I'm not sure which forum to ask this in, so I'll start here with my trusted Stage III ladies. If you had the ooph, how long did it take you to recover? I'm getting ready to schedule mine and was told 2-3 weeks recovery. That was more than I expected.

I had surgery on a Wednesday and went back to work the following Monday. I went hiking 12 days after my surgery. It took me longer to recover from having my wisdom teeth out. Everyone is different, though.

I was fine after about a week; mine was done via laparoscopy through the navel.   Sometimes they go in vaginally, so it helps to know how they're planning on doing it.   Of course, if there's an issue, they have to open the abdomen, and then you're talking six weeks.

Hi Mary - I had three things done at once: port removal, ooph (through the navel), & both expanders replaced with silicone implants. I was in the hospital for only one night - just a little spotting when I got up to use the bathroom...the next day I asked the doc if I could drive our (extra) car home (45 miles) - he asked if I'd taken a pain pill that morning (I hadn't) and if it had power steering (it did).  So I was given the all-clear to drive myself home the morning after!

    Best of luck to you...Julie

I think they tell you 2-3 weeks, but most are feeling better sooner than that.  Everybody reacts differently, but compared to other procedures, this one isn't too bad.  Good luck!

I thought the recovery was relatively easy and fast compared to previous surgeries.  I've had a bilat and c-section among others.  I wasn't very good about following the restrictions and was out hiking a week after surgery.  I might have missed a few days of work.

The poochy stomach did last forever!

I had a daVinci partial hysterectomy, taking the ovaries and most of the uterus. It took 1.5 hours more than normal, because I had extensive adhesions from a botched C-section 20 years prior. My daVinci surgeon untangled all that mess while he was at it. I mention it to explain that my surgery ended up being more extensive than a quick ooph. They made 4 holes in my stomach for the surgery.

I was sore for about a week, and my belly looked sort of swollen for about 2 weeks. The first 5 days I had fairly painful constipation. 7 days out my surgeon cleared me to resume exercise. I did feel a little more tired week 2 than normal, but other than that, nothing. I never had any real pain, except for the intestinal issue.

It was easy for me, didn't slow me down a bit.  I was out of work already but felt good with in a few days and worked around my house with no problem.  I was a little sore and only had slight pain when I tried to pick up my daughter (3yr).  Good luck!

I had mine done Thursday 9/19 - I'm at my desk as we speak but my question is this.....can I go for a slow walk this evening - seems I've been home "resting" and doing nothing but eating - I really do not want to gain anymore wieght and would actually like to lose some - any advice on losing???? I'm tired of being tired so I'm hoping my ooph was the answer to stop my vag bleeding of 3 weeks on - 2 days off....

TAR423--I wish I knew what to tell you about walking but I don't.

I have scheduled this procedure but all of my doctors except for the gyn who has agreed to do it are saying it's medically unnecessary. I'm not sure what to do.

I'm also stage III and had to be proactive to receive the treatment I thought would help me.  I pushed my onc for Zometa, and my gyn for the ooph.  I had a family history of ovarian cancer and I also felt that it could help drop my estrogen levels.
