Thanks Bren.....I did have a birthday yesterday. On Sept. 13th. 1945 at around 10 a.m. in the morning I was born. My Mom thought that it was a Friday then.....so yesterday was ahem, one of those days. Since I always thought I was actually born on a Friday the 13th. I chose early on to not be superstitious. Used to laugh with my Mom over just which of us might fall heir to some bad luck. I always looked on it as her fault that she couldn't hurry things up a tad or delay them by a day.......so we had fun with it.
We are actually celebrating today. I'm having some company over and have made something I don't allow myself too often.....chicken with home-made noodles that are drying as we speak. I've invited some family members to share in the hopes that there won't be too much for left overs.
Been working on shedding a few pounds and that is definitely not a slimming recipe.
Much cooler here today....in fact, though I am not, Dh is almost cold. It will be in low 70's but with no humidity and that we have had, it seems a touch chilly to some. I start my morning chores about 7 a.m. so am too rev'ved up to feel chilly.

Obama rattled the saber (looks strong on using weapons).
Obama went to Congress for permission to use the saber (shows respect for separations of powers).
Obama negotiated with Russia for help with Syria (shows he will negotiate).
Repubs freak out at saber rattling (look weak on defending American interests).
Repubs deny permission to use saber (still the party of NO).
Repubs hate that Obama negotiated with Russia (would rather now rattle saber - flip flop)
No wonder Obama is always smiling.

I have to admit I missed it on t.v. this morning but thought I heard McCain calling out the President for not making a 'strike' already. Seems to me he is ( McCain) a rather wishy-washy guy.....always looking for the padding so he gets to land soft. I don't much like or trust him.....likes to stand in the middle so he can run where the praise is...no matter which side.

Jackie .. glad you are enjoying your birthday today. We celebrated mine yesterday as Tim was home and he made me a wonderful dinner. He won't be home on Tuesday when it's actually my b-day.
The noodles sound really good! It IS hard to lose weight. It took me over a year to lose 45 lbs. Then you have to be careful what you eat so you can maintain the weight loss! I did have some birthday cake last night and it was really good!
Wishing you all the best,
Bren

Some years ago as we traveled this country I read a local Native American newspaper. I think it was in Arizona. They were furious with McCain because time and again they had approached him with legislative needs and time and again he promised the world and then flip flopped and voted against them. I picked up this behavior over time on other issues and especially during the presidential run.
He's one of those people who is always sticking his finger up to see which way the wind is blowing. Not to be trusted.
He should just go back to his Sedona retreat and meditate with the crystal worshipers. -
Chickadee ... looking for the "like" button!
hugs,
Bren

I did hear that McCain is probably retiring after his current term.

Bren, I deleted the cake the first time because it was way, way too big. Hoping this as well doesn't turn out too giant size.

Angry House Republicans demand better communication
By Molly K. HooperRepublican lawmakers are growing increasingly frustrated with what they say is a lack of communication from their leaders.
Both centrist and conservative members in the House believe that Speaker John Boehner (R-Ohio) and his lieutenants could have done more earlier this year to counter the Tea Party's effort to defund ObamaCare. Some Republicans on Capitol Hill say such an effort is politically impossible with a Democratic-controlled Senate and a Democrat in the White House. Regardless, the rift on what to do on ObamaCare has opened up a civil war within the GOP.
That deep division is flaring at a time when fiscal showdowns are front and center following the August recess.
Interesting.....sometimes you hang yourself with your own rope.
