    (((((((Deb)))))))

Went to lunch with the in-laws after church this morning - went to a restaurant where we could sit outside.  I had to keep putting my sweater on and taking it off - the sun was hot and the breeze was chilly.  I went back and forth between being a little too hot (legs burning in my jeans) and being cold when the clouds covered the sun.  It was nice when it was just right.  I think I got a sunburn on my left arm...

Yesterday was a busy day - first I ran around doing more cleaning IN CASE DD brought any friends home with her later in the day - then we drove up to UConn for the Family Weekend performance of the band - then we rushed home to get to the high school to start work on the annual band show.  Last one.  Can't believe it's been 6 years of band shows between DD and DS.

Now that the band show is over, I need to get on DS's case to do some last-minute prep for the SAT next Saturday...

I can't believe it's only the end of September- I feel like it should be more like the end of October (school-wise)

Hope everyone is enjoying the weekend.

Chris - when I read your updates, I am usually glad that I don't have to do those things anymore but then I'm sad because I don't get to do them anymore.  Go figure.

By now, Sheila must be in Hawaii - hope it's wonderful!

Heading down to see my girls in just two weeks - yay!

DH becomes eligible for Medicare tomorrow - can't wait to give him his gift!  I think I really did well this year.  Took something from his bucket list.

    Hugs to all ((TOL))

Diane - I feel the same way - glad this is the last time I have to do these things, but sad that I won't be doing them anymore...

How long is Sheila in Hawaii for?

    Hope DH likes his gift!

Ok - here's another example of how broken my brain is...

On my way home from church yesterday, I was on 84 and saw the highway sign said there was an accident and a backup on the bridge to 91. So I decided to go 84 to rt 2.  I called DH to warn him since he was going to be bringing his parents to lunch near our house.(we take 2 cars to church because he brings his parents and I bring another couple...)  I told him I wasn't sure what was up with rt 3 (it was supposed to be closed this weekend, but it was open the day before - so I wasn't sure if he could go that way).  He asks me to let him know how rt 3 is.  I say - I'm not going that way.  Well, duh, yes I was, since 84 to rt 2 brings me to rt 3.  OMG.  did he correct me?  no, of course not. He NEVER corrects me when I say things that don't make sense because I'm brain dead.  he lets me go along being stupid until I eventually get to that part and realize I got things f'd up AGAIN.

so I finally realize - duh - I am going to get on rt 3 - and call him and tell him it's clear and remind him that he's supposed to correct me when I am wrong about what I say (because my brain is broken).  Which he is not going to do - since he doesn't do anything I ask him to do...which causes me stress which is a big part of WHY my brain is broken.

(((Shieila))) hope you are too busy relaxing and smiling to contribute...if you are lurking, you know we're so happy for you!!!
(((Deb))) sorry to hear there is someone you know who is suffering from BC...
Diane, I hope DH is thrilled with your thoughtful gift!  Good planning...
Sandy, hope you are still feeling better after the flluid drain.
    FireKracker, go make some waves...
Chris, now, you know if you tell DH to correct you when you have a brain skip, and then he does correct you, you will not feel happy...and he knows better!!  LOL...the dilemma continues. Yes, I agree...you do a lot with and for your family...your brain is definitely operating at near capacity to keep up with all that.
What a wonderful legacy - six years of HS band...and now on to college!  You must be proud...
I had a good 4 days away in Colorado visiting friends...it was a lot of work getting there and back but worth it.  Saw aspens, snow, elk, mountains (of course) and went to Taos for the day.  Stopped at a mineral store and bought something pretty...definitely not needed...The best part was sitting on my friend's deck at night with tea and in warm bathrobes...listening to the elk bugling and watching the stars.
Home on the red-eye at 7 AM Monday; in the office at 10 AM...worked until 8 PM...back to reality.  But worth it.
    Hugs all around...

Me, myself & I, Valerie Jean, are all asking a huge favor of my dear sister friends here.

I have my 6-mo Onc check-up tomorrow morning (which is here now as it is 1:00 AM) at 9 AM to keep good thoughts for me.

I'm trying to remain calm & positive. I will get the results from my blood tests which also include that dreaded CA.27.29.

I'm wondering if I will be "let go", so to speak. Meaning, will my appts now be spaced once a year instead of the 6-mo ones I've had for the past two years because I will be 5 years out next month. Now that is a whole new worry ...... will think about another time.

Must get to bed. Need to be up early to shower & freak out!!

Hoping you get good results today, Val.

Sandy - Hope chemo is easy on you and that fluid you had drained made you feel better and is staying away!

Colorado - sounds so nice!  Glad you were able to get out there and enjoy it.  Compared to you (and others) I do nothing - so no excuses for me...

Hope you are having a wonderful time, Sheila - (I hope you are house/apartment hunting while you are out there!)

DH is going to pick up DD from school and bring her home to get her bangs cut and maybe shop for clothing she needs for her first dance competition in a couple weeks.  I'm working from 2-6:30.  I might be able to see her for a quick dinner if I can get out in time.  I did just see her briefly Saturday night after the band show.  (I think she should continue to let them grow out - she needs to tie them back for band and dance - why have them?)

Well, I procrastinated long enough to run out of time to go for a "run" this morning.  Maybe tomorrow (supposed to have tomorrow off)  I would like to do the Thanksgiving road race, but I can barely "run" 2 1/2 miles (at an embarrassing more than 12 min/mile rate), but I don't think I can get up to 4.75 miles by Thanksgiving (especially if I continue to "run" only once every 7-10 days)  Bummer.

    It's a beautiful day!

Everything is good! Lab work in the normal range - anything that is low is normally low for me anyway. That CA 27.29 is 12.8.

I asked the Onco what was her opinion about staying on the Aromatase Inhibitor after 5 years & she said there is nothing to prove there is benefit. But, if one has a low stage cancer (me), limited side effects (me) & their bones are doing well (osteopenia in lumbar spine & normal left hip), then it might be okay to continue. She wants to see me again in 6 mos (April) as I began my Aromasin in Feb so I would be almost finished & we can decide then how to continue. I told her if things looked good I would be open to continuing the AI. We'll see then.

I had a special sista "in" the waiting room with me & her presence kept me breathing deep & staying on the calm side. (Thanks K!) I hate these appointments! I am waiting to hear from the Call Center for my scheduled DXA scan & I have already set up my yearly mammo (Oct 21).

    Thanks for the encouragement sisters!

DH was pretty surprised and very happy about his present - he has dreamed of going to see Lambeau Field and the Green Bay Packers.  I have not dreamed of sitting in the cold at all but it's important to try to make dreams come true, right?  Monday night football so extra cold at night on 11/4. I'll be there in many layers of clothes.  He had a very happy birthday and that makes me happy.

(((Val))) I am so glad your appointment went well.  Five years!  What a milestone.  And yet, we always worry with those appointments.  It sounds like you are doing well on the A.I. drug... For now, Val, do a little happy dance!!!Laughing

Chris, that photo is awesome!  That must be fun to see DS and famous sax on the cover.  Did you get to see DD?
I love Rocky Hill...home of the dinosaur state park museum...and awesome geology too.  I used to take field trips up through Berlin and West Hills park & the dinos.

I, too, hope Sheila is looking for a place to live in the islands...maybe soon...meanwhile, Sheila, hope you are dancing the hula and loving the weather.

(((Sandy))), would love to put you in my pocket and go on an adventure...I hope chemo went OK and that your breathing is at least a little better.  Let us know when you are up for a girls' day out...maybe we can round up Ducky and FireKracker for lunch.

Diane, you did it!  You pulled off a fabulous gift and surprise.  You will have fun watching Dh enjoy his gift - hope not too cold!

Hey Linda, for the first time/long time, our NY baseball season is over early...how's the Red Sox fever?  Must be fun!

My DD in MA who moved has changed my babysitting "date" to another week end when she needs me...not the Disney week end...she may be taking her 3 year old after all...I offered to go (again) but she didn't respond so I will drop that idea.  It doesn't get easier to be so far, but we are all adjusting.

My DS in San Francisco has not even called me since I visited him in May.  I sent texts and wrote emails and just sent a very long note but no response.  I don't know what else to do...guess I'll call him this week end.

Being back to work is kind of exhausting...but no complaints...at least I am not furloughed from the federal gov't.
    Sleep time...
    Hugs all around.

Hey, Diane, my brother would be sooo jealous. A game at Lambeau. He has been a Packers fan since he was 14 yrs old. I have no idea how it began, we have never lived in WI. He owns a piece of them - well, their stock! Has told me he has left it to me in his will! (what the heck would I ever do with that??!! It can't be sold. ha-ha)

Late here again, seems I always am....

    (Miss ya Sheila!)

Hope tomorrow is a good day for you, Sandy.

Hey, Linda! Thanks! Yeah, hard to believe..... next month, five years.... yowza!

Joan, I would love to see Colorado. My DH would love to see the Broncos play there. I'd love to see the spectacular country.

Chris, that is a fabulous picture!

K, you are always in my heart.

Boy- ladies around here are up late!

I did get to see DD - for her trip back to school.  I was supposed to get out of work at 6:30 - we were going to meet at DQ which is around the corner.  Of course, I can never leave on time - usually there is a line when it's time for me to leave and then there are the "chores" to do when we leave - mine was trash (confidential trash - 2 types and regular trash) So DD shows up at 6:50.  I'm taking the regular trash out of the bin, but didn't have the right size bag to replace it.  then she asks for a hug goodbye.  I said, "You ate without me?!"  I thought I would be done as soon as I could finish with that trash.  She asked if I was going with them to take her back to school - I hadn't thought of that - so I figured I could eat on the way and be able to talk to her on the way.  So I asked her to go with her dad and brother to DQ and get me take out while I finished with the trash.  But of course, it was pretty busy in the pharmacy, so while they did that, I ended up waiting on customers and taking phone calls and filling a few Rx's to try to help keep up.  Meanwhile I had already clocked out since the higher ups have been getting on our pharmacy manager's case about reducing hrs - i didn't want to contribute to that - but it is ridiculous that they won't allow the staffing necessary to function properly (and service customers properly, really - they often have to wait longer than they should because there aren't enough of us to wait on everyone in a timely manner - and now there are flu shots to administer thrown into the mix)  Then DS and DD came back and said they had my food - I finished tying up the trash and then got the idea that I could finish up with other work "real quick" if DS took the regular trash to the dumpster for me!  So I had poor DS take the trash out to the back of the building for me.  Ugh.  So by the time I left - it was 7:50 - I had made them wait an extra hour.  So now I'm stressing about that - I never know how long it will take me to finish up what I am doing to know whether to ask them to wait for me or not.  :(

Interestingly, DD has 2 friends who were pharmacy majors- one, who is now a senior, has switched her major to chemistry and the other, who is only a sophomore, has switched hers to biology.  I asked why- DD said one did because she heard the job sucks.  Yes - retail pharmacy totally sucks.  (not to mention, when I took the tech class and some students said they were considering going to school for pharmacy, the instructors, who were pharmacists themselves, teaching on the side, warned them that the market is saturated - I hope there are jobs for chemists and biologists...they say this country needs more kids going into math and science - but I don't know where the jobs are...)

Went to the MO yesterday and him and the lung dr. want me to go to a thorastic surgeon for him to check out the lung to see what the problem is and how come I can't breathe cause they can't figure it out. don't know if there is more fluid in there they don't want to wait, they want to take a biospy but I have to go to the lung dr. tomorrow so I will find out more and who they are referring me to....I just want to be able to breathe without the use of oxygen and wonder if that will ever happen....thanks for caring

Sandy - I wrapped up 8 little clues starting with chapstick, then green/gold socks, then hand and toe warmers, then a toy airplane, a block of cheese from Wisconsin, a little black bear since they are playing the Bears, and a Green Bay hat.  He got it at the cheese.  It was fun to watch him try to figure it out and then to see his face when he did.

How are you feeling?  When do you see the lung specialist?

Chris - I saw the picture - very cool!

Joan - you sure are getting around these days :)  Good for you.  I hope SF son answers soon so ¥ou can plan a visit.  I am going down on the 14th for a week because DS is going to Barcelona for a conference.  Fingers crossed for a comfortable visit..

Linda - how goes the freshman?  Hope all is well.

Hello to Deb, Meece, Ducky, Granny, Valjean, Chabba, and Sheila!  So glad Sheila is not bothering with us - I think it means she is having a wonderful week of sunshine and sand.

There's a big bug on my screen but I don't want to smoosh it. It's going crazy when I type. Dh is going fishing in 2 hours...then I can sleep as late as I want...for a change.

FireKracker, yup, I can drive...3 hours to you, then about 2 to NJ, right? Sounds like an overnighter....How is veggy? anybody hear from her?

Diane, that was the best!! Love your gifty hints! When my DH turned 60 I planned a trip to Alaska and did not tell him what we were doing there...I sent him deep sea fishing; and we went flying around Mt. McKinley...he talked about for a year.

Chris, glad you got to see DD...sounds like you rode back with her...I always run over at the end of the day even when I have other appointments. I have to talk to myself to focus to get out of there when I planned. You are too good to them at the pharmacy.

Sandy, oh how I wish you did not have to go to more doctors. BUT if it means better breathing and getting off Os eventually, then it will be a positive. Hang in there...

I know you have to deal with the pulmonary doctor now, but hope we can find a way to meet up.

    Where is Ms. Ducky???

    Hi, Everyone.

A few years back I gave DH a gift off his bucket list. It was driving 8 laps at Fontana in a Nascar race car. I made a scrapbook with empty spaces saying stuff like "place picture of DH crossing finish line here" "DH in driving suit here". He was totally take back. It's fun to give gifts like that. Unfortunately, DH was so hyped up, that once he'd finished his laps, he took his suit off and turned in the gear before I could get to him with the camera. SO some pages are still blank.

Sandy, I hope they find out what they can do to make you feel better.
