Kad -- The idjuts will counter that not everyone drives a car. What they don't understand is that this premise makes health insurance even MORE necessary. But then, being critical thinking has never been their strong point......
Driving is a right and healthcare is a privledge? Lol Hmmm Really, it's probably the fact that Obama did it and not one of them, but if you had to stretch, I suppose one of those dumbos would say someone else driving could hit ME whereas if my neighbor is sick and has no way to get healthcare, that doesn't affect me. Ofcourse, it does, because that person might get Medicaid and/or the hospital will overcharge the person with insurance to pay for the guy without it.
There really are no good answers for their dumbo opinions. It's like reasoning with a 2 year old having a hissy fit.
Since the Republicans like "Kitchen Table Finances" so much, I present:
Democrat: "Hey, it's time to pay the mortgage. Can you countersign the check?"
Republican: "Sure, sure, but there needs to be some changes around here."
Dem: "Huh? What?"
Rep: "I want the bathrooms painted green, ownership of the TV remote, two shelves of the fridge exclusively to store my soda, turn the garage into a studio for my band, and dump your girlfriend."
Dem: "WHAT?"
Rep: "Look, we've talked about all this at the house meetings, and not enough people are agreeing with me. I'm tired of it. So, if you want the mortgage check counter-signed, we'll do it my way."
Dem: "But.. I'm about to go out on my second date with Obamacare!"
Rep: "Don't care. I hate her. She's a Marxist and stupid. Girlfriends are completely unnecessary, you don't need one."
Dem: "We're talking about the mortgage check! Our credit rating would be damaged, we'll have late fees, and if we wait too long we'll lose the house!"
Rep: "Which is exactly why I know you'll never let that happen. If you don't want to lose the house, you'll agree to my requests."
Dem: "But you'll be out of a house as well!"
Rep: "Oh, it won't come to that, you'll give in."
Dem: "Quit messing around, we need to send in the check by midnight. Sign here."
Rep: "Hey, this is no joke! Okay, fine. You don't have to give me the two shelves in the fridge."
Dem: "No, we're not doing this. Sign the check, and we'll discuss the changes you want at the house meeting, which is WHEN WE DISCUSS THIS STUFF."
Rep: "You refuse to even compromise with me? I get nothing and you get the check signed?"
Dem: "I don't want to sign the check any more than you do, but it has to be signed! You get all the same benefits from signing!"
Rep: "No, I don't get the same benefits, because the changes I want won't be made. Which is why you'll give in and make the changes I want, because you don't want to be blamed for failing to send in the check, do you?"
Dem: "But you're the one who refuses to sign the check, and everyone knows it!"
Rep: "Sure, only it won't come to that, because you'll give in."
Dem: "Were you repeatedly dropped on your head as a child?"
The difference between driving a car and being a "person" re insurance is this: the only folks who don't need car insurance are the ones who don't drive. Simple, isn't it?
We went out for dinner last night to celebrate our anniversary for Tuesday - 36 years!! We went to a new Mexican restaurant that opened up nearby and they forgot to charge us for the wine and beer - I'm going down there when they open this evening and give them the money. Hope they are open because it is a public holiday.
Skyped with our daughter yesterday - little Nicholas is walking everywhere - Steve hadn't seen how good he is. He is such a lovely little boy - wish we lived near him. He was saying Nannan to me but can't come up with anything for Grandad yet. He's been throwing balls up in the air and saying Up Down.
c4c---yes...but EVERYONE has health,no matter whether it is good or bad, just like a car. And Thank You for answering and you Kam. Supposedly Im smart, but my peabrain just cannot grasp what the friggin' problem is, except they are
Blue - second time indeed. I was just reading a wonderful post from Kay on the "Atheist" thread - and it reminded me how EASILY I accepted, as a child, learning that Columbus "discovered" America. What we have lost as a people, by our history and years of destruction of Native people.
RL, RR, Kam, C for C and all those posting articles.....Sunny, I think you had one too. They were great. I think it is deeply, deeply worrisome that we have gotten to the place where we are. It would seem that at some point some huge changes need to be made. Neither party ( though I think the left would not have near the inclination ) should be able to put its citizens in such a state of jeopardy. I personally think it takes a quite stunning lack of conscience ----- maybe in some cases all the way to a total anti-social level.
In other news....I just read an article and I'll try to get the link in......about some California Repugs and some Hillary buttons they thought ( I guess ) would be GREAT to hand out. No woman on this planet is going to forget the Repug war on women.....especially when these yo-yo's are so eager to hand out a reminder. Is it stupidity, a bit of desperation, or both. I have been of the opinion that getting very far for 14' and 16' is fraught with some peril for the Repugs......keep pulling these stunts.....maybe they will look better if they just stay home.
who adores Facebook graphics because the verbiage there is always short, to the point. Says more than I could quicker, cheaper, faster, and with a nicer smile.
eta: When I clink the link above and wait for a second it comes up. Not sure it worked that way on a couple of my older computers.
I can't believe it - seeing it's a holiday and too hot to garden, I decided to set my sewing machine up and do some work on the story quilt I haven't touched for years - the damn thing is broken - the machine itself is OK, but the foot pedal has fallen apart - so much for Swiss excellence. I'm sure I'll be able to buy another, but not when all of the shops are closed. Poop!!!
The Republican Party could be in danger of losing control of the House in 2014, new polls on Sunday show.
In a survey of 24 seats, Republicans fall behind in 17 head-to-head matches against “generic Democrat candidates” among registered voters and lag in an additional four districts when respondents are told the Republican candidate supported the shutdown, according to the surveys by Public Policy Polling which were funded by the liberal group, MoveOn.org

Democrats would need to pick up 17 seats to take over the House — something the polling reveals could be within reach.
One district that shows a favorable position for a Democratic challenger is New York 19, the high-profile contest in which Sean Eldridge, the husband of Facebook co-founder and New Republic owner Chris Hughes, is looking to unseat the Republican incumbent, Chris Gibson. However, Eldridge’s name does not appear on the survey as the challenger.
The other 16 House Republicans who trailed even without the shutdown being mentioned to those polled: California’s Gary Miller, Colorado’s Michael Coffman, Florida’s Steve Southerland and Bill Young, Iowa’s Tom Latham and Steve King, Illinois’ Rodney Davis, Kentucky’s Andy Barr, Michigan’s Dan Benishek,Tim Walberg and Kerry Bentivolio, New York’s Chris Gibson, Ohio’s David Joyce, Pennsylvania’s Pat Meehan and Mike Fitzpatrick and Wisconsin’s Sean Duffy.
The poll also found that a majority of respondents opposed the government shutdown as a means to “to stop the health care law from being put into place.”
The 24 state surveys were conducted Oct. 2 to Oct. 4 and with sample sizes ranging from 600 to 700 voters.
