I did not want to include any other remarks in the above post, but unless I run into something odd, and due to the help the mods freely gave to me, I'm finding ( so far, and will likely continue just fine ) the new tool bar, the font, the spell checker working pretty darn good. As a bit of pride goes before most of my falls.....not going any farther.

    Jackie

p.s. So far....I feel complete love for the spell checker. Before this tool-bar......very often the spell checker just dumped me like yesterdays old news.

Bren - thank you for posting that video. So many places to go with the thoughts I have after watching. I've never latched on to the pink. BC was an ugly disease for me from my first awareness at age 13 when my mother was dx'd (she was Stage IV, but in those days, they might not have known it). I don't even think "survivor." Maybe I just think "lucky so far." I'm not even sure the "early dx" for Stage I 'ers matter. The dna of the tumor is the key-- the cancer is going to do what it is going to do, our current treatments be damned. I hope that the "personalized treatment" philosophy, when in place (and I'm know that's nowhere near around the corner) will help all, no matter what Stage.

As far as GMA. I would think if Robin Roberts were suddenly dx'd Stage IV, a whole lot of attention would be paid.

I will watch for anything I hear related to Metastatic BC on October 13th. I've never heard of MBC day before.

Spell check is working differently. A word is underlined in red with a wavy line if it needs correcting. Right click and choose an option. The emoticons have disappeared though.

The Mods said they would ask the tech people about an emoticon for this current tool-bar. I hope that it is possible and it would really be nice if we had a few more emoticons as well.

I was missing my spell checker as well but accidentally discovered that I get a red line under anything miss-spelled. One of the BIGGEST reasons I noted it was the large amt. of words I often miss-spell now due to I guess not only too many medical incidents but birthday numbers creeping up ever higher. This though, is not bad. I'm still enchanted with the many flavors or birthday cakes and wish to consume a whole lot more of it.

    Hi Kam,

Glad you watched the video .. thought it was pretty powerful. I am so sorry you lost your mom to this disease. How scary for you. I don't think early Stage gals are cured, especially in light of the fact that a full third of us will progress to Stage IV.

Really liked your comment about Robin Roberts .. just yesterday I watched a video on the news where she was talking about early detection being key. She did point out that even with the medical progress so far, the statistics have not changed in the last 20 years regarding the women who die from this.

Hope everyone is enjoying the day ... beautiful here today ... mid 80's and low humidity!

    hugs,

Just did some playing around with the posting box and I was able to find the spellchecker.

Wabbit ... type in an incorrectly spelled word and it will show up with a red line under it. Then right click on it with the mouse and you'll be given some choices for the correct spelling.

Been thinking about you ... hope you're holding up okay, as I know you must really miss Jerry.

    hugs,

    Bren

Preparing to go to work now. It has been a dreary day with a couple of nice rain squalls. Has brought a bit of cooler weather. The rain put plenty of leaves o the drive-way. Tomorrow we will go pick up likely the last of the ripe tomatoes from my cousin's house. She has kept us well supplied of peppers and tomatoes. They are heaven when they come right out of the garden.

Hope all are having a good Saturday.

    See you briefly after work.

While we wait for The Return of Emoticons, if you use a particular one or two regularly, now that uploading pics is so much easier you could have some favorites handy on your desktop, ready to add any time.

Someone just sent this to me...........a QUOTE from President Obama that gets down to brass tacks and them hammers them home.

President Obama: The American people elected their representatives to make their lives easier, not harder

He nailed it in a mighty way. I like to think the right people are listening but I know how it goes.

The sweet yellow ones are Lesser Goldfinch. The little brown one with the striped breast feathers is a female and the two red ones are male House Finches. These are the types of birds I used to rehab for the local wildlife center in southern California.

Jackie - great GREAT cartoons - well, posts, don't know if one would call them cartoons = loved the one E is now using for her tag line.

Jon Stewart has been so fabulous this week - more powerful than all the words, when he takes on the "shutstorm."

Still chuckling that "the community" so strongly objected to whatever Jackie posted, but THANKS to Kam's question, I got to lean about another teahadist who can't possibly live without her congressional salary, guess her surgeon husband does all his work pro bono.

Phone lines, centers, still jammed trying to get registered for Obamacares, thank goodness they have until late March - millions, and millions of people will now have access to affordable health care, and can not be denied for having a pre-existing condition. What a wonderful world. No woman with bc, who develops MBC, can be denied affordable health care. That's really the bottom line for me.

Sunny, it fills my heart with joy to know that all Americans will now have access to health care! So, so happy something has finally been done to bring this about!

The baby with the duck was priceless!!

Had a pain filled but fun day today. Went to the home show in Seattle. Walking and standing were really difficult, but it's always fun to see the new stuff they are selling. We didn't buy much of anything, just looked. Still need appliances, hardwood floors go in next week. I want to get moved in, so I don't have to do the stairs anymore. Getting too hard.

The Tehadists are saying the shutdown is the will of the American people. How many gathering/protests have you seen in support of them?

According to this piece I just read the Tehadists are liars and cheats and this guy has had it. It has turned him into a Democrat an who knows.....the line might form behind him. At any rate Dylan Hock received this letter from GOP insider Tim Miller.

Made for a very interesting read. I don't have figures ( perhaps there is one given in Mr. Millers letter, but I think a huge number of people are onto the Tehadists ( just found out something interesting....you can add words to your spell checker ) and are more miserable by the day apparently.....right up to and going on to turn Democratic. They are liars, cheats, thieves, and terrorists. How long in this day and age can people of their ilk actually last or be fruitful with what they do.

At any rate...here is the article ( copy of Mr. Miller's resignation letter is included ).

I'm not good at spelling or punctuation so hope all the teachers and those in the know can overlook most of it.

Cheryl....I love it "Will of the people". All I have to say to the Tehadists is.....if you see some people sort of sneaking up on you with some strange clothing....its all over people. They have special living quarters for people with your problem. I think as well there may be meds for people with your type of delusions. If not, maybe they will just put you all in a room together forever and you can entertain each other with your silly talk.

If your lucky maybe Rush Limbaugh an Glen Beck will pay you a visit now and then.

This would go into a link, but decided to see what it would look like if copied and pasted. Too funny, though many of you may have already seen it. I love the last few words of the piece. Very good.

imageJust got my hands on Cantor's Thurs memo to House Rs: "We are really in an unprecedented place," he writes. O "refusing to actively engage"

    @robertcostaNRO

Republicans have always depended on President Barack Obama's desire to be "the adult in the room". They threaten to blow up the world, knowing darn well they don't give a shit about the government functioning at all, and Obama has always swooped in to snatch defeat from the hands of Republicans—better to get something out of government (like the sequester) than a shutdown or debt default.

This is what conservatives mean when they bray about Obama "leading". It meant capitulation, time and time again. And Obama delivered, time and time again.

Suddenly, Obama is done. And Republicans are flummoxed. They've taken the nation to shutdown and on the bring of default, and their playbook has been snatched away from them. Why isn't Obama capitulating? Why aren't Democrats fracturing?

None of this would be happening had Obama and congressional Democrats stood up to the GOP these past few years. Bullies will remain bullies as long as they can get away with it, and they've been given carte blanche for too long. But now, with Democrats finally having closed ranks, Republicans have painted themselves into a corner and don't know how to get out.

imageLeadership in corner. As aide explains, anything that that raises debt limit and funds gov't has to be couched as "big good deal" for Rs

    @robertcostaNRO

Good luck with that, assholes. You broke it, you buy it.
