowed here"
Oh I also forgot to mention that my onc nurse recommends no perfume and as many unscented products on the day of tx. You never know who in the infusion room is feeling nauseous or sensitive to smells, including you! -
Thinking of all of you Wednesday girls, and sending warm, restful, calming, healing thoughts your way! Hope you all have big pockets, because we are all in there with you hoping for smooth sailing and minimal (or no!) SEs.
Vintage -- great news!! Joining in the happy dance!
Jaybird & Gram -- absorbing your vibes for minimal SEs -- my infusion is Thurs afternoon, and I have arranged for my classes to be covered for Friday and Monday (I am a professor) but really hoping I can teach my two classes per day starting on Tuesday. Gram, you give me hope that I have not been too optimistic!
So grateful for all of the suggestions regarding food -- many thanks to all!!! -
what do the ice chips do? I took my chrmo class today but they didn't tell us anything about claritin or ice chips -
Hi Relocated, Ice chips help preventing from mouth sore or blister. Thats why you see some women suck on popsicle. -
Hi Relocated,
Claritin helps with the Nulasta shot. I start taking it the day before infusion and continue taking it for 3 days after I get the shot. So far, so good, as my Se's from the shot are minimal.
I will be thinking of everyone and sending good vibes to those that will be joining me in the "chair" today. I have packed my chemo bag with snacks, lotion, a blanket, my journal and my Kindle Fire. Water bottles are chilling and hopefully, an tomato omelet will be waiting for me when I got home!!
Positive thoughts only! -
Hi Everyone! Just checking in and wishing & sending everyone starting calm nerves, brave spirits and big hugs!!!
Vintage Gal: Great news on your scan!!!!!! Your infusion center sounds great!!!! I can see the lights from Fenway Park, and that's it... not too exciting at 10:00a.m:) -
thinking about everyone getting treatment today... Positive thoughts to you all day long... -
Woke up thinking about you strong women today.and am picturing you all having a calm day ahead. xoxo -
Thanks Soriya!! So having the cold in your mouth during chemo wards off the blisters and sores? I will definitely take those then...and try to avoid the cold on my sensitive tooth! -
Relocated, I have TCH, so I only suck on ice chips n soak my fingers in ice chip during Texotere. what kind of chemo regimine are you having? since you are TN im assuming you are having AC/T? -
Hi Everyone,
This is my first post. I was Dx 07/12/13 IDC Stage 1, Grade 3, 1.5cm, Triple Negative..
surgery: 08/16/13 Lumpectomy (Left), Sentinel Lymph Node Dissection.
chemotherapy: 10/23/13 Adriamycin, Cytoxan
You have all been a help to me.... -
hi Gia44 and welcome. It looks from your stats that we have the same dx and surgery dates (my surgery was bmx). I was worried about chemo strating so late post op but it looks like you had quite a wait as well.
There are lots of knowledgable and generous women here so i am sure you will be glad to have found the site. -
hope the Wed girls are doing ok. Looking forward to the updates.
I saw MO today and chemo will now start in 3 weeks if my wound is healed enough. The deadline for starting chemo is 3 months post op now apparently and i will be a week away from that deadline then so i hope things improve by then.
Good side effect free day vibes being sent out xo -
Hi Wren,
Yes I was worried about my chemo starting so late after my dx. I see you are from Vancouver BC. I am from Alberta, near Calgary...... -
Wow, not too far from here. Did you have complications from surgery to delay your chemo or is this how they set it up? I'm not sure how much you have read on this forum but it is so helpful. I was overwhelmed at first because it was so much information but have narrowed it down to just a few threads now and it really is nice to find other people who are going through similar things at the same time. I hope you'll stick around. -
I'm very thankful that I found this thread. I am on a thread of local northern va women that I enjoy-they have a lunch once a month and i've attended. I won't read the triple negative boards anymore. Most folks on there are folks with problems and I can't be negative, I just can't be. -
Good Evening ladies,
I am home from my first day at the Chemo Bar. Over all things went well. I am feeling good - ate mac and cheese at lunch and had stew for dinner. My white blood count was a little high but no fever, red blood cell is low - as I type this I think I know why.. MONTHLY CYCLE! So fingers crossed everything goes well from here on out. After I arrived and they called me back they took me to the main infusion area - I mentioned tot he guy that this was my first treatment and that I was told that I would get a private room by 3 different people for the first day. He went and asked around and I was moved to one with a bed. I just wanted the reclining chair and door. Around 3 o'clock the neighbor I shared the bathroom with began screaming for help as my nurse was getting my Carboplatin bag ready. My husband said she was an older woman. I prayed for her to be ok. I think she just fell in there as she was in the bed when we left.
I hope everyone else who had treatment today was just as uneventful. -
This is my first time posting....starting TCH tomorrow. I am at peace with it and I pray that all goes well. Y'all have been a great help to me. -
congrats travelmom. Glad day one went ok. That had to be scary hearing that woman scream. I think i would be more comfortable with other people in the room but i guess it might be easier to relax alone. I hope you continue to do well. Thanks for reporting in. Hope everyone else is doing ok -
Welcome flowergirl - sorry you have to join our group. There is so much great information to be found here and everyone is very willing to lend an ear on days you just need to vent.
Where in Mississippi are you? I lived in Northern Mississippi for several years. -
Hi,
Joining the party a little late. I started chemo (ac) last Friday, 3.5 weeks after my bilateral mastectomy. I am 43, maybe that made a difference. But, it wasn't that bad!!!! I felt fluish for 4 days and am slowly getting back to normal. Luckily, my children are in school, so I don't have a rigorous schedule during the week.
Glad to have some ladies to share this with.
Kathryn -
A quick check in from another Wednesday Girl...
My port install finished around 10:00 and they wheeled me to the infusion room from there. It was a long day and I'm exhausted. I don't feel great...queasy stomach in spite of a ton of meds. I had toast earlier and will have a couple of crackers before I go back to bed. I'll check in again tomorrow. I hope you're all doing well. -
Hugs Kellee, Stay in bed and take it easy. I hope you can sleep and will wake up feeling better. That was a lot to deal with in one day.
